Kurt I have to tell you, you are the smoothest shifter I’ve ever seen, and I drove for 52 years and rode with a lot of drivers, you are the best and Opie is by far the best co-driver
He's the MANN on SHIFTING that 18spd!!!!!!!😎
Kurt drives old school and does a fine job of it!
Smooth as can be
But is expected, his personality seems to be the same, calm and orderly.
Well, this is my first time watching him, I may just subscribe since my last two drivers aren't posting 😏
German blood & brains. (?)
Wish I could shift that well! Most drivers are impatient and grind it til you find it. It's his truck though and he takes care of it from what I see.
At least you got a friend that would die for you got to love the unconditional love Dogs give if only people could do that 👍🏻🤘🏻
Thank your Mom for convincing you to show some of the towns you have gone through. I like to follow where you have traveled on google earth. No, I am not a stalker. Thanks Kurt!
hehe you're not the only one, I tend to have google maps running and keeping track aswell for the sake of entertainment
I agree. I love seeing the town names. Praying you miss the ice!!
As far as that truck stop locking people out in the middle of a tornado, I certainly hope that you called the new stations and reported this to the media. It should’ve been on the news, local and national.
I just stumbled across your channel and really enjoyed the ride. Opie is beautiful, and I love the steps you have for him!
That has got to be some of the most gentle shifting I've ever seen.
I have a 9 year old German Shepherd and he has the same problem with his hind legs, but he runs it out. A tip when you open your pool back up let Opie swim in it. It'll do him alot good. If he's not afraid of pools. Lol.
Hey SCHIMDT. Hope you are enjoying life and your family. The way it should always be. B SAFE 🚛
Your pup has the same temperament as mine! They help us big time on this road
Just found your channel. I've been thinking, at age 67 about getting back out there. You're smooth with the truck and in control. No horn blowing, no cussing, I like that. Run safe, I'll be back.
I lived in Indiana for 10 years, the whole state is beautiful and no matter how many times you go to the same places it seems to have its own beauty.
It's the roads that are so bad. I-70 I mean just about every interstate and thank goodness they finally shut down Indianapolis so they would do some work in the town because that roads all the town was absolutely horrible.
@@jeffouellette9946 I lived up north, us-30 was not to bad. I-69 thu was one different thing. They have been fixing the roads down by indi for years, I don't think idot will ever get it done. 😂
I've lived in Indiana for 46 years and I agree with you 100%
There are still some parts of Indiana I have not seen yet though
afternoon Kurt, you and Opie have a great and safe day!
Looked like Opie’s nose was cold, laying like he was. Hoping you don’t get caught in the storm. Y’all stay safe out there!!
Probably was a tad chilly Millie
I love all the different points of view. And everyone is right, you clearly know how to shift smoothly! Drive safe!
I have to laugh at myself. I feel great trepidation when driving a mere pickup on highway and hoping my vehicle fits in the lane…. You guys do it with confidence.
Hi from Indiana. Southern Indiana IS beautiful. Rolling hills and wooded areas. The farther north you go in Indiana the flatter the land is. I always pronounced the town Loogootee as Lou-go-tee.
I'm retired after 21 years started in 94 as a flatbedder then the rest of my career as a frozen bull rack hauler!! That truck stop you messed, I also had a bad experience in!! Hope you made it home safely!! I agree, and share and have done myself, I ve driven in a foot of snow at 80 thousand lbs than on ice ❄. Safe travels and God bless you and your family. Happy holidays!!
Love Opie! He's so handsome!
Such a gorgeous fur baby ❤❤❤❤❤
Hey man, I can only travel with you posting these videos.
It gets me outta the house.
Thanks brother 👍🇺🇲
Now this is how you drive a truck. Cool and smooth. Enjoy and be safe. Love your copilot.
Hope your hanging in there brother wish you and little buddy nothing but peace and prosperity man stay positive.
Your mom was right...thanks for tagging the towns you go thru. Keep on trucking...love the channel
Great video Kurt hope all you drivers make it safe through this storm system I will do my best to keep up with the plowing roads in my area in Mn have a great day be safe.
