    After struggling with taking those Honda 2.4 valve covers off, I started unbolting the power steering pump to make things easier. Then a former Acura tech told me just to unbolt the hose from the pump. Goes from a 30 minute struggle to squeeze that cover out to 30 seconds taking a bolt off.

    DUDE! I had a 303 misfire, my CRV wouldn't idle - I replaced plugs and coils, no dice - then I saw this video - "I like to take the front cover off too because rodents build nests under there" SURE ENOUGH, a nest and chewed wires on 1 injector that must have started shorting - a little electrical tape, a dryer sheet put in there and I'm back in business baby! Thanks!

      Hey man. ..you being a guy with about a lifetime worth of experience of the auto industry. I gotta question or two if you don't care, I figure your the guy to ask hehe
      What's the best way to go as far as pay, promotions, and longevity and easier to work at , basically provide the best quality of life for the long run. ..independent shops? Dealerships? Or trying to start your own business?
      What's your take on all that, especially taking into consideration the direction the industry is going, same direction is been going for a loooong time, more tech, more electric, more hybrid, more different system designs more often. ..
      What's way would you go if you, knowing all you know now, were to start off again today. ..?

    • @aros007z
      @aros007z 4 года назад +2

      TheCoatneyadkins -most money I've made was working for dealerships, 90,000 a year for about 4 years in a
      Row. Rest of the years 55, 000 to 68,000 avg. yearly. Allowed me to buy my house etc...
      If you work for dealership you can get so good that you beat the book times easily.
      Same type of cars day in and day out so you get pretty good and fast. I was a tune up/drivability, smog licensed
      Tech here in SoCal. Sure you can have slow days especially in winter. But it averages out.
      Dealerships also send you to school while paying you to update on the latest technology.
      Warranty work doesn't pay that great but again when you do enough warranty work you can get fast
      With that also. So basically a new guy would benefit in my opinion from dealership experience because
      You can really learn a lot and get your feet wet, then in time venture out to Indy shops or even your own
      Business. At least that was my experience, good luck.

      @@aros007z thanks for the advice, I've worked at a few different independent shops since I quit driving a truck and started turning wrenches several years ago, so I'm not "brand" new to the industry, but I have never worked at a dealer. ...I've been noticing that alot of these independent shops just simply won't pay a wrench what he's worth, wether he can wrench good and at a good pace AND diag accurately or not. And they don't care if you got all ases or none. ..or even a ged for that matter, and no drug test, some will offer to pay under the table to avoid cold support...I mean literally an unsolicited offer right out of the gate in the hiring process.....all that crap so they don't have to feel bad about not paying you a decent wage for a job that actually requires a high level of skill and knowledge to be good at. I am going to a dealership soon!

    Sorry to tell you, you probably did not fix the oil leaking in the spark plug tubes, it is usually the bottom of the tube loosened at the head , unscrew & teflon tape and retighten. Oil in the tube will loosen the plug, causing misfires and blow by when the plug loosens. If you check what you did it in a few weeks and you will find oil on the coil pack shaft and down on the spark plug.Also if you pull the power steering brackets that hose can move out of the way and gives you room to gate the valve cover on/off without pulling the big bracket. And yes you should check the valve clearances over 120,000 miles , you’ll normally find the intakes in spec on just a little loose (usually don’t have to adjust those,unless it sounds like a sewing machine) but exhaust valves will be tight and need to adjust.

  • @gregblau8082
    @gregblau8082 4 года назад +3

    I also look at things like ect on the freeze frame to see if it's happening when cold. Head gasket was my first thought. When the plugs get loose it will arc against the tube and also you get exhaust heat coming up from the cylinder. That's 2 things that will mess up the rubber on the coil pack and tube seal.

    My partners car just stalled out and wouldn't turn on, every thing we did lead us too a bad fuel pump, my mate told me to spray wd40 in the air intake and if it starts it's definitely the fuel pump. It didn't start, I got new spark plugs put them in and boom she started right up

  • @jeremiahpike6372
    @jeremiahpike6372 4 года назад +2

    Pretty sure the spark plug came loose to cause the issue. Burnt up oil all over the plug from the spark plug tube seal. If a plug is left loose or came loose pressure from the combustion made it into the tube and burnt up the tube seal and allowed oil into the spark plug tube taking out the coil. Another possibility is a pcv system issue. Check the air filter for oily residue on the throttle body side of the filter if present the pcv valve could be sticking open intermittently.

    Had the same issue on a 2006 CR-V. Did you check the valve lash clearances? When hot, the valve clearances, especially the exhaust tighten up and could cause the misfire. I performed the valve lash clearance on all intake and exhaust lifters using feeler gauges and drove the car around to get the oil circulating. No more misfire when the engine is at operating temperature. Hope this helps.

    @Homie Hektor Hey, i'm having problem with my car only runs rough when warmed up. If I turn on the heat it will run rough rpm's will drop a little and go back same if I turn the wheel or do windows up or down yesterday it was really bad for a second i was sitting in a parking lot reading a text had interior lights on the car ran really rough and lights went out for a second like it wanted to stall. When I drive it runs great only happens when in park or at a light in drive. Here is a list of things I changed on the car: alternator, spark plugs, coils, battery, got the timing chain and timing done, cleaned the 02 sensors, cleaned the throttle body, new MAF sensor, new crankshaft and camshaft sensors, new valve gasket, checked all the wiring and grounds that i know of, changed the oil and filter, changed cabin and air filter, no codes are showing at all, changed PCV valve, checked for vacuum leaks. I think that's all I did. Been trying to find this problem for months no luck. If you can help would be great. Thanks (2 codes came up under ABS right now not sure if this can be my problem u140e and c2202) it's a Dodge Caliber 2009

    Leaking engine oil on the slark plug tube is bad for honda, it gaves many misfire codes, like mine it gave me P1339 with flashing check engine light, but the car was running fine no misfire symtomps, even that i went quickly to find a parkjng and next day i start inspecting ignition system.starting with distributor, and then removing spark plug and i find the cylinder number two spark plug covered with oil, i changed the valve cover gasket and tubes seals, and i crank the engine witj no spark plug inside to mak sure no engine oil leaking inside the spark plug tubes and then inatall new spark plugs even the old ones were new like one month old, and no more flashing check engine light.

    Looks like cyl 4 plug was left loose or started to back out for another reason and killed the tube seal and coil

    I would guess somebody left that plug loose and that is what attacked everything. I have defiantly seen this happen before when a plug is not tight as it should be.

    Should've used the special tool to properly put the seals in correctly to make sure it sealed all the way around evenly.

    Nice video but don't use wd-40 on rubber parts, use grease instead or dish soap.

      @@angeldelacruz7254 Most chemicals, especially penetrating oils damage rubber.
      In applications where rubber is exposed to certain fluids (brake fluid, trans oil, etc.) a special rubber is used to avoid damage. Haven't you ever seen a hose or rubber part (bushing) get destroyed from engine oil for example, that had been leaking on it? 😉
