    Nick is the man. I got to hang out with him, Gregor, and a roadie for like half an hour after a show during the In Requiem tour, they were really cool guys, would have hung out with them even if they weren't in PL! Cool interview

    Nick is so cheerful in his interviews these days, which is charming to see. I remember the interviews from back in the day when he and Greg would be so miserable, which I'm not sure how much of it was an act or how much of it was intentional.

    • @Goryptor
      @Goryptor 2 года назад

      Both act and intentional...the majority of doom acts are/were your typical stoner manchildren...but the Cavanagh brothers, they could be proper miserable twats at times :) They played their majestic 30th anniversary gig of 3 Acts in Brno (CZE) and the DJ would play Paradise Lost songs in between the acts. You should have seen Vincent, I've never seen a British fella so livid and agitated as he rushed out of the backstage to give the DJ some proper Scouse shit he had no chance to understand :D

    • @fullmetalguy8357
      @fullmetalguy8357 2 года назад +2

      @@Goryptor Yeah I suppose it fit the image all those bands were trying to create back then. Dour, dry and sardonic. But that story about Vincent is quite interesting, because usually I've heard stories about Danny Cavanagh being the unstable one. At least they were good enough sports to have Nick on stage with them to sing Fragile Dreams at some point in that tour.

    Nick is one of metal's greatest vocalists. From his early DM vocals to late 90's PL vocals to Bloodbath.

    One of my top 5 metal vocalists ever...his clean vocals are superb. Love the growls. And the raspield vox are second best only to The Het himself....Love Paradise Lost.

      Listen to Bloodbath's latest "Survival Of The Sickest". You won't regret it. Album of the year for me. It doesn't break any new ground, but it is one damn enjoyable DM album. Really well written. The best of the Nick Holmes era Bloodbath. It's sick . . .

    I think it's a missed opportunity to have Nick Holmes as an interview partner and not trying to get into some philosopical areas with him. He won't explain his lyrics but it would be interesting to dig deeper into the thought process and influences behind them.

    The first years as a Paradise Lost fan I wasn't crazy about Nick's voice. He was off key a lot, he was weaker on mid ranges and didn't have a real aspect that set him apart.
    And then Draconian Times was where he NAILED IT.
    He found his voice.

      Me too. That's a long time ago already and i'm glad he changed his mind at one point and decided to follow up Mike in Bloodbath. 'Survival of the Sickest' is one hell of an oldschool deathmetal album with todays production values, It's Nick's best effort with them to date and i'll be blasting it for years to come!
