“I’m a happy person, but I don’t like happy music.” Couldn’t have said it better myself. Thank you for that. People always get startled when I tell them what I listen to. You want to know why I’m always happy? Its because the anger, aggression, and stress have an output when I listen to metal.
i can relate. i am generally very happy, extroverted and friendly to everyone. but for some reason I really like extreme and/or sad/dark music and I almost always dress all black. not "emo/goth", but just black clothes, sometimes white elements, but no colors, because I don't like colors on myself. no clue about how all of this is supposed to make sense. people are weird lol.
I haven't watched a ton of Alissa interviews, but this is by far the best, and the one where she has seemed the most engaged. Hats off to Elizabeth who has a knack as an interviewer for bringing out the most genuine side of the people she interviews. I appreciate a great interviewer and Elizabeth most definitely is. One of the best I've ever seen on RUclips.
Yes. I watched her channel grow rather quickly and was there when she had her first of many interviews, and it's really cool, she's just a natural at it. Far better than most of the journalists with their canned questions.
I think it’s also because Elizabeth actually knows what it is like to have your voice as your instrument. That the interviewees open up to that, that she really knows what they are talking about. And that she is really nice and open 😀
A lot of interviews aren’t about the person, but an album/song/tour/whatever. The person gets lost in that. I had the opportunity to talk to Alissa for a bit earlier this year and she’s a very genuine and kind person.
I met Alissa in Belgium a few years back... Never met a singer that took so much time for her fans... She didn't care if the signing session went on a little longer, she just wanted to be able to talk to everyone for just a minute. Still one of my best memories is meeting her and the rest of Arch Enemy
More talent on the screen in this interview than all of the last 10 years worth of Grammy awards put together! Both Alissa and Elizabeth are world class singers in their own right and to hear their perspectives on all of the topics discussed here is absolutely a treat. Thanks to Alissa for being part of one of these interviews and thanks to Elizabeth for keeping this amazing channel going with awesome content like this!
They always say "Never meet your heroes" but I think Alissa is an exception to the rule. What a genuinely awesome person. Hope to see you in Australia again soon Alissa! I was at the Download Festival in Melbourne, was an amazing show.
I just realized something. I can't growl or scream, only sing - and when I sing along to Arch Enemy songs there's always a very clear melody I can follow, as if there were cleans "hiding" beneath the growls. Listening to Alissa explain how she experiences and produces these vocals, I find that it's exactly that - there's a clean melody underneath the growl. I'm in awe! I used to sing "The World is Yours" to my daughter, who was born in 2016, and the melody stuck with me and with her to this day. She was also obsessed with the video when she was a toddler. Anyway, I learned something new today, that makes perfect sense and I love it when your perception of the world aligns with one of an artist you respect 💜
Handshake with Hell for the next review! I'm not sure another Arch Enemy song shows off Alissa's range quite the way that one does. Her cleans and harsh vocals are perfect in that song :)
Every front person should have a tea with Elizabeth. These interviews, or should I say chats, are really fun to watch and a real treasure for the fans. I'm not a huge fan of Arch Enemy myself, but I can surely appreciate their talent. And after this interview, I will look more of their work for sure.
Two hours passed in one breath. For more than a year, Alice has been my favorite performer. Her voice and manner of performance saves from all the difficulties in life. When it's bad or you need to think and make a difficult decision - you turn on something from Arch Enemy, and life takes on new colors.
Alissa seems like such a genuinely nice woman. On top of being an amazing artist. Can't wait for the new album ! Try to do an interview with Lauren Hart and Elize Ryd and feminine perfection will be achieved 😁
Good job, Elizabeth. I would have been blinded and locked up from the shock of talking face to face with a major star. Allyssa is the top metal female star today, in opinion

Alissa is one of my favorite people. I can't put into words what seeing them live back in May did for me. First time I actually cried at a show. Something was just so amazing and mystical about seeing her on stage that it really hit me!
I remember discovering Alissa when she was in The Agonist. They were opening for a band that I was seeing (I think it was After the Burial). I was not prepared. I was front row while they were setting up and when they started my mind was BLOWN.
I can't believe you made this video with her! I haven't watched your channel in a while. I was binging them a while back. It's nice to find this golden nugget after being away for a while.
There is a documentary called Soaring Highs and Brutal Lows: Women In Metal. The artist includes Alissa White-Gluz, Floor Jansen,Doro Pesch, Kobra Paige, Simone Simons, Marcella Bovio, Charlotte Wessels, Anneke Van Giersbergan, and Mark Jansen. I love everyone of these women. I enjoyed this documentary so much and I hope I spelled all the names correctly.
