    Nobody is fooled by the "Inspired by" prefix on the Titfield Thunderbolt train set. Rapido Trains have exclusive rights to produce said model, so its another case of Goliath stamping of David from Hornby. Thankfully, Studio Canal are known to be extremely litigious over their intellectual property and so Hornby should prepare for a big financial rap on the knuckles for this - and justifiably so.

      Hopefully this will destroy Hornby once and for all and then allow a new company to puirchase what remains and make and sell stuff for a real price and not a price that is still bailing Hornby out of the Modelzone saga collapse some six years ago. I am not going to be ripped oiff. Another prodicer also charges way over the odds for their stuff after their model making arm ramped up the costs on them thus making that model rail coampy also rip us off to recoup their losses.

      It has nothing to do with Chinese workers getting more pay as a friend of mine has products made over there and they have not paid any workers, more for years. The price increases are more to do with the Modelzone saga some six years ago and another retailer ramping up their prices after their manufacturer in China put up the cost of making the models after they had signed the deal. Heljan are either just jumping in on the game or have been manipulated by a certain manufacturer to put their prices up so that they do not look like the only ones doing so. Either way I shall not be buying anymore as they are just become a joke regards prices. Stuff Calvex as well and Revolution trains. Its Dapol who stay real in terms of price and Accruscale due to their ability to produce amazing stuff for the money they ask

    I see that, despite being a "completely independent" magazine, Hornby Magazine here managed to completely avoid any mention that Rapido are already producing Lion and the Titfield Thunderbolt set. I suppose Hornby thinks it can justify this by also marketing its Lion model as part of a set "inspired" by another film, albeit one that absolutely nobody has heard of. But at Hornby Magazine its just great news all the way!

  • @2H80vids
    @2H80vids 3 года назад +15

    I'm not surprised that the comments section is mainly negative, aimed at the bizarre prices but it'sa bit of a shame for the hobby in general. The annual Hornby range announcement used to be a time of great excitement. All modellers looked forward to it but, importantly, kids looked forward to it. OK, most kids couldn't run out and buy an A4, with a full train of coaches, but a mid-sized loco was achievable and then there were birthdays and Christmas.
    I wonder how many parents watched this, who aren't in the hobby themselves, but have kids who are. How many of those parents are going to punt £500 on a train for their 12 year-old's layout? Grandparents can be a "go-to" for a special loco but, again, how many are going to pay £250 for a toy engine?
    ££ - 𝑶𝒏𝒆 𝑯𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑬𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒚 𝒒𝒖𝒊𝒅 - ££ for a class 08 - REALLY? Come on Hornby, get a bloody grip!!

    • @2H80vids
      @2H80vids 2 года назад

      @barnabyjoy Rubbish !! Firstly, you don't need to spoil your kids to show love. But, how is that the smaller manufacturers who will pay may more due to smaller numbers, can turn out beautiful models, dripping with details(which don't fall off) at far more realistic prices?
      "Brain rotting nostalgia" - really? Does this apply to modern image modellers too? Does it apply to young adults? Or is it just aimed at the steam enthusiasts? Whoever you're aiming for, it's a ridiculous generalisation and a pretty sad opinion to have of those in the hobby.
      Presumably, when you lavish Hornby loco on your kids, just to show you love them, you're encouraging this brain rotting?
      I get the impression that you're more interested in arguing/trolling on YT than in creating a model railway - good luck with that.

    I was delighted to see the L M S Turbomotive 6202 on the list of new introductions. The images looked good however the tender revealed a glaring error . The Turbo and even when rebuilt carried a 9 ton Stanier tender which was unique in that the footsteps on the tender had both sides curved, not one side straight as normal on an ordinary 9 ton tender. Even after the Harrow crash the tender was reused and went behind 48134 still with the double curved steps .