Thanks for a beautiful ride. It was much needed today. Stay safe and God bless.
Your welcome Heather, thanks for watching
You really make me miss the road are used to be a truck driver. I did it for 11 years and I loved it so much. Thank you for the memory on the road. I love you for that. God bless you and be safe.
Love your content such a calm demeanor such a calm shifting it’s a pleasure washing you drive this beautiful KW
Beautiful German you have there. I chose a Malinois and sometimes I wish I would have chosen a German.
Thank you Uber Mom, for the serious suggestion of town names 😊👍
That bridge 🌉 right before St. Louis, is always so pretty at night ☮️
OMG ! That is unreal of them to 🔐 the doors . I would have done the same thing. I was surprised at your reaction, then I realized what you was doing.. Yessss Opie make sure you water 💦 everything, lol
We are proud of how you handled the situation 😊👍
I would love to see the archery 🏹 shooting, I may have mentioned this a while ago, but my dad opened a archery 🏹 shop. My dad hand made bows, arrows, of course that means that my whole family shot… I miss it. Thank you for the great small town shots, very neat buildings 😊👋👍😁🦮🐕🦺🦮🥶💦💦
Yup I remember you telling me that. You will like Saturdays video.
God bless you, my man. It's because of you that we enjoy all we have.
Got to really enjoy the sound of First Class What a beautiful rig Please stay warm and safe in your travels
Your truck sounds awesome. Thank you for sharing
Thank You , for the pet ramp ! People who treat animal well have good character !
Always a pleasure Kurt 👍🚛🇺🇸 stay safe
Good video today Kurt. Stay safe my friend. God bless you all. 🙏🙏
Amazing as always. God bless you
Came across your video. Lovely trip I live in Indiana. Lovely dog too he looks like my Oddy. Thanks for the ride.
This is a massive storm, hope you make it home safe.
Cool bridge in St Louis. Can see the Arch. We went up in the Arch when son was in high school. Signs everywhere that said to duck head when entering seat (to ride up to the top). I bonked my head. My husband just shook his head. Yeah. I’m a dork too.
Thanks for another good video. I have a 10 year old German Shepard Maverick and he’s just like Opie walking with his nose on the ground I have to call him all the time when we’re going for a walk he just loves sniffing everything. First time in the mountains he got overwhelmed with so many new smells. German Shepard’s are so special. They get a lot of character with age.
Hate black ice. Be safe ✌️
I do love those new collars. Hope you can get back home with out weather difficulties. We had a short period of freezing fog the other morning but was gone by the time the school busses started rolling. Of course the freezing fog made black ice, yuk. I could tell when it started and stopped because the trucks started and stopped running buy the house. We live on a shortcut between Avenue of the Saints and US 61. I still have few old trucking friends who hit the horn or the Jake on the way buy during the day. Well hope that you make it home fine, Kurt. Say howdy to Uber Dad and family and wish them a fabulous holidays.
Just found your channel. Your shepherd is gorgeous. God bless you and yours this Holiday season.
Thanks for sharing.
Like I mentioned earlier Kurt, we do 1/2 can of tuna in water with kibble every day to each one of our XXXL breed dogs. We have been blessed with our dog’s longevity living past 11-13 years when typically the life span is 5-7 years. We have not had any issues with arthritis.
So you put tuna and water in thier food?
@@truckingwithschmidt7120 I suspect he means "Can Tuna that is packed in water". Some can's of tuna are packed in oil. I doubt Opie would complain about the small amount of tuna smelling water from the can, he might even consider it Gourmet Grub, when added to his regular kibble..... Frankly, I'm going to grab a can of Tuna for my pooch "as a treat". Jax would probably enjoy the treat too... Worth noting: There are no restrictions on Tuna packed in water. But Tuna packed in oil has to be limited due to the oil. Too much oil may result in diarrhea, pancreatitis, obesity, allergies etc. ( I had to look it up)....
It was slick on the secondary roads up here in Northern Indiana between Fort Wayne and Elkhart Thursday night into Friday morning.
