Greetings Mr Schmidt! I just found your channel yesterday 6/21/24 and I feel there’s a reason for things happening in our lives and your RUclips channel was one of them!…I’ve been binge watching nothing but YOUR videos since finding your channel, and, needless to say I have proudly subscribed! You have a beautiful family, a gorgeous truck (and, yes, I agree paying $40k + for a truck is insanity!). Retiring in 2015, and after nine long years of climbing the walls to get back out onto the open road again, I will be doing so soon…only it’ll be in a 2024 GMC SIERRA 2500 4WD DURAMAX 6.6 LITRE DIESEL ENGINE AT4 XAEV CREW CAB sporting a NORTHSTAR 850SC truck camper on the back and definitely not in a big truck! I’m very anxious to explore the back roads that I rarely got to see before, all I missed due to tight schedules, interstate jungle traveling, etc, and, even visiting places again I enjoyed while I ‘was’ trucking. Your fur babies are a joy to see in your videos and also the love you and your family give to them! I could go on and on but I’ll stop rambling for now and get back to watching this video! When I was a warehouseman from 1989-1995 at Americold in San Francisco, always treated all the truckers with respect, enjoyed chatting it up with folks from all over the country and Canada.
I worked 20 years in a company that had the most rude persons in shipping. I sometimes had to get on to them, some of the best people I've met were truckers.

Hi i did a faver for my local meat works many years ago . I was told a had to check in at the supermarket chain between 7 and 9 am . I got there at 9.05 am they said I'd have to wait untill the afternoon shift. I had a load booked to go back but was not going to make it till the next day. I drove the load back to where it came from parked it up unhooked . Went to my trailer and did my normal flat bed loads . I they rang me and the abused I got man I've been called some names before but this was on a hole new level. Needless to say I have was asked to help again
Hey i'm from Boone Iowa just north of Fort Dodge, been watching you for a while love your videos! I'm retired 35 over the road then taught truck driving at DMACC in Ankeny until i retired! Really enjoy watching i get to see a lot of places i been to over the years, be safe brother!
Nice tight turns ! I really like the fifth wheel cam . It’s a cool angle 📐. Every once in a while you’ll find that rude person . It’s hard not to want to lash back , usually I’ll just pray for them . Usually I said . Keep up the videos .
My dad and mom owned a trucking company when I was a kid. Took all overflow loads from Kern's Food. 79'-84' or around there. My dad originally was trucking out of Idaho. His CB handle was The Idaho Potato, Spud for short.. My mom was Tater tot. Hearing you say it brought me great and many memories
I like when you put the city and state you're in.. I always pause the video and do a Google map search so I can follow along.. I grew up on the border of Iowa and Illinois and I've never even heard of Hinton Iowa before.
Hey just wanted to say hello. I enjoy watching your videos what I see is a man who’s got it going on. You are a very smart and knows what’s important in life and working for a living. You are a positive person who is trucking for America. I did it for twenty years and love it.Got out to stay with my children and family more but from what I see you make me proud for what you do and keep the value of being a good person in trucking keep on trucking for you your family and us way to go Man ..
WoW, such anger! You made a very good point, when someone treats you like garbage just being EXTRA nice and courteous really puts them in their place. I’ll say it again you have more patience than I have. Enjoy your weekend and family.
Hey dude, really enjoying your vids. Kinda vicariously driving with ya! I still drive for an oil distributor out of central NC and I’ve been here going on 18 years. I spent many years in a 98 W9 like that with a 650 Cat with the pipes and all the goodies and a sunroof to boot to really hear those pipes sing! I’ve logged over 4,000,000 miles in my career since ‘93. Anyway, God bless my friend and stay safe out there!
Thats Trucking Driver..... Deal with Asshole Shippers Receivers and Asshole Steering Wheel Holders Blocking Fuel Islands Four Wheelers TRAFFIC you name it We Deal with it....Its Truckin a Love Hate Relationship.
Thats prety much all we had back in the good old days was spring ride truck and spring ride trailer. You guys have great rides now. Thanks for the video, stay safe.
My trucking days were before CDL, I was 25 when I trained with a Chauffeur license. I could drive or ride anything anywhere. I used a standard logbook by the timeline on/off duty method. An experience I will never forget...
