@ cars like these need to be properly maintained. There’s no budget option for servicing, if you scrimp you’re storing up problems later on. My one is a 2015 and I’ve replaced all fluids, atf and mtf in rear final drive, oil in front final drive, s-tonic in gearbox oil, new spark plugs, my DRC suspension oil and got them re pressurised to 3bar. All and above routine servicing. So over my 6 years of ownership I’ve elected to do proactive maintenance before scheduled dates whether that’s the right or wrong way but if I averaged it out I’d reckon I’d spent between £500-£700 a year to keep it trouble free. Ask me if it’s worth it, without hesitation it’s a resounding yes. It is truly an Awsome car, you can play the engine like a musical instrument, the power is so linear.
@@stephenalex4345 be aware of the common issues they can have so nothing is a surprise. Off the top of my head here’s what I know, look out for timing chain tensioner failure, they are plastic and degrade with age/heat cycles. PCV valves can go but are easily replaced. Cats can degrade and like timing chain it’s an engine out job. Mechatronic units were problematic in pre-facelift models(pre 2012), but an upgraded unit was used 2013 onwards. DRC suspension will fail at some point, is expensive to replace like for like but most people opt for coil overs. Check your purchase has good brake disks and pads because discs alone are about £500 each corner. Tyres are £250 (ish) each too. Just have an emergency fund available and hopefully you won’t need it. Most importantly just enjoy it.
I have a 2015 sepang blue, only done 40,000km. People think it's new, has not dated at all. Putting it in dynamic and flooring it is the single greatest feeling ever!
I copped a 2015 a few months back. Best decision, a third of msrp, 70k miles, everything working. It’s a sleeper, timeless look and amazing engine. You don’t see any of these around. Might keep it forever 😂
Bought my 2015 RS5 Cabriolet in 2021 and love it. Because it’s NA there aren’t much in the way of mods available. Exhaust is probably the primary mod and I plan to install one from AWE in the next few weeks. Enjoy your new ride!
These have been a dream car of mine for the last few years now. I found a sepang blue one with an excellent service history for a price I couldn't refuse. The car arrived with a check engine light and timing codes. The codes cleared, it runs smooth, and drives well. I still get a warning to not exceed 6000 rpm if it's been sitting for several days. I get the feeling I'm not going to get to enjoy the car to its fullest until I save up enough to service the timing chain.
timing chain? probably the last thing it would be. start with VVT sensor or cam sensor. change oil 0W-40 or 5w-40 Audi 502 spec, check senor signal, check spark plugs, check coil packs, check motor mounts. you know the stuff that doesnt need an engine out check/repair. If timing is out thats not something to wait on and "just keep driving". seriously.
I have a B8.5 Rs5 phantom black pearl effect with the black optics and carbon trim. Awe downpipe and capristo exhaust. Sounds crazy at high revs. So fun to drive. Love the car.
Man that looks so sick - Very tempted to buy one myself but the cost of the brakes and tyres has me feeling nervous 😅 Congrats on the purchase though, such a timeless vehicle, it'll never go out of style!
I have a RS5 B8.5 in sepang blue in the UK I agree they are a stunning vehicle from any angle. I’ve added some mods to mine that suit what I wanted from this timeless beautiful car. I upgraded to KW coilovers & this really increases the ride quality. I’ve replaced the air filters with K&N & had a stage 1 tune, it now has 525bhp & 530kn of torque. These figures are a result of a having a full service & fitting titanium plugs also before the tune. I ran it with an ECS XPipe first which was a great sound but gave too much cabin drone, so I swapped it for a Scorpion full system which gives a truly great bass sound without the drone. I’d recommend this option myself 👍
Love the cuts to the video at the very beginning. There's something about a built up before we see a full shot of the car or even any car at all that you really nailed with it. As for the car itself it's gorgeous. I've always Owned the A/S5 (not been able to afford RS yet) and this car will always be the best RS5 to me for the engine and the high revvs. It just sounds phenomenal, especially with an aftermarket exhaust on. As for exhaust systems, I recommend the Capristo or Milltek exhaust system. There are videos on YT of how they sound on this car and it's ace!
Whats the maintenance like??? I recently turned 21 and moving soon. Never needed a car since i worked across the street. I really want one as my first car.
@@Kingdoperks regular annual maintenence is pretty much the same as a4 or a6. Drinks a lot more fuel though. Brake pads and tyres are expensive but they last long. Only the dsg related issues are very expensive to fix if they arise. Nothing actually matters when you let the glorious v8 sing past 5k rpm all the way to the redline.
I ve got mine 4 years ago and I will never ever sell it unless its getting totaled :D Was thinking of modifying it for a long time now, but it still has only 40k km on the clock so I'm hesitant... P.S u rly don't need a radio in this car... and it puts a smile on ur face every time u start it ;) I rly recommend this car, cuz it has this special feeling to it, like it has a soul and real identity. A perfect blend of new tech and old school mechanics, there is rly nothing else like it out there. Also I think that the value will sky rocket in the upcoming years for sure! this is the last samurai guys :D and we are not getting anything like it ever again... Btw it never broke down or anything and I drive it rly hard on daily basis, going 300km/h on the autobahn n stuff... so just get it till u can, cuz there s not a lot of them left out there!
Thanks for the suggestion! The goal is to get a capristo exhaust system but I’ve heard the resonator delete is the best bang for your buck. Def will keep it as a top option
@@ArnoldjchangI just did an ecs x pipe in place of the center res. Opens it up quite a bit, sounds pretty good but a bit raspy. I’m in the same boat as you, saving up for a capristo but the x pipe is definitely good bang for buck in meantime
have had an 8.5 s5 for a couple years now, i've got an extra hundred hp in mods and the supercharger whine is so cool, but man i've been so tempted to go for one of these as of late, really torn on making the jump or not
The steering feels weird though… I just recently picked up a built 13 S5, and love everything except the steering feel. It’s not bad at all, but feels like a gaming wheel
I would not change the exhaust. It sounds incredible. I would definitely have the transmission serviced to help the reliability going forward. Take it to an Audi dealer.
Trust me you're not missing much with the ventilated seats, mine had them and the cooling wasn't that noticeable and even worse the seat was soo uncomfortable after > 40 minutes of driving. Luckily I found some alcantara seats like yours online and swapped them out
I've got 8 cars (after selling 4 LOL) most of which are faster than this, but....I've been dreaming of grabbing one of these for months now! So gorgeous, timeless, and will hold their value now that they're fully depreciated. Similar to why I love my E39 M5. Does anyone here have this RS5 with a SC kit? I know I want this V8 RS5 over the new 2.9 crap, but I know I'll want an SC kit and 600HP to stay "satisfied" with it when my slowest car is an Audi RS Etron GT lol. Also, where's the best place to research all the potential issues ( to look for in maint history, like carbon buildup, or a sensor, etc) so I can be sure what I buy was well maintained and taken care of? Any good sites or lists of issues? Thanks, really going to get serious this week and find a low mile one and just buy it already! LOL
you didnt really mention this but 2015 is the ONLY year the 4.2 is available on these facelift models. i currently have a 2012 s5 with the 4.2 and i wish i had a facelift s5 but no v8 is a dealbreaker for me.