Alissa's lyrics are extremely uplifting and motivating and are fuel for me when I am feeling down, especially Reason to Believe, The Eagle Flies Alone, A Fight I Must Win, and Carry the Cross. 🤘
She is actually a sweet warm person. I feel comfortable listening to her speaking, I feel the humbleness and empathy she has. Not a cold person at all which is beautiful in someone who could be tempted to be cold and arrogant cause of her fame and everything, but she is not cold at all. Very nice lady, thank you Elizabeth for giving us this interview, I will see her live in about two weeks. I'm very happy about it and I'm glad she has success as an artist, we need more famous people to be this warm hearted and down to earth. 💜
That is such a great interview. Alissa seems like such a lovely, intelligent and talented person. Plus she’s so beautiful. Seeing her get passionate and genuinely enjoy talking about the things she loves was great to see. Awesome job, Elizabeth! 🤘🏻🖤
This was a great conversation, great insights, and the way Alissa likened her vocals to painting was fascinating! Yes I love supporting the artists, especially with physical copies!
This interview or chat was very interesting! I know nothing about Alissa but really liked her in the Arch Enemy videos. I used to be a metal music and industrial music lover for many years but backed away. I am very impressed by Alissa because she is vegan and very talented and very intelligent and very beautiful (I could stare into her eyes forever) and no drugs or alcohol and I really love that she likes classical music. I was raised on classical music but mostly German and Italian Baroque. The way she can go from cleans to growls is amazing! I doubt I will go to an Arch Enemy concert...that's just not me anymore...but I think I would like to go to just one for the experience but I am struggling with a serious health issue now so the answer is no. I do still like the way metal music allows young people to vent themselves at concerts as long as they don't do that in public.
I can't imagine being persecuted for listening to metal, but I was married to a woman that had to escape her husband to allow her kids to attend college in the states, so I believe it. The stories she told me of people being killed for as little as choosing a different religion, or teaching your child, a little girl, to read or allowing them to show their skin. I have never heard any Arch Enemy music until your last 2 videos. I like it a lot. I will seek out more Arch Enemy music. I am mostly a Heavy Metal fan from the 70s, worked countless major concerts in the early 80s as a stage hand and spot operator, but love all forms of music as long as it sounds good to me. Alissa, Your story is an inspiring one and I am glad I listened. Elizabeth, your RUclips channel is great and for now I pick through your videos and really like how you react to the different types of music you review. Great Job, Great Interview!
Yes!! Honestly, I love your original stuff and your vocal analysis videos, but your Tea Time interviews are some of the best interviews I've ever seen. They don't even feel like interviews, just hangouts. Love it! Can't wait for more. Gotta get Cristina Scabbia on here!!
Man Alissa is just a kick ass person. Lullabies for the Dormant Mind is actually still one of my favourite death metal albums ever, and no disrespect to the folks involved but like 75% of that love is for her vocals alone. I like what she's done with Arch Enemy too, and almost everything she has done guest vocals for. If you like melodic death metal with mixed vocals, you can't go wrong with that album.
Same here, this album is amazing. ...And There Eulogies Sang me Too Sleep was my cellphone ringtone until I started dating and my girlfriend got mad at me because anytime someone called me, she got scared.
The Lacuna Coil performance Alissa is talking about is their 119 Show! The show is circus themed and the songs where Cristina is suspended are "Falling" and "Wide Awake" . Lacuna Coil are an amazing band, Cristina's like 5'1" and a belting powerhouse while Andrea has fantastic growls. Very beauty&the beast vocal combo. Neither of the songs sung in the air feature Andrea, fyi! This interview has had me laughing and crying, btw. This was one of your best tea times. Also, whales look really weird before they went back into the ocean, PBS Eons and SciShow on here have a ton of information on the incredible history of life on Earth 😁
I listen to her since The Agonist times. I am gratwful she joined AA. She is rhe best that happened to the band in their history. I love Angela too and I am grateful that she is still part of the band.
What is better than a goddess? One goddess interviewing another goddess! Thank u SO MUCH for this! Long live to The Charismatic Voice! Long Live Alissa and Arch Enemy!