I enjoyed the comment about leaving the door open when leaving. I have felt like doing that a few times. Kraft at York, pa. Is that kind of place. There is a alcohol beverage place in Maryland and a hardware distributor in Virginia and Nestle water over by Allen Tower, Pa and a Graphics place at Stone mountain Ga. All of these places qualify as a leave the door open place. I usually pull my own trailers but I pulled a couple of pre loaded xtra lease trailers a few weeks ago and both of the xtra trailers were spring ride. I was surprised.
Hey Schmidt just wanted to let you know that you're videos have helped me a TON, way more than u will ever know. Since watching you I've acquired my own truck and leased it on with a o/o only company and its the best thing I've done yet, haven't got my own authority yet cause well thats a very steep hill to jump off of BUT thats my next move and basically ur 90 percent the reason I've chose this path.keep em coming and be safe out there.
I remember the first time I took a load to Laredo. There was only one "truck stop" at that time. The parking lot was dirt, and it had pot holes big enough to lose a tractor and trailer in. The little restaurant didn't serve much in the way of American food, but the food was good. About 9 pm each night you could watch two cars pull up out front to drop off the lot lizards. I'm not gonna lie, a few of them looked pretty good. That was back in 1990-1992. Looks like things have changed a lot since then.
Probably the only hospital pharmacist who regularly drove a route hauling for a metal company. Drove an overnight route then went back to my hospital job in the morning. Love your video's. Also drove for a ltl company and had a bunch of nasty people to deliver to. The nasty they were the nicer I was to them. Nice makes the world be better. Keep up the video's you are terrific. I too have a dog who loves to go for rides.
Fine piece of driving. I wouldn't try to fit my car where you squeezed that truck. I know about rude people that put the cuss in customer service. I deal with nasty people every day and all I can do is nod and smile and hope I can pop the thought bubble before my mouth engages. Sending you all the kindness vibes I can.
Hello Kurt, I’m new to your channel, I’m absolutely loving it. I’m from the U.K. and love American trucks, your Kenworth is amazing and sounds utterly incredible. Keep up the great work mate!
The place you reloaded used to be called Northern States Beef. I used to haul cattle into that plant about 12 to 13 years ago. I don't do a bullrack anymore, but I can see nothing has changed, except maybe the people who work there😄😄 we used to sit for hours to unload cattle there, & did sometimes have to go to the stockyards in Omaha, before the stockyards closed down.
Take a deep breath . Then realize you already knew you needed to do just that. Been there done that. Hope the rest of your day goes better for you and the puppy. (so cute). Thanks for the video Ginger i
I pull nothing but spring rides. It's nice to see that you have the same shakes/pogo effect I have without a stabilized camera giving the illusion of being on glass. These companies who cheap out with spring ride (glaring at you Schneider) like to try to tell you there's no difference but air ride would never have been invented and become popular, demanded by customers, and eventually standard if there wasn't.
“Kill ‘em with kindness. . . “ and “What goes around, comes around. . . “ both good things to remember when dealing with those kinds of people. Have fun ice fishing with Bud. Hubs is catching crappies. Stay safe.
Sorry to hear of the bad situation , places like that just drain you of your energy . The bad thing is this , the mood of those people at that facility breeds into all of the people that work there . It is frustrating and there is nothing one can do about it . The IH plant at the quad cities was like that , I sat there one time for twelve hours before they loaded me with " ONE" planter . The Monsanto plant in your state is bad too . Not much one can do , but as you say " be nice " and smile , it drives them crazy ! Have a nice weekend with the fam .
Nice video, really nice tractor, you used a lot of great angles when shooting your video, my favorite was when you used your driver side mirror bracket to mount your device, that was a great view, do more videos and thanks for sharing, stay safe.
LTL driver in Omaha here. Sorry you had a bad time in our town. I've been to both prince agri and JBS, I'll agree not the most fun place to go. When you get back through here, there is a new Loves on the west side of town with a dog run area.
