My wife has epilepsy and had a seizure earlier so we sat on the couch and started watching your channel. I knew she was fully awake when she was looking at the tv and said, “Opie”. Hope you guys have a Merry Christmas And Opie,Jax, and mom and Uber dad.
That was your guardian angel whispering in your ear that you needed to check the reefer ! Learn to listen to your gut. It’s not an accident and it’s not coincidence.
Except the extra money for taking the trailer back to be repaired! You have sat and waited for loads that were not ready and that were supposed to be ready at promised time. Your time is worth money also and you should be compensated for it. You are a good man and you deserve everything you earn. I'm sure you have done favors for this broker / shipper in the past.
Been there, done that l hate to say its going to get worst. Stay safe merry Christmas to you and the Warden, Uber dad and future Nascar driver mom. And the kids and the Germans.
Of course, the one time you don't check is when things go wrong. There are several words for that. Murphy coming up with his law must have gotten him executed. You were definitely tired and in fine dork mode. 🤣I do hope you have some time off for Christmas. Thanks for the ride. God bless.
Kurt it’s called going tactical, when you turn on the red light, or turning on your night vision. You can see a white light a lot further then red light carries. Enjoy the day, thanks for another great video.
You're not the only one to forget things Kurt. Even after 40 years of driving I would forget things, and I always had a very consistent routine. My routine was always extremely diligent the last 8 years I drove because I was hauling 12,000 gallons of gas, and there is no room for mistakes. That said, one night I was delivering gas at a service station and I put all of my hoses and fittings up, or so I thought, and started to leave. It was about 3a.m, it was snowing and I was dog tired, and as soon as I started pulling away, I heard a noise. I had left a short hose hooked up to the in ground tank.
My previous truck had the jumpstart posts mounted by the air lines. That was nice for jumpstarting the occasional recalcitrant reefer unit. The current truck has the factory posts on the frame behind the left steer tire. I had to buy another set of cables to reach. But it still beats removing battery box covers.
Great job on getting the trailer reported and taking the time to make sure it was going to get fixed. That was one of the things that turned me off was when I had to give up a load to go pick up a trailer. Got smart and started putting my kingpin lock on and taking the broken trailer to the dealer, and then go back and continue my original load. Pissed off dispatch quite a few times and when senior management found out about my tactics, they came unglued. I found a position with a local company and left them high and dry on a hotshot load they needed moved ASAP. Best move I ever made - even worked out improving my bank account substantially. At least your company offered to make it up to you, which is a great sign that they care about you and value your work. After the company I drove for went belly up in '09, I called it quits in the driving world. Do I miss it? yes - and no.
Another fun video lots to learn. They call the people loading the trailer's lumpers. Looks like you were having fun loading the clip. God-bless and Safe Travels
Don’t beat yourself up over not checking the battery, it comes with the territory, I.e. winter. Put it behind you and have a merry Christmas with your wonderful family.
I drive for that company that has the trls with the blue and red stripe down the side of the trl and the blue and red rectangle that is in some of your videos recently at that Topeka plant. Been there done that. Just spent 23.5 hrs over the last 2 days (Sun and Mon) at 2 separate Carrier shops trying to get the unit on my trl to function (turn on). Fun fun. That's truckin, right?
$2.68 for a Cheeseburger. Uber Dad and I can remember when McDonald's Cheeseburger was .25 cents and a hamburger was .20 cents. We are Old. Also you should keep a jar handy a put a dollar in it when you say " it is what it is" and give it to your Wife when it's full. Stay safe and Merry Christmas to you and your family.
We have all forgotten things. In the grand scheme of things, my uncle used to say that worse things have happened at sea. He was an expert on what could go wrong at sea because he was a Coast Guard veteran.
That makes no sense to have to pay $$$$$$$$ to load or unload period. But,, that's TRUCKIN!!!!!!! Everyone wants to take 💰💰💰💰💰💰💰 from the TRUCKERS!!!!!!! 😬🙄🤯😫😤😡
Exactly 💯.. it's like Extortion. I don't understand why places order truck loads of freight and then they don't want to unload what they ordered well I didn't order it and no other truckee ordered it, we just pick it up and bring it to them. ✌️& 18
The head lamp is very cool. Unfortunately Opie won't be able to appreciate the ultimate coolness of the red light. Dogs are color blind and can't see red or green. They see the world in brown, yellow, and gray. I'm sure he thinks you're cool anyway.
O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸 So it definitely was the battery? I had to rewind a bit to verify, but I still wasn’t quite sure. It ran after you jumped the battery, but I guess it eventually shut down, huh? Those are things I’ve never heard before. Cool to know. That’s how it is, we do our walk around & listening to as we go around, but we miss things once in a while. Just don’t make a habit of it. LOL! As long as you have a safe trip, that’s what matters the most. Enjoy the next leg of your journey! Blessings my friend. 🥰🤩✌️
Great video Kurt ! I'm jealous I would take first class any day! Love the old W9 and Pete 379/389 but the prices for anything decent is damn near what decent newer truck costs.
Kurt sir you probally know that its not safe to drive tired...edpecially to drive acsemi tired.we followers of your channel thought you put off washing first class...untill after you rested🙂
No matter where I delivered, NYC, Boston, N.J. or D. C. lumpers got paid. The not so interesting but necessary part of recording the fee was to provide a 'make pretend' Sociable Security for the company. I'm almost certain most of the lumpers didn't have those numbers hence making up a number. Thanks for the ride and the views. Be well.
" It is what it is " ... For some odd reason I picked up that phrase and started using it. Every time I would say it to my wife she wanted to smack me.

Was it that fancy lumper fee? Lol My last lumper fee was $280 at a Kroger distribution in Virginia. As far as winter. I'm ready for summer to come back now. My beagle likes to eat stuff off the ground also. She's a food opportunist. I keep telling her, "Those are NOT gummy worms you see brother eat sometimes." Apparently, worms are tasty. 🤢 My Jack Russell is very picky. She wants veggies, and everything you give her has to be in iddy biddy pieces. You rock that red light district! 😂 Good video, as always! Stay safe!
When you start talking like Fred Flintstone, singing Christmas songs and telling your truck to climb, you need sleeper time.
Love how Opie is peeking into the camera.

Good investment is a jump box that you can plug in the truck somewhere or a green apu
