Nice layout. I would however make one addition. On the shed side there is a route off the circuit but no corresponding route back on to the circuit. I would suggest extending the shortest siding until it meets the main circuit and add a set of points.
Excellent video, demonstrating how quickly a really effective layout can go together in no time. Nice showcase for the new products as well. To add a totally unnecessary but obsessive comment: The Fairlie should be the other way round if simulating a FR service as they position the small box coaches immediately behind the loco (as you have), on services heading up to Blaenau Ffestiniog. In that case the driver is on the left so the coal bunkers should be on the right when facing forwards. Sorry, had to get that off my chest!
Cracking layout, interesting build too. You've achieved what you set out to achieve 👍👍 That water tank water (on the Engine Shed) is crying out to be made a dark glossy green colour though - not turquoise like the Mediterranean 👍😄😄 I think that the layout concept works really well and you've done a remarkable job, and depending on time and inclination, as you say, drop or open top baseboards in key areas would look fab👍😊
A really great project which you need congratulating for. It really does capture the Festiniog railway very well indeed. Having lived in Merioneth for ten years I would only really add a few little signature features like Rhododendrons, Gorse and maybe if there were room, a disused Welsh chapel. Great work Mike and Richard
Looks good. Glad you brought up the fact that the Ffesty is right-hand running, so the ground signals are wrong (not to mention, the Ffesty's signals are completely different). I am tempted to use a baseboard kit to make a 009 layout at my girlfriend's now. If only a double fairlie in 009 wasn't more expensive than a dapol 08 in 0.
Great video as ever gents. I really like what you've done with the grass and building up all the textures, definitely got a Welsh kinda feel to it. I like that powder stuff (forgot the name of it) you used in the shed and yard scenes, think I'll have to give it a try on my layout when I get chance. What a fun little layout you've got to play with now though, hours of fun. Keep up the great work as ever and see you on the next one Cheers James
One huge advantage of modelling a narrow gauge railway is the curves. On many layouts, even at exhibition standard, the curves still look too tight and longer locos/stock just don't look right. Watch a class 40, or a pacific, on Topley Dale and space restrictions can force that "train set(ish)" appearance. On the Ffestiniog layout, the curves look natural and the stock doesn't look out-of-place on them. The layout may be fairlie small but, for less than a week's work, it looks f̸a̸i̸r̸l̸i̸e̸ pretty impressive.👍😁
Beautifully made layout. :-D But the ground signals look out of place to me. :-\ Maybe the LEDs need to be more dimmer or something. I don't know, they just don't look right for some reason.
When I saw the grass and turf on the track in siding at about 16:40 I thought you may have left it giving the effect the very end of the siding is little used
Lovely layout, captures the essence of the Ffestiniog Railway, it has inspired me to build my first model railway layout, everything going fine at the moment, although struggling to build a Slate Mountain which is an absolute must for any Welsh Railway, how do you get the slate/rocks to stick to an almost vertical embankment? any tips would be much appreciated.
A great layout, I’ve really enjoyed watching the two videos. The strips of purple flowers look excellent at the station, can you tell me what they are called and who makes them, please? I’d love to get some for my layout. Thanks.
@@hornbymag Hi guys, I’m one of the volunteers at Statfold, I’d love to have chance to meet you and if possible get chance to have a quick drive on the layout, I intend to start my first layout this year and seeing how you’ve done this one has given me both inspiration and a few ideas on how to mix my OO and OO9 models together. Love the magazine one of only 2 modelling mags I actually buy, just need to sort out a subscription so I don’t miss any issues in future. Dale
Hi lad's lovely layout. Just wondering if you plan on getting the peco 0 4 0 England loco. I think it would look good with the Fairlie locos . Andrew verlander
The layout looks great. But oddly it is the loco and plastic looking carriages that sort of irk me. They seem far inferior in terms of "high fidelity" compared to the scenery and buildings.
I have a Good Idea at what Bachmann can do. Make more types of Fairlies. Their is already modern Double Fairlies, why not make older Fairlies. Their is already the 1879 Merddin Emrys. Why not the 1872 James Spooner, or the Little Wonder. I just like the older designs.
Bachmann Hunslet. For any one interested on the Bachmann news page they are now giving a release date of early 2023. There have been so many proposed release dates its turning into a joke. They were due June this year and it appears to be pushed back yet again. Bachmann this is rapidly turning into a joke

Wow Awesome gentlemen, thank you , Please more 0 gauge perhaps Many Thanks Andrew
It's a flock of sheep, not a pack of sheep, great job lads.

Looks fantastic really nice simple but effective layout briliant job
Wonderful small layout, which excellently captures the spirit and flair of vthe Ffestiniog Rlwy. Well done!

Outstanding work, especially in such a short time frame!

Great layout and show as always. Noticed the fresh trim as well 💇♂️ 🚂
Fantastic layout 🤩👌👍
Fantastic pair of videos...thoroughly enjoyed them both.
Making me want to start looking at planning my first layout build....
Fantastic looking layout chaps and has given me some tips and ideas for my own layout. Thanks.
Wow enjoyed your latest video thanks for sharing.

Really nice layout particularly given the time. And yes, you’re spot on - I’ve got a pack of 6 identical cows I’ve never used.
Proving yet again, that the hardest thing is to just walk away and say it's done!
Great work on the layout, slate mountain does look good and with the extra details it’s really set the whole scene for the layout 👍🏻👍🏻

Very nice, on completion.
looks amazing
A Fairlie brilliant video chaps 🙈 excuse the pun. Given me some fairlie good ideas for the layout 😁.
Also happy new year to you all

I understand now - all filmed then released in instalments. Nice layout regardless.

I reckon this would be a good tv show teaching you how to build a welsh layout i mean i is doing that on youtube
I think the layout's greatest feature is the total lack of a bus crossing a bridge.

Pretty sure we mentioned last time about right hand running on the Ffestiniog!
Lovely work gents. Will you be bringing it to Statfold Barns? Ideal place with all the narrow gauge there.
We will indeed 😁

What size is this layout and what is the difference in N scale and 009 scale please.
It's eight feet by two feet. 009 is modelled to 00 scale on n gauge track.
@@brianlaunchbury4491 Two foot six inches wide, I think