You got the straight pipes, grab a little more rpm at the top of the gear & let it talk to ya. I had a C-15 with straights & you could get that whine at the higher rpm & a jake that rumble the ground. LOVE THE YELLOW MOTORS!!!
one of the worst experiences i had when i got stuck at u.s customs for 14 hrs, trying to get one item about the size of a toaster cleared, i had a LTL load, and i left messages on my computer and on voice mail for my dispatchers, finally when they got their shit together i got that cleared then i got pulled in to inspect part of my load, after a 45 min. wait, a customs inspector opened one box, took a quick peek and said i can go, when I got on I-75, i got pulled over by the DOT, she took one look at my log book, yes this goes back a few years, she goes " you were at customs for 14 hrs!!!" i told her what happened, she tossed my log book at me and told me to go, just a horrible trip
I sat for 2 days at a chicken plant down by north wilksboro nc waiting for a load of chicken (most of it was waiting for paperwork) ... come to find out the paperwork was put into the wrong box at the gate shack and I could have been out of there after 6 hours ...but everyone kept saying they didn’t have it and they would call me when it was ready or to come back later 🤬🤬🤬... that was just a few years ago before I got my dedicated deal for lineage hauling bob Evans potatoes. I don’t miss chicken plants 🤮🤮
I was out there on the road 20 years ago. Sometimes I really miss it . I'm local now . A bunch of pa nj. Virginia. Del. I know everyone hates east coast. I'm new to your channel and I am enjoying it. Good content. Stay safe out there
As much as a truck wash is it always upset me to see melt off on road or ramp. Part if life you have to deal with. Always prided myself with keep ing myself and truck clean. Gives you a sense of respect.
Kurt, you need to have a day like this just so you don't take the good days for granted I suppose. Thanks for sharing and stay safe you and your fantastic family as well as as the Germans 👍
just subscribed. what a great truck, love the open stacks and its my favorit looking model. Good luck to you and family from Holland europe, tx for the videos
Sorry about the rude people. We’re not all like that in Omaha. Crazy thing about that xl4star building at the 8 minute mark, back in 2007 when I was making a delivery there a cow got loose. That thing was super pissed running around charging at people. Guy came out with a shotgun and put it down right in the area you dropped your trailer. That was a wild day.
It's your equipment, your time, and lose of revenue as a result of circumstances beyond your control at this time. However, put the name of this buisness in the book and politely decline when presented with an opportunity to return in the future.
With the power of the internet, I am sure somebody from that place in Omaha saw how bad the service was there. Hopefully some changes will be made. Another great video of T.W.S and Opie!
As always you are the man. Quick story, Back in the day we had a contract to haul english muffins from Fredrick MD. to Miami fla. team operation ,anyway we did a comparison of trailers. Air ride vs, leaf. Guess what happened ,The air ride load showed up in Fla, and looked like muffins.the leaf trailer looked like mini pizzas. They paid for air ride trailers .you get what you pay for. We ran 3 tractors with an annual mileage oof 300,000 miles, One of our best contracts.
Man, Driving around in that one yard, made me think about Interstate Underground Cold storage in KC. Being all compacted and all. Except with daylight.....lol First time here ....Man, That is a beautiful tractor!!
I was raised Voice Your opinion if needed , My wife has walked out of places when She new I was getting ready to let loose , LOL . I go out of My way to be nice to people until !
Who wouldn't get in a better mode after Opie snuggles up to you and loves on you? Isn't is amazing how the German Shepherds know when you hare having a bad day and they will come love on you and try there best to cheer you up? They are very in tune with the person they bond with. I cant imagine not having a German Shephard after mine.
Hauled a load of spiral cut hams a few years ago. Loaded it in the caves in Missouri, at a place you weren’t allowed on the dock, so they loaded it , took several hours. anyway, I got down the road 75 miles or so and the brokers called and told me to go back and pick up one pallet they forgot to put on. I told the broker 500.00 and I’d go back, words were exchanged, he told me I’d never haul for them again but agreed to pay. Got to Detroit and had 2 stops on and made both , but at the last one I was 1 pallet of honey glazed spiral cut hams over.... everyone I knew had a Christmas ham that year. It’s nice when the people are pricks to you that you can get back sometimes.
Something to be said about "killing them with kindness", can be very good when they blow cause they can't make you MAD. So satisfying. Hang in there Kurt.
