    Nice interview!
    Alissa is such a technical and thoughtful musician, I cannot wait for her solo work and the thought of it being experimental and diverse and a real showcase of her vocal tool kit is very exciting!

    Always interesting to listen to the musicians trajetory in the industry, their advices to young generations... And how their own parents react on them being metal singers! Alissa's parents seem to be very cool and supportive! 😄🤘

      Given that gen Z is the youngest current generation of metalheads, which means that gen x/old millennials are the parents of generation Z, I’m rather optimistic about that. Boomers would be less liberal about that (even though they started metal).

    My god that woman is such a goddess! So talented, so gorgeous, so every positive adjective in the dictionary! 😍😅 I just saw her and the rest of Arch enemy live for the first time a couple of days ago and my god what an absolute ass-kicker of a show it was! And also.... I don't know how it's possible, but she's even more beautiful in person! I really REALLY hope that I get to see them live again and maybe, if I'm lucky, even meet her, even if it's just briefly during a signing session or something!

    I adore Alissa's music, outlook & ethics but find it a little sad she has never uttered the name of her former band The Agonist in any interview I know of :( The 3 big videos they released (Business Suits / And their Eulogies/ Thank you Pain) were all excellent and gave me at least an insight into the development of one of my current favourite vocalists. I know the stories are she joined Arch Enemy and left them in the lurch, but I'm sure there's more to it than that. Angela Gossow seems ethical and a decent manager so there must have been some sort of segue between bands. I'm really liking Vicky Psarakis work with the band after Alissa left so not all hope is lost!

    • @rumeysaolgun
      @rumeysaolgun Год назад +1

      The Agonist disbanded this summer due to the increasing costs of touring, Vicky continues music with her nu-metal band Sicksense. Imo Vicky’s vocal technique is much better than Alissa, but she lacks the beautiful tone, charisma, and the song writing skills Alissa has. I feel like that has been the core reason why the band’s numbers kept going down over the years. I LOVE Alissa’s stuff with The Agonist, exceptional vocal composition and lyrics on her part, and I just wish that there was more to listen to.
      Your gut feeling about the transition is correct though, oh boy so much has happened. Will be a long comment.
      Alissa explained a bunch of times that she didn’t leave but she was kicked out. In one particular podcast she attended with her boyfriend Doyle, she explicitly talked about how they let her know she was kicked out in a parking lot, how she was suddenly blocked from the social accounts she was managing, how much “they stole from her”, and how she felt betrayed. She wrote a bunch of songs in Arch Enemy as well that are apparently about the betrayal. She also wished that Vicky herself reached out to her to have the transition with her knowledge, like the one she had with Angela. She did everything she could to front both The Agonist and Arch Enemy and arrange the tour dates accordingly, but eventually it was not well received by the band and led to her unwilling departure.
      After that podcast, The Agonist feels the need to release a statement of their own because how “she is badmouthing them every chance she gets”. They tell their own side of the story explaining how “she was miserable on tour”, how rude she was towards the crew and the fans, and a bunch of other stuff about how unprofessional she was as she quit but came back many times, and always delivered lyrics and vocals late. That’s why “they could only release 3 albums”. They deny blocking her from the accounts, and continue touching upon Alissa’s diva attitude based on her response in the parking lot conversation: “There is nobody else that could do what I do”.
      Once she makes plans to join another band without consulting them, they see this as the last straw since they are not a high grossing band like Arch Enemy is. They start looking for other vocalists while they are still on tour with Alissa, and eventually reaches an agreement with Vicky. Vicky is apparently talented, much more approachable, and very strict with deliverables and they manage to release many albums in a shorter span of time.
      When those albums do not make good numbers though, Vicky in an interview claims that Alissa has been “trying to kill the band ever since she was fired” via the use of her influence within the industry. Alissa and Angela as Kult Management releases a long statement about how that is not true - she is extremely busy with her current projects, hasn’t been in contact with the band in years, and Vicky is probably “misinformed or confused”. They are both women that are working hard to make their music heard, and Vicky can feel free to reach out to her for help.
      The back and forth, to my knowledge, stops here. Both sides are right in their own arguments, but I guess we will never know the exact truth - if her being fired the way she was is 100% justified, and if she did play any part for The Agonist’s eventual disbanding.