Just found your channel and I'm glad I did...!!!! Nice truck and awesome dog...
Stay safe out there...!!!
You and your family be safe
Looks like just snow but it will be windy. Much colder next week. I hope you have First Class ready for winter.
Try Glucosamine for Opie's stiffness my daughter in law uses it on my grandpuppy (that is close to 100 lbs). We are in Northwestern Ontario, Canada. Love the videos take care of Opie (and yourself). 😊
Kurt nice view of your known as cool truck big red.Op happily found some green grass it looks like.😎
For Opie, consider Tumeric. My Golden has an arthritic knee and this really helps. For dogs on Amazon.
Have a safe trip home kurt. Hope it
Works out tell everyone I said hi.
Good luck.
Great Trucking video
Thank's
To everyone who reads this may God bless you and I wish you all the best in life!!!!☝️🌎❤
Nice video Kurt, I can say I punched a key board or 2 at Loves truck stop. Sometime maybe I run into you and the German coming and going into Greenfield, IN. I seen a few of the company trailers at few places and the background looks like the warehouse area I drop and pick up some. Mother nature has her ways in the Midwest. I always say just wait to the end of the day,. Mother nature will change the weather guaranteed.Take care and have safe trails keeping the rubber on the road.
You are close to my neck of the woods. I'm about an hour from Concordia. Safe travels!
Enjoy the weather. Much colder is coming.
I live in Boonville and remember the tornado. I didn't realize they locked out drivers. That's ridiculous. I'm a former driver. Be safe and Happy Holidays.
You are The man!!
I WATCH YOUR VIDEOS AND JUST TRUCKINGS VIDEO,S HAVEN,T WATCHED IN A FEW MONTHS .HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Jasper In., is one of the prettiest little towns. I was lucky enough to visit a few times. Madison In., is also very nice. Love the videos, I feel like I'm on the trip with u.🌞
Poor dog he’s going to chock on that burger😂😂 he’s cute❤. God bless you and your dog be safe.
Im in Billings Montana and had at my home 35 below the first day and night. Im on a well and froze up an still 4 days later no water. 40 degree above daily heaters been running hard. BUT it better be resolved tomorrow as i am starting to stink.
I love Pop Tarts. I have since I was a little kid. Today I ran out of jelly, so what did I do? I put peanut butter on the back side of an untoasted strawberry frosted Pop Tart. It was delicious! You should try it! Safe travels 😊
Taking care of equipment is taking care of business. Good stuff.
Hi Kurt & Opie. Another great vlog. Tis the season unfortunately ☃️🥶 Hurry up spring.😂 I saw the forecast 4 next week & it is going 2 b dangerously cold here. Some snow chances 2. Just in time 4 all those Christmas travelers. 🎄 ☃️🤪 Thank goodness my family are staying put. Have a blessed night. B safe out there. God is your pilot 🙏 ♥️
I have family who farm and live in Iowa and yes the weather can get tough. Thankfully now I have the option to avoid the bad weather as the older generation has passed on and or winters in the south.
I rarely use the fuel pump card reader because it can be hacked I go inside and pay for it great video keep up the good work God bless from GA and stay safe and happy holidays
Love your channel keep up the good work!
Thanks for the names!
HELLO KURT & OPIE BEAUTIFUL RIDE MAN YOU SUCH COOL VIDEOS BE BLESSED STAY SAFE MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU & YOUR FAMILY 🎄🎄🐾🐾🐾🐾❤️🐾🐾🐾🐾🙏🇺🇸
50 is a beautiful road all the way across Indiana!
Kurt I drove that route last week from Dale In to Kokomo then back 3 days later it will be great when 69 is finished
Excellent
Flour tortillas, peanut butter and a bag of chocolate chips. Put peanut butter on the tortilla, sprinkle chocolate chips on top and wrap it up like a burrito. It is one tasty snack, and not really that bad for you, just the chocolate. It tastes like a Reeses peanut butter burrito.