Aside from being absolutely stunning, Alissa is one of the best metal vocalists performing today. I first saw her with The Agonist and was amazed at her range. Since she progressed to Arch Enemy, her vocal talent has just got even better. The deep growls and perfect beautiful cleans are fantastic. Her predecessor in AE, and now their manager, Angela Gossow amazed me vocally too but Alissa is just another level. So glad you got to interview her and also appreciate her talent coming from a classical background. Oh and to boot she's with Doyle; the most musclebound vegan I've ever seen. 'Where do you get your protein'? Food you morons ;)
Been listening to Arch Enemy since the 2000’s when my college roommate showed me their songs, along with Lamb of God and Children of Bodom. Was hooked ever since. Also took some classes where they said that you could get arrested for singing Christian hymns in China, so people would meet in secret areas at night and would mouth out the lyrics; they wouldn’t even whisper it for fear of getting caught/ tortured. So we are fortunate to be able to listen to all kinds of music/ expressions. Thanks for the interview, it was great 😊
Wildlife explorer was the pamphlets that came out monthly. My son also collected them. You have made my world with this interview. I'm 62yrs old and Arch Enemy was my first influence. "Eagles Wings" was and will always be my favorite song. I Admire you Alissa🤘🖤 Thank you for this awesome interview "Charismatic Voice" ~ Elizabeth 😁
2 amazingly beautiful women, hanging out over a beverage, talking about their lives and passions.... what's not to love! Great interview with a great guest!
@@Heyllow The regular singer got ill, and Nightwish had to either cancel the concert or find a replacement within an hour. They got Alissa and Elize from Kamelot, and adapted the set list to what the two girls could sing. So, with the lyrics in their hands, they could sing the Nightwish songs and saved the concert.
I've been waiting for this for a long time, ever since you teased it on your first Arch Enemy analysis! Big fan of Alissa and Elizabeth so I'm looking forward to this 😊
No Joy is a very good Indie and Shoegaze band I like them I have two albums "More Faithful" and "Wait To Pleasure". I love Alissa's vocals in The Agonist old stuff also love them with Vicky Psarakis, and now on Arch Enemy's latest singles that she's bringing back her melodic/guttural vocals dynamics in her performances, which is a very good choice.
This was great. I've always loved Alissa's artistry. It's almost unreal to think that this is the same woman who is an absolutely fierce performer on stage. I had to watch 'Kamelot "Sacrimony" ft. Alissa White-Gluz and Elize Ryd' when Elizabeth react first time to Alissa. That reaction was so good 😂
I'm a *giant* Jinjer fan, & Tatiana's my queen, but I love women in metal, Alissa seems super-cool, & I have enjoyed a few Arch Enemy songs. I'll have to check out more from them.
Amazing interview. You could tell Alissa and Elizabeth really connected well, and it comes through in the quality of the conversation. There was definitely a lot of knowledge and respect on display. I really enjoyed listening in, thank you both.
Elizabeth : Phenomenal singer AND Interviewer! -Interesting all the way through! -YOU make the interviewee talk! - You are prepared , genuine , humble AND the best vocal : technical interviewer! ..thank You for all Your work and videos..
Experiencing a plethora of personal hardships at the moment so being able to listen to this today has been a great mental assist of distraction and joy. You are both fascinating and delightful
Being able to ask that question is what made me pull the trigger on finally creating a patreon account and joining. I needed to hear you both talk about outfits and loved every minute of it.
listening to Alyssa's voice I never thought her voice would sound like that I don't know what it would have sounded like but I never expected the way it sounded in everyday conversation but she is just as beautiful in person well on the screen I mean! as her music is great
First of all, huge thank you for this interview. I discovered your channel recently and love your videos and your curiosity. Also, been a fan of Alissa, her work and Arch Enemy for at least 5 years now. Watched a bunch of interviews and videos of her as well, but I can tell, that you did god's work for the fans with this one, really. This is genuinely the best and most intimate conversation with her so far. It is a great opportunity to "get to know" her a bit better. You did a fantastic job!!! I hope another one might happen in the future as well. Love both of you! 💙🤘🏻🧡 Btw, I don't know if you've heard it already but if you are seeing this, you should check out her version of Swan Lake, Op.20 acapella. It's fantastic!
Elizabeth, I really enjoyed this episode in particular, as Alissa is one of my all time favorite singers. I also appreciate the fact that you show bits of music videos as well!
Spectacular!!! I met Alissa, personaly, at my camera repair shop in Lisbon. She is a wonderfull person. I loved this conversation, as I did all the others you've had. Time flyed. Hopefuly, you will invite Floor someday. Good work, Elizabeth. Keep them coming.
