    Couple of things for people who may have problems with this.
    The video doesn't mention a few important aspects of this. 1. The stick should be fat32 but with MBR, instead of GPT. Most are mbr, but it could be the other way without you knowing it. This can be done either using CMD in windows or with a app like aomei or some other software like that and 2. File extension name should be ticked inside the "view" tab in Win explorer-if it isnt, the file here would have been renamed to MSI.ROM.1A0 instead of just MSI.ROM, this is very important.

    • @Yagdrassyl
      @Yagdrassyl Год назад

      But why the prompt to change the file extension then?

    • @RandoBurner
      @RandoBurner Год назад +10

      @@Yagdrassyl Because the option was enabled here, but they didn't talk about it or show it, and for some people it may be unticked in the view tab, without tehm knowing and they could be having a failed flash becuase of this.
      There are some other things to talk about, like full formating the drive instead of quick formatting if it fails when doing it quick. Or using something like sd card formatter or low level format tool to fully delete and then just format to mbr/fat32.
      Another trick if all fails, may be to create a small 64 mb partition and full format to fat16 instead of fat32. But again, usually the mbr/file extension enabling usually solves all problems.

    For those with the MEGX670E ACE motherboard I had no clue if the system was supposed to shut off or what so I consulted the manual which I wish wasn't digital but it's steps are
    Updating BIOS with Flash BIOS Button
    1. Please download the latest BIOS file that matches your motherboard model from
    the MSI website.
    2. Rename the BIOS file to MSI.ROM, and save it to the root of the USB storage device.
    3. Connect the power supply to CPU_PWR1 and ATX_PWR1. (No need to install CPU
    and memory.)
    4. Plug the USB storage device that contains the MSI.ROM file into the Flash BIOS
    Port on the rear I/O panel.
    5. Press the Flash BIOS Button to update BIOS, and the LED starts flashing.
    6. The LED will be off when the process is completed.
    Seems like it doesn't shut down when finished for my motherboard.

      It would work the same.
      You would want to do it this way in the event the motherboard didn't support to processor you have at the time the motherboard was manufactured. For example the B650 boards were made not made for the 7000 series AMD cpus, but later got support for them. Or in the event of ASUS motherboards with the 7800x3D that was burning out the cpu, you want to flash it to a safe version that fixed this way before even putting that cpu on the board.

    @MSI_USA I cannot describe to you how absolutely angry I am after jumping through all of the hoops to try and get the MSI flash bios button to work. In the forums they say you have to try all sorts of different USB drives until you find one that works. It's the year 2024, USB drives have been around for a long time now. Do you know how infuriating it is to get a new motherboard and not have it work with a processor that has been out for years already to require a bios update for it to function? Like a fool, I tried every different USB drive that I own, with the exact filesystem (fat32) and the bios file named MSI.ROM. MSI do not and I repeat do not offer a feature that clearly absolutely DOES NOT WORK. Why on earth would you put out a product that is not compatible with with processors that your products are designed to be compatible with that first requires an update to be compatible with them? So people have to buy two processors to get a motherboard to work? I'm disgusted and beyond angry after jumping through all of those hoops for a BRAND NEW motherboard not to work at the end. This is garbage.

    My friend has a MSI Z790 P WiFi motherboard. He had to flash bios because he has 14700k. I put the USB in, click flash bios and the pc lights turned on (fans were spinning) and there was a grinding noise because one of the fan connector was grinding against the back exhaust fan. So I powered off the psu which is very bad ik but I panicked. Is the motherboard fried? Everytime I try to flash the BIOS. The led flashes but after a while the pc turns on but doesn’t boot to the BIOS.

      @@realnoname_ nope. I have not. Someone suggested resetting the CMOS and so I’m going go try that later today. I might even trying putting the window usb in and booting it up.

      @@airbus711 i tried that aswell, the error LED eventually went off with the CMOS not in the board, but after powering off and on again I got the same error, I just think I fried my board and just get a new one, sucks to be me :/

      We tried everything today, my and a friend of mine where troubleshooting for a whole 6 hours trying everything we could, he’s gonna give me an older CPU as last hope to maybe update the BIOS on the software itself

      @@realnoname_ damn, which board do you have? Also, the msi board green light lights up and stays lit meaning it’s working right? I hope I didn’t fry my friend’s board cause that would be unfortunate.

    I updated bios version 7E07vM51(Beta version) to 7E07vM52(Beta version), on my PRO Z790-A MAX WIFI motherboard and now my PC is in a coma. I tried to clear cmos, remove the battery, use the jumper, disconnect everything, reassemble the pc and it won't even turn on. I regret buying MSI, I can't believe these are problems in 2024. my PC is dead.