Southwestern Indiana is nice area, 69 a nice road, enjoy!
Yup, I've punched out a few fuel pumps, those days are behind me due to an ocular stroke last year that took me off the road, 22yrs of OTR refrigerated trucking for this old Fart, 21 of it with the same company out of Fargo.
Stay safe out there.
Skippy!! Yes! Best stuff!
Neat deal for your dog to get in the truck. That's cool
Every-time I see that long nose KW I think back to the days my dad was trucking. Love the old style tractors even though they may not be as fuel efficient. And it’s not a steering wheel holder automatic
Awesome Video Happy New year God bless
A friend in my NWTF chapter was over there and asleep in his truck when the tornado came through. His truck was flipped over, and he is now paralyzed.
I watched them build that bridge you crossed into St. Louis from the power plant I worked at just south of the bridge.
Just randomly saw this video..... I drive as well..... was cool to see someone on here driving in my area..... I recognized lagootee indiana immediately lol
Lol kurt, roughing up the junk gas pump 💯👍keep on trucking brother
Your funny Kurt sir. the way you fixed your saying the wrong town was cutely funny
At 21:13ish When you said you were going to leave us right here. I was waiting for. In Concordia Missouri. 😂😂
Chicken. Boiled, along with instant Rice.
1 1/2 cup rice, 2/3cup boneless Chicken
Per. Serving . You get it Opie! Makes Opie a happy camper, and healthy.......
I use to cross dock for GI Trucking out in Oakland CA. And for Econoline Express in Freemount CA. And yard jockey for them as well..Happy Holidays to you and yours!!!
Opie is a beautiful well behaved dog.
Tuna is great..for you and the dog..
Fish helps you truck without sleepiness
Being a former trucker myself that doesn’t even make me happy to hear. My late Richard can shift so smoothly like you also. He could make a semi sing purrrrrrr one with the truck like I am with horses 🐎🐎
Kurt ❤️ that old 🐕. I love seeing Opie with a heavy winter coat on. The other day when Opie and Jax were howling was music to my tired old ears.
Kurt, best wishes this holiday season. Yall stay safe. God bless and good night.
So way back in 2010 I pulled flatbed for a cousin here in Indiana! We hauled prefab buildings. Called the contractor yeah you can park on site. Just happen to be in Huntingburg Indiana at a turkey plant. Thank you for a good AC unit. That place was RIPE! Miss the good OLD days of Trucking! HaHa!
I literally watched all of your video so I could see that dog ladder again! Anybody that worries about the well-being of their traveling companion deserves my attention I hate when I'm out of truck stop and I see these assholes making their old heavy dog jump out of the truck and on to the ground or making them jump up Frozen steps when they clearly can't do it really grinds my gears so thank you sir and where can I get one of those ladders LOL!
If you cared about the dog so much it wouldn't be stuck in a truck..
I lift my pitbull out of the truck. One hand on her collar and the other arm under her stomach. I help her back into the truck.
@@mikekennedy5470 You probably tie them to a doghouse outside all day
My dog jumps in and out regularly with no issues, however, something you should keep in mind, there are many dogs that don't like being picked up and/or don't like stairs. Mine for example is a rescue from a dog ring. I've had him going on 6 years, he hates stairs, and I tried once to pick him up...we'll just say that it required an ER visit and some stitches. Sweetest dog you'd ever meet, just don't pick him up. If, and when, he ever gets to a point that getting in and out of the truck becomes a struggle, I'll do what I did with my husky, he'll retire to home life, and I'll find a new road companion. Jumping isn't a negative, it's a good exercise for them. All that is needed is regular veterinary care which should already exist. Another aspect to consider is how the dog acts. Opie is happy, he's not stressed, that truck is his home; the same is true of my dog.
Just for reference, an average German shepherd is fully capable of a 8' vertical jump naturally providing they have a running start. With training, they can jet up to a 12' vertical. My boxer/pit/mastiff mix has cleared a 10' wall with ease, but, I also run him regularly. Exercise is critical to a point, but, when you're discussing a senior pet, they like to just relax.