Alissa White-Gluz Is Badass. She is An Amazing Singer And Person In General. Plus She's Canadian From Montreal Canada!! Great Interview. She Actually Formed Her Own Band Before Joining Arch Enemy And The Band Is The Agonist!!🤘🤘🤘🤘
I had so much fun listen to this interview! Alissa is my favorite female metal vocalist, and both Alissa and Elizabeth are amazing, funny and interesting women! Such a nice and wholesome talk. This was a dream come true! Hoping some day i can see an interview with my favorite non-metal vocalist, Aurora, too!
Congratulations Elizabeth on the 1M subs and on landing Alissa for this interview. Love her and I miss her clean singing (I know she still does it w/ AE but rarely so)
Great interview, this Canadian loves Elizabeth and now AWG. I would also, as asked by others, love to watch you interview Courtney LaPlante, btw thank you for the Brittany Hayes interview again I highly recommend it to others.
You have so many talents and gifts that not a lot of musicians don't have you deserve a fruitful giving to your life. Thank you for your music you give to your audience 🙏 ❤❤
Lovely interview, thank you both! My favourite part was Alissa's advice regarding online harassment. Very Stoic. Maybe she's just living in the wrong part of Canada for raspberries? I grew up in Southern Ontario and we could find wild raspberries. There was also this house not far from me, at a corner, with a whole hedgerow of raspberry bushes right along the sidewalk. As kids we would pick that thing clean! Raspberries really are the best.
Had to come back and listen to this interview again. So good. Alissa is an amazing vocalist, from the Cleans to the Screams. You can also check her out on a new video game - Metal: Hellsinger . The game is cross between Doom Eternal and Beat Saber.
Glad to see you interview Alissa! Love arch enemy even back in the day. Met Chad Grey from hellyeah I'd like to see you judge his vocals along with in flames reaction. 💯%❤️
Great interview. I could have listened to you two talk for at least another two hours. Alissa, regarding the challenge of recording your dynamic vocal. Have you ever tried to split your microphone signal by using something like the Radial JS-3, and run the signals into two identical preamps? You can adjust the input gain on one for the quieter parts and on the other one for the loud ones. You can keep both signals in the operational sweet spot where you get the color from the preamp you want and don't need to apply unnecessary amounts of compression. Just record both preamps to separate tracks, and cut and combined them later. The JS-3 would even enable you to use three identical preamps, if you wanted to.
Two amazing, genuine, intelligent, down to earth, beautiful, talented, creative, inspirational ladies who keep things to facts & keep things real. Elizabeth, thank you for being your awesome self as always with a relaxing, friendly, awesome chat. Alissa, thank you for being you & being a normal human being who just happens to be gifted. Ladies, thank you both for a fun, interesting conversation.
Came in late to the premiere. Watching it now. Alissa is fun to listen to. I now need to know more of Arch enemy. Great interview. Now to finish this. 😉
Gosh what a great Tea Time!! Arch Enemy is one of my favorite bands. I've been watching your channel for a while and it's always very fun and interesting. I know you are a big Dio fan, have you ever watched the cover of "We Rock" by Metal Allegiance including Alissa on vocals? It's a great watch
I think now You have to invite Floor as well😁 Alissa's so cool though! It's actually crazy that someone so pleasing to the eye can be so intimidating on the mic!😁

The story of the squirrel inspired me to write lyrics for "De***itation" (put together in about 5-10 minutes, so a real rough draft) while binging Arch Enemy music.
*🎶 intro*
*V1* (harsh)
I look down
from my throne
The seeds are planted
Now I wait
The flowers bloom
It's my time
To crush my foes!
*Chorus (harsh repeat X2)*
DE***ITATION
DE***ITATION
DE***ITATION
*V2*
Look
On my work
Ye mighty
And despair
Despair
Chorus (repeat x2)
*V3*
H3*ds will fall
H3*ds will roll
Let the world see
The end of beauty
The end of hope
Everything will die
🎶🎶🎶
*Bridge (clean)*
Everything that ends brings something new
From life to death, from death to life
We can find peace through the strife
With time you will bloom again
🎶🎶🎶
(Harsh)
You will bloom again
*End*
Let's record the song 😂🤩

I Admire you Alissa🤘🖤
Thank you for this awesome interview "Charismatic Voice" ~ Elizabeth 😁
2 amazingly beautiful women, hanging out over a beverage, talking about their lives and passions.... what's not to love!
Great interview with a great guest!
Handshake with Hell should definitely be broken down next by you! Such an amazing song
Girl crushed on Alissa, still do… She’s badass, compassionate, kind and gorgeous! 🤘🏾🙌🏽🖤💙
Loved the conversation. Alissa is one of my favorite vocalists and she is so much fun. Thanks for the interview!
