    I've been debating between RS5 vs S5 3.0t ultrachager stage 2 +. ..something about the RS5 i can't get over. The fender flares and V8 exhaust sound is worth it alone.

    • @RS5Fanatic
      @RS5Fanatic  3 года назад +5

      The RS5 also has a wider wheel base, different sport differential and stability control, different shift logic, etc...There are a number of chassis tuning mechanisms on the RS5 which make it superior in that department. Plus it's rare and quite a special car. The S5 3.0T will be easier to make power but will never have the panache of an RS5. You already touched on the exhaust sound. With the JHM tune it's really an incredible package with an amazing engine and transmission. The way it zings to an 8500 rpm redline is something everyone should experience. Great time to buy one now as well!

    • @RS5Fanatic
      @RS5Fanatic  5 лет назад +4

      I'm guessing, it's probably 10-15hp more than what I was making on those runs due to how hot out it was. When you dyno on a really hot day, there are protections in place that dial back the timing when the engine gets hot.. Plus the fan can't duplicate what the car will experience when on the road. I made four passes and each one gained in hp mostly because the engine was heat soaked and I was actually cooling the intake tract with each successive run. I made less hp with the AWE vs. the JHM exhaust which is what's on the car in this video. As mods are added, the larger exhaust should make an even greater difference. But I made a few hp more with the JHM on a 10 degree hotter day which is actually impressive.

    • @RS5Fanatic

      I am a big fan of the AWE exhaust. I had the AWE Track Extreme and then added their resonated downpipes to turn it into the touring (no droning!) and it's a nicely made system that sounds fantastic. The JHM will make more hp and it's also a valved system which is nice and it is quite a bit louder with the valves open (close to the AWE Track Extreme). If you're pinching pennies, I would do the tune first along with the RMR transmission cooler. Once you recover from that, look at switching out the exhaust. K&N panel filters too!

      @RS5Fanatic  6 месяцев назад

      Right but your car is RWD, less drivetrain loss and dynos can't really be compared as they're all calibrated differently. One must look at the delta change between the before and after tune on the same dyno. We've seen as high as a 64 wheel hp change with the tune depending on mods. With just a cat-back, K&N filters and the tune, this car, weighing in at 4300 pounds with me in it, runs 11.90's at 116mph on an 85 degree day with a DA of around 3000. Do the math and that's about 500 flywheel hp. Plus everybody and their third cousin has a Mustang, and having driven/owned both, the RS5 is a far, far more engaging driving experience.

    I am curious as to why it does loose so much power to the wheels ? I understand awd power loss but it should be at least 400whp if its at 500 crank right? Maybe low reading dyno? I been wanting an RS5 I wonder what a couple gallons of E85 would do?

    • @RS5Fanatic
      @RS5Fanatic  4 года назад +3

      Yeah, low reading dyne but pretty norma for an RS5l. My drag strip times/trap speed indicate I'm making close to 500 flywheel hp. Ethanol would give you a bit more but you'll need to keep it to E40, E85 will eat the injectors. If you need more, JHM has headers now, lightweight flywheel and there's a supercharger in the works.

    Is audi rs 5 not 450 hp stock?

    • @RS5Fanatic
      @RS5Fanatic  4 года назад +1

      Yes, 450hp stock.. Dynos measure hp at the wheels which includes parasitic drivetrain and frictional losses. When using a dyno, find a good one that's repeatable and maintained well with an operator who knows what they're doing. Once you have that, use the dyno as a tool for tuning/making improvements and measure the delta change between pre-modification and post-modification. Peak numbers tell you nothing and they can vary by 30hp or more depending on what dyno you're on. So ignore the peak numbers and look at the area under the curve as well as any changes to the area under the curve. Make sense?

    • @RS5Fanatic
      @RS5Fanatic  4 года назад

      @@richardstarr5539 No worries, it was just the lack of proper software and an OBD input. On the Dyno question, yes, it really has to be the same dyno and same day. Helps if it's the same make of dyno. You can take your car to three different dynos on the same day, different makes, and all will read differently. It's why I always preach they're a tool for measuring delta change on your car when a modification is made. The actual peak numbers are meaningless for the most part. But any recorded increase or decrease in hp/torque on your car, same dyno, after a mod, is really what it's there for. In that way it's a very useful tool. The dyno I go to is repeatable but since he's upgraded to the latest software, I'll basically have to start over if that makes sense. I won't be able to compare the old numbers to the new. Kind of sucks but at least I'll have a torque reading!
