- Here it is boys, the Ola Swola Riff Challenge song front to back. I wrote the beginning few riffs during Ola England's first few episodes of his riff challenges on Sunday With Ola, and now it has become a complete song in the thrash department. I couldn't come up with anything I liked to further advance the first few parts until fairly recently. i'm glad I took my time with this one and made the song carry it's weight without making it full of filler or feel that way. i'm really happy with the riffs, the pacing, structure, and now the last thing will be my vocals. Hope you guys enjoy this one, and let me know what you think in the comments below. Always a huge thank you to all of you guys for the amazing support!!!

Dude, the breakdown after the cymbal ride: Tight, chugging, sounds very much like something Power Trip might do. Outstanding man. Great solo, leads were on point, composition was fantastic. I feel like the cymbal ride would be a great crowd moment. Everyone would know what's coming, and the frontman could be like, "Let's fucking go!!!!" and the chugs start.

heard you say you were using a Scarlett 2i2, any regrets as far as round trip latency?
I actually use that for vocals and still rock my Line 6 Toneport UX1 for recording the guitars and bass tracks. It has been great to me for having next to zero latency, but the Scarlett unfortunately does with my setup. So in that case, I just have to go back in and line up the vocals manually which kinda sucks but it is what it is. Thanks for checking this out!

How tall are you man? I'm curious I'm 20. Short like 5'6 or 5'7 trying to cut and bulk up. You definitely have the ideal physique in my opinion straight ripped
rhythms and thrashier parts are tight as fuck and very on point . super accurate . only qualm was the harmonies for the solo sections which seemed a little discordant . but if that's what you were aiming for , more power to you , no judgement . love your playing . always watch your videos .

Thank you! I've been using the Neural DSP Archetype Gojira plugin exclusively to do my recordings. I do have the STL Tonality Lasse Lammert as well, but I haven't mastered that one just yet. I seem to get better results with the Gojira. As far as an interface, my old Line 6 Toneport UX1 still has not failed me and I get next to zero latency. Bass tracks I also use a plugin, the Darkglass Ultra also from Neural DSP.

Overall this is pretty fk'n sex, but a couple transitions really felt horrible. Specifically, the one at 3:34 just felt like the guitar was waiting for the bell to end. What if this happened instead... the 7th bass beat drops, and at that same time the guitar cuts out... when the time for the 8th bass beat is supposed to hit, all drum sounds die. Silence until the next beat hits, and all the shit hits at all the same time. BAM you have a facefuck of sound to finish it out. Wadda'ya think?
That's because this song isn't everything it's supposed to be yet. Once I add the vocals and what I have planned to go over this section it'll not be "horrible".