It is about ten years ago when Alissa and Elize had to help out Nightwish in Denver. Legendary performance.
Hey, never heard about this story, what happened ?
@@Heyllow The regular singer got ill, and Nightwish had to either cancel the concert or find a replacement within an hour.
They got Alissa and Elize from Kamelot, and adapted the set list to what the two girls could sing. So, with the lyrics in their hands, they could sing the Nightwish songs and saved the concert.

I've been waiting for this for a long time, ever since you teased it on your first Arch Enemy analysis! Big fan of Alissa and Elizabeth so I'm looking forward to this 😊
Handshake with Hell is for sure the next Arch Enemy song to review to see Alissa's clean vocal range.
Agreed she rolled back the years. Reminded me of her agonist days.
I’ve been so excited for this. So cool to hear Alissa talk about all kinds of things
I think this is the first time i've watched a 2 hour long interview and wished for more! awesome interview! thank you.
That reaction was so good 😂
Just saw Arch Enemy in Wacken Germany. Last show I saw. It was the cherry on top of a magical week
I'm a *giant* Jinjer fan, & Tatiana's my queen, but I love women in metal, Alissa seems super-cool, & I have enjoyed a few Arch Enemy songs. I'll have to check out more from them.
Check her out in the agonist. Much better than anything she’s done with AE.
Alissa is like a female version of Rob Halford. Nice, funny and down-to-earth
@@ericsmith8129 whatever happened to The Agonist? I also liked her better with The Agonist.
Amazing interview. You could tell Alissa and Elizabeth really connected well, and it comes through in the quality of the conversation. There was definitely a lot of knowledge and respect on display. I really enjoyed listening in, thank you both.
Yes! My Canadian Metal Hero 🤘😎👍
Alissa is hands down what I think an angel looks like and sounds like.
Great interview! Long shot I know but would love to see James Hefield
Elizabeth : Phenomenal singer AND Interviewer! -Interesting all the way through! -YOU make the interviewee talk! - You are prepared , genuine , humble AND the best vocal : technical interviewer! ..thank You for all Your work and videos..
What an absolute pleasure to watch! Thank you both so much for getting together and just chatting it out!
Welcome!
Alissa really seems to be one of the nicest persons on Earth!
listening to Alyssa's voice I never thought her voice would sound like that I don't know what it would have sounded like but I never expected the way it sounded in everyday conversation but she is just as beautiful in person well on the screen I mean! as her music is great
Love Alissa.
Her contributions with Angra and Sandy in Black Widows's Web is stunning
Sim kkkk
The Agonist was amazing when I was in high school. Was so excited to see you interviewing Alissa.
Btw, I don't know if you've heard it already but if you are seeing this, you should check out her version of Swan Lake, Op.20 acapella. It's fantastic!
I was sure Alissa was from Montreal Canada as I heard her talking French in an interview and heard the accent. She's so nice.
Holy crap what an amazing interview. Thank you so much for your channel Elizabeth, you're an incredible talent.
Finally! One of the more inspiring persons in music. Both on and off stage. Thanks.
Great interview. Alyssa is amazing in every possible way. Now we wait for interview with Floor. That would be awsome
I love how real your interviews are, Elizabeth. Thank you
Congratulations Elizabeth on the 1M subs and on landing Alissa for this interview. Love her and I miss her clean singing (I know she still does it w/ AE but rarely so)
This is an awesome interview! You both seemed really chill and enjoy having conversations, now I'm excited for more 😄
Great interview, this Canadian loves Elizabeth and now AWG.
The game is cross between Doom Eternal and Beat Saber.
btw, here's her performance at Gamescom for the video game: ruclips.net/video/UysS2CuXu10/видео.html
Glad to see you interview Alissa! Love arch enemy even back in the day. Met Chad Grey from hellyeah I'd like to see you judge his vocals along with in flames reaction. 💯%❤️
Great interview, Elizabeth. Another of the many excellent metal performers that are also delightful people and full of creativity.
Another great interview. Elizabeth, I truly enjoy how happy you are to be interviewing people.
Alissa is a wonderful singer.I love Arch Enemy!
This is a great interview/hangout. Fantastic people! And a great idea for content. Looking forward to more!
I think now You have to invite Floor as well😁 Alissa's so cool though! It's actually crazy that someone so pleasing to the eye can be so intimidating on the mic!😁
The two of you are so cool! Loved listening to the conversation.
I am looking forward to this interview! Elizabeth, your are awesome
OMG This woman is a GODDESS!!