Got a kick out of seeing the Weiland Trucking truck. They’re out of Wautoma Wi which is near to where I grew up! I totally agree with feeling bad when the pup can’t get out. I feel bad when I can’t get my shepherd out too. But he loves tagging along
I brought a dog with me for about 13 years, I wouldn’t have stopped taking him with me for anything but I said when he died I’d never do that to a dog again ... not fair to the dog and so much easier without the dog , easier to keep clean less planning involved for the dog to go to the bathroom etc etc etc , mostly I don’t think it’s fair to the animal ... maybe a small dog especially if it’s a little older and settled down but even then I don’t think I would
I definitely know the feeling. I have been to a few of those places myself. I always remembered one thing when I was at one of them places. When things go bad don't go bad with too. This motto always helps.
Love to see the camera set behind you so we could see the dash and out the windshield. In my 40 years working for Caterpillar you drive that engine just like we always tried to teach. Sounds great and looks great. Stay safe Brother!!
The old Swift Pack in OKC had a 1 1/2 block narrow alley that was pure mud to back into. I was just a kid and dad made me go load there so he wouldn't have to back in. Good training though. Kurt you and yours havagudun.
When I saw that overpass I knew where you were. I used to deliver to International Paper a block west of that place you were, when I drove for West Side Transport out of CR.
I know drivers love air ride, but i was a trailer mechanic for 20 years, i would rather replace 5 leaf springs than 1 air bag, the easiest way is to remove the tandems, no fun at all
I can understand having a hard time replacing an airbag, but how often do you need to replace one on a trailer....probably not very often. I’ve only pulled one trailer with an airbag, so most were spring ride, and some were trailers from the 50s! I hauled furniture on a spring ride trailer once and the dining room table had cracked legs because it bounced all the way from Lima, Ohio to Pickerington, Ohio. If it had been an air ride trailer it wouldn’t have happened. It was more the way it was loaded, but I still feel the same way. 🤩
@@damonbrenwald4586 🇺🇸 I get ya! I’ve never done it and I appreciate your comment! 🤩 If anyone would know, it would be you. I’ve actually never thought about it until now. Between my brother and I, we’ve only had to replace bags on one trailer in 20 years. Good stuff! Thanks. Have a great day my friend! 🤩
Best thing to do at those places is just say yes and no and when you’re done say it was nice doing business with you BUT you’ll never see me again and don’t close the door on the way out.Been there done that it happens
USA and Canada trucking Industry needs get together and make sure that proper rules/laws are being followed and quality checks are in place for the entire trucking Industry and that everybody is treated fair and acts in professional manner. This include everybody involved. The drives, the shippers, the ppl who work in the yards and even staff ppl at desk all be polite while on the job. I swear covid has brought out the worst of humanity (at times), and cause a lot ppl lash out more so. When it should be the Opposite and brought more ppl “together” and be more polite and keep proper professionalism. I’m Not trucker driver myself, just a Canadian trucker fan, and it’s sad you had to deal with this kinda crap man. Since Covid I think the trucking Industry has gotten worst and Usa/Canada govt need unite more and make sure that everybody involved with all parts of trucking needs some MAJOR changes/tweaks to the whole industry so it may run more smoothly for everybody. Ever Since Covid, the whole wold of “trucking Industry” has “limp” on, but never really recover. Something needs be done imo, it seems be on “life support” but the rest of world kinda ignore it and continues on like nothing has happened. FACT: our world has changed. And things may Never go back to normal. Hate to say it and not trying be rude or jerk. But whole world of trucking should go on STRIKE, and show just how broken the trucking system is. Yes this prob worst thing to do atm. But the WHOLE world/The earth would “almost” come to stand still and show the world that changes need be done. I don’t know all the issue and problems with trucking industry and I don’t have simple solution. But do think truckers need to unite and bring the issue out to the public and get the world to take notice. Ya it’s been warm here in Albert Canada Calgary. Only few days ago was cold as heck. -20 c or colder at times. Maybe take 2-3 weeks off after your fishing trip. If you can afford it. Spend some more time with family and regroup.. best of luck man and I hope you have better experience soon. Stay safe and keep rubber side down :)
South Omaha is awful about narrow roads. Watching you drive through there was anxiety inducing. There are times it’s scary with a passenger vehicle. Can’t imagine driving a big rig through it. You did great!

