I can't even fully express how much Warren Haynes has meant to me in my life. This song has uplifted me so many times. I was very lucky to see it performed live on many occasions with the full force of the Allman Brothers Band. This version gave me goosebumps and brought a tear to my eye. I am so happy that Playing for Change has done this. There's just something about seeing great musicians from around the world sharing the experience of a song that warms the heart and makes my soul shine.
Two days before Christmas I'm sitting here in a parking lot where I have been all night thinking about life . In the last 7 years my wife has past . Someone has burnt my house down and have lost out all have owned. And now for the past 4 yes l have lived in a tent and in my jeep when it's cold like last night . I'm almost 60 . I know it's all made me a stronger and better person . I wasn't expecting this blessing this morning but Warren made me cry with pure happiness
My Father passed away on January 29, 2024. A few days before his death, my band rehearsed this song and I couldn't finish singing the second verse. Somehow I felt that my Father's time was running out, I mean REALLY RUNNING OUT, and I burst into tears.That song, at that exact moment, felt like a 45 bullet in my chest. But I didn't feel any pain, as she was there to comfort me and not make the situation worse. Music is my companion, whether in the happiest moments or in deep pain.
Honey, I know, my daddy is passing away right now this week. I came here to listen to these good people speak on soul shine. The time is right in so many ways for this.
If I ever start to lose faith in myself, faith in humanity, or faith in the general goodness around me, I listen to this. As someone who's dealt with clinical chronic depression, this song has pulled me out of the darkest holes been in. It's part of my treatment and maintenance plan. I'm finding this Playing For Change version right now, when I really needed it. An instant emotional lift. Thank you for putting this beautiful collaboration out into the world. This is exactly the type of energy our whole world needs. For anyone who might read this who's struggling, try listening to this with your eyes close. Really internalize. If you start to tear up, don't hold it back. Let it out, let it go, and let your soul shine.

I had no clue who he was but by his conversation with others around him I thought he was a local rocker . People keep coming to him saying congratulations brother I heard you were on here. I found out he had just got started with the Allman Brothers band that year