    I wanted to know why don’t they dig a tunnel and do an extension for the main line Train so they extend the unused abandoned underground stations.
    Why couldn’t they use the part D78 Stock train doors on the sides and also restructure the front face of the A60 and A62 stock that includes the class 313, class 314 and class 315 remix and make them all together and also redesign them an overhead line and also make them into six cars per units and also having three Disabled Toilets on that six cars per units A60 and A62 stock trains and also convert the A60 and A62 stock trains into a Scania N112, Volvo TD102KF, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXC, Gardner 6LXB and Gardner 8LXB Diesel Engines and also put the Loud 7-Speed Voith Gearboxes even Loud 8-Speed Leyland Hydra cyclic Gearboxes in the A60 and A62 stock, class 313, class 314, and class 315 and also modernise the A60 and A62 stock and make it into an 11 car per unit so it could have fewer doors, more tables, computers and mobile phone chargers?
    A Stock Train and also having 8 Disabled Toilets on those A stock trains. why couldn’t we refurbish and modernise the waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel and make it bigger and extend it to bank station, making it into a Triple-Track Railway Line so those 4 European countries such as Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden to convert the waterloo and city line Triple-Track Train tunnel into a High-Speed train?
    The Third Euro tunnel Triple-Track Train line to make it 11 times better for passengers so they could go from A to B. then put the modernised 11 car per unit A Stock and put them on a bigger modernised waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel so it could go to bank station to those 4 European countries such as Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden. The modernised refurbished 11 cars per unit A stock could be a High Speed The Third Triple-Track Euro Tunnel Train So it is promising and 37 times a lot more possible to do this kind of project that is OK for London Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden.
    oh by the way, could they also tunnel the Triple-Track Railway Line so it will stop from Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex so that the Passengers will go to Germany, Italy, Poland and Sweden and also extend the Triple-Track Railway Line from Bank to Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex Stations so that more people from there could go to Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden Easily.
    Why couldn't they extend the Piccadilly line and also build a brand-new underground train station so it could go even further right up to Clapton, Wood Street and also make another brand new tunnel train station in Chingford and could they extend the DLR?
    All of the classes 150, 155, 154, 117, 114, 105, and 106, will be replaced by all of the Scania N112, Volvo TD102KF, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXB, Gardner 6LXC and Gardner 8LXB Diesel Six carriages three disabled toilets are air conditioning trains including Highams Park for extended roots which is the Piccadilly line and the DLR trains.
    Could you also convert all of the 1973 stock trains into an air-conditioned maximum speed 78 km/hours (48 MPH) re-refurbished and make it into a 8 cars per unit if that will be alright, and also extend all of the Piccadilly train stations to make more space for all of the extended 8 car per unit 1973 stock air condition trains and can you also build another Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive Companies and they can order Every 17 Octagon and Hexagon shape LNER diagram unique small no.13 and unique small no.11 Boilers from those Countries such as Greece, Italy, Poland, and Sweden, can they make Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive speeds by up to 117MPH so you can try and test it on the Original Mainline so it will be much more safer for the Passengers to enjoy the 117MPH speed Limit only for HS2 and Channel Tunnel mainline services, if they needed 16 Carriages Per units can they use those class 55’s, class 44’s, class 40’s and class 43HST Diesel Locomotive’s right at the Back of those 16 Carriages Per Units so they can take over at the Back to let those Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive’s have a rest for those interesting Journeys Please!!!, oh can you make all of those Coal Boxes’s 16 Tonnes for all of the 117MPH Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive’s so the Companies will Understand us PASSENGER’S!!! so please make sure that the Builders can do as they are Told!! And please do something about these very important Professional ideas Please Prime Minister of England, Prime Minister of Sweden, Prime Minister of Germany, Prime Minister of Italy, Prime Minister of Poland and that Includes the Mayor of London.

    I find it offensive that the sentence, "encouraging young people into the hobby at not beyond pocket money prices," was uttered. Who are these kids and why was my pocket money never measured in gold and diamonds???? Seriously though, the prices are OUTRAGEOUS. I feel sorry for these guys having to create a video in which they have to make it appear to be normal. So much of what is being said is a justification for why the prices are so high. I'm just....flabbergasted. Very sad times for the hobby.

    Enjoyed the video a good summary of the new range, but concerned that some obvious livery errors were not picked up. Once again a Railroad HST has been afflicted with a black cab roof. Ironic really given the quote "Intercity colour scheme pretty much as it should be".
    Hopefully as was the case with the blue grey version it will have lost its black roof when it comes out.
    The NSE 50 also seems to have acquired black paint where there should be any, around the side cab windows.