Shippers and receivers need to be held accountable with detention pay! And they should all provide access to a bathroom. Not a port a potty.
Get the covid restrictions voided then and be on time.

Kurt lets get rich and invent an app for truckers to rate shippers and brokers!!
Crete has one on their company app. And they do dump customers who get bad ratings from the drivers.
Cargil, usually will send a Survey ,
This is a great idea. High volume places especially grocery warehouses have lots of one stars on google.
I'm in the process of working on one!!!
This would probably keep more of us DRIVERS in the industry and help keep shippers/receivers accountable

Hi Kurt, you would be the smoothest, slowest guy I have ever seen changing gears, never rushed or grinding, only wish I could be as good as you Mate
One gear at a time lol. Try not to get in a hurry
I did it for twenty years and love it.Got out to stay with my children and family more but from what I see you make me proud for what you do and keep the value of being a good person in trucking keep on trucking for you your family and us way to go Man ..
when you grow up you can be anything you want, be kind. Driving the school van by force, that is called being Volun-told.
Beat me to it.😁
Lol
WoW, such anger! You made a very good point, when someone treats you like garbage just being EXTRA nice and courteous really puts them in their place. I’ll say it again you have more patience than I have. Enjoy your weekend and family.
Retired from trucking 10
Years ago enjoyed the
Video .
Great driving, great video. Truck sounds amazing, catching gears w the Jake on. Ur timing was impressive too.
Trucking would be a great job of it weren’t for some of the people/places involved
So true, drivers are tired and then have to deal with assholes.
Thats Trucking Driver.....
Deal with Asshole Shippers Receivers and Asshole Steering Wheel Holders Blocking Fuel Islands Four Wheelers TRAFFIC you name it We Deal with it....Its Truckin a Love Hate Relationship.
I’ve been to a few of these places... I never go back. I tell my boss to blacklist them for me...
Don't forget to add Kroger to that list don't accept Kroger loads
Don't blame you one bit! Don't ever go back there! Puppies just fix things, their cute loving faces just fixes everything! Well done Sir Opie!
Thank you for you taking time to make these entertaining videos, my family appreciates it
And thank you for watching
Hey Schmidt just wanted to let you know that you're videos have helped me a TON, way more than u will ever know. Since watching you I've acquired my own truck and leased it on with a o/o only company and its the best thing I've done yet, haven't got my own authority yet cause well thats a very steep hill to jump off of BUT thats my next move and basically ur 90 percent the reason I've chose this path.keep em coming and be safe out there.
Perfect great to hear
I remember the first time I took a load to Laredo. There was only one "truck stop" at that time. The parking lot was dirt, and it had pot holes big enough to lose a tractor and trailer in. The little restaurant didn't serve much in the way of American food, but the food was good. About 9 pm each night you could watch two cars pull up out front to drop off the lot lizards. I'm not gonna lie, a few of them looked pretty good. That was back in 1990-1992. Looks like things have changed a lot since then.
That spring ride trailer turned your day right around!! Good stuff
I use to do the same thing, if the shipper or receiver was shitty with me I wouldn’t go back
“Kill ‘em with kindness. . . “ and “What goes around, comes around. . . “ both good things to remember when dealing with those kinds of people. Have fun ice fishing with Bud. Hubs is catching crappies. Stay safe.
Rig sounds so good. Love your positivity. Subscribed!
Thank you
Sorry to hear of the bad situation , places like that just drain you of your energy .
I found this place the other day, am glad I did, gr8 channel nice family. Dave
The staff usually reflects it's leadership. 👍🏼🤠
PS: nice bass sounds.
Your truck sounds like the tanker in "Duel", love it!
Love the professionalism by the way! No cuss words, Awsome!
