Many of the Filipinos who died with the allies did not get their promised United States benefits by Roosevelt. After the war, President Truman overturned the promised... meaning, Truman declined the benefits. It was years later altered, reduced and Filipinos who fought received a menial lump sump of money and select few only received citizenship. What happened there was a truly unacceptable time in history. Imperial Japan was in the PH and it was a strategically important directive that the Japanese cannot build bases in PH as the Japanese could have won the pacific war. The US only cared about the imperial Japan to leave and stay out of that part in the pacific. The sacrifice was important to both US and Philippines. Truman cancelled the benefits to Filipinos because it was wartime and the benefits were void because it would have costed the US millions of dollars to pay the veterans. Yet... we gave out trillions of COVID relieved for those who refuse to work lol

Cool my great uncle was in ww2 he was a Barton death March survivor and he was captured and beaten and tried to escape multiple times and they broke his legs and he was 17 when he joined the navy because his parents didn’t have food at home because of the Great Depression so he joined for th food and when we went to war he wasn’t old enough so they sent him home and then as soon as he was old enough he joined unfortunately he passed away a few years ago but he lived a great life