Being the owner of 2 German Shepherds, love your dog!
one of the worst experiences i had when i got stuck at u.s customs for 14 hrs, trying to get one item about the size of a toaster cleared, i had a LTL load, and i left messages on my computer and on voice mail for my dispatchers, finally when they got their shit together i got that cleared then i got pulled in to inspect part of my load, after a 45 min. wait, a customs inspector opened one box, took a quick peek and said i can go, when I got on I-75, i got pulled over by the DOT, she took one look at my log book, yes this goes back a few years, she goes " you were at customs for 14 hrs!!!" i told her what happened, she tossed my log book at me and told me to go, just a horrible trip
Wow
I sat for 2 days at a chicken plant down by north wilksboro nc waiting for a load of chicken (most of it was waiting for paperwork) ... come to find out the paperwork was put into the wrong box at the gate shack and I could have been out of there after 6 hours ...but everyone kept saying they didn’t have it and they would call me when it was ready or to come back later 🤬🤬🤬... that was just a few years ago before I got my dedicated deal for lineage hauling bob Evans potatoes. I don’t miss chicken plants 🤮🤮
@@derekchauvinisahero2010 then they wonder we drivers quit on them
I was out there on the road 20 years ago. Sometimes I really miss it . I'm local now . A bunch of pa nj. Virginia. Del. I know everyone hates east coast. I'm new to your channel and I am enjoying it. Good content. Stay safe out there
Got sick watching this...miss this so much even the shippers and receivers. Stay safe
Dogs are Mans best Friend Indeed! I'm not in a bad mood and your Dog made me smile the way you got greeted when you got back in your truck.
Glad your home safe and sound and sane! That was a crazy video!!
I see I’m not the only one that has a clean truck then sees water and try’s to dodge it...that thing is purrin’
As much as a truck wash is it always upset me to see melt off on road or ramp. Part if life you have to deal with. Always prided myself with keep ing myself and truck clean. Gives you a sense of respect.
Great video, interesting for all of us who don’t live your experiences.
Thanks for joining up
Sorry about the rude people.
Nope definitely not. This is the one place I've had issues with in omaha.
It's your equipment, your time, and lose of revenue as a result of circumstances beyond your control at this time. However, put the name of this buisness in the book and politely decline when presented with an opportunity to return in the future.
*crosses out the word politely*
😃
With the power of the internet, I am sure somebody from that place in Omaha saw how bad the service was there. Hopefully some changes will be made. Another great video of T.W.S and Opie!
Not a good look for Omaha. That parking work you did at the unload joint was awesome. You're an impressive pro.
I know people who make it a point to go around Omaha it's so bad. Yeah I know I lived there.
Except with daylight.....lol
First time here ....Man, That is a beautiful tractor!!
Thank you and thanks for watching
I was raised Voice Your opinion if needed , My wife has walked out of places when She new I was getting ready to let loose , LOL . I go out of My way to be nice to people until !
Who wouldn't get in a better mode after Opie snuggles up to you and loves on you? Isn't is amazing how the German Shepherds know when you hare having a bad day and they will come love on you and try there best to cheer you up? They are very in tune with the person they bond with. I cant imagine not having a German Shephard after mine.
I work for a nationally known broker. I enjoy your videos. I have a lot of flatbed freight in the Lincoln NE area.
Nice Kenworth. When I was with Swift, I had an automatic Freightliner.
Your lucky you have Opie around. Makes every much more tolerable. Enjoy your weekend.
All respect to you and all you do
GOD Bless all truckers
I used to be one
Keep up the good work
Something to be said about "killing them with kindness", can be very good when they blow cause they can't make you MAD. So satisfying. Hang in there Kurt.
I have a machete with the word KINDNESS etched in big letters down the length of the blade.
Thank you
Amazing as always thanks God bless you
That sound never gets old. I just adore the sound of a big diesel engine. I could become a trucker just for that
we had 2 weeks of nonstop -20 to -33 below then warmed up to 11 above last saturday neighbors were having garage sales snowmobiling & horseback riding
oh, it happens a lot more often than you would think, my co had 4000 trailers, at least 1 a month
Im not saying the air ride is not better, but they are a HUGE pain to replace
@@damonbrenwald4586 🇺🇸 I get ya! I’ve never done it and I appreciate your comment! 🤩 If anyone would know, it would be you. I’ve actually never thought about it until now. Between my brother and I, we’ve only had to replace bags on one trailer in 20 years. Good stuff! Thanks. Have a great day my friend! 🤩
@@the.porter.productions have a great day!!
Best thing to do at those places is just say yes and no and when you’re done say it was nice doing business with you BUT you’ll never see me again and don’t close the door on the way out.Been there done that it happens
Damn brother your truck sounds amazing, I am listening on surround sound and it is so awesome!
Thank you
