I can't even fully express how much Warren Haynes has meant to me in my life. This song has uplifted me so many times. I was very lucky to see it performed live on many occasions with the full force of the Allman Brothers Band. This version gave me goosebumps and brought a tear to my eye. I am so happy that Playing for Change has done this. There's just something about seeing great musicians from around the world sharing the experience of a song that warms the heart and makes my soul shine.

Two days before Christmas I'm sitting here in a parking lot where I have been all night thinking about life . In the last 7 years my wife has past . Someone has burnt my house down and have lost out all have owned. And now for the past 4 yes l have lived in a tent and in my jeep when it's cold like last night . I'm almost 60 . I know it's all made me a stronger and better person . I wasn't expecting this blessing this morning but Warren made me cry with pure happiness

As much as I love and respect Gregg and Beth, nobody does this song like Warren, the original soulshine. One of the most beautiful songs ever written.

My Father passed away on January 29, 2024.
A few days before his death, my band rehearsed this song and I couldn't finish singing the second verse. Somehow I felt that my Father's time was running out, I mean REALLY RUNNING OUT, and I burst into tears.That song, at that exact moment, felt like a 45 bullet in my chest.
But I didn't feel any pain, as she was there to comfort me and not make the situation worse.
Music is my companion, whether in the happiest moments or in deep pain.
Honey, I know, my daddy is passing away right now this week. I came here to listen to these good people speak on soul shine. The time is right in so many ways for this.
So very sorry for your loss.
Amen to that. My mother passed away on the 6th of January, and it's music like this that has got me through these long dark winter nights since

Man. When I saw Susan and Derek on When the Levee Breaks...I sincerely wished they could have been in the same room as JPJ, grooving his groove with him. And boy, was he GROOVING. I think his bassline for that was even better than the original zeppelin version. And Susan's voice with Derek's slide solo...chef's kiss. Hoping to see more.

Wow man I am just absolutely floored blown away. Don’t know what else to say. This was one hell of a song to begin with now that I’ve just seen it Warren Haynes is an amazing, guitarist, vocalist songwriter, but putting this together just put him over the top man, I’m listening to this on the verge of New Year’s Eve and man, I’m 62 years old that just gave me goosebumps I haven’t had goosebumps since I was a young man and that’s just rock my world thank you and everyone involved in this thank you. Aw wow I remember being on a plane from Dallas to Atlanta in 1989. This guy was sitting behind me . I had no clue who he was but by his conversation with others around him I thought he was a local rocker . People keep coming to him saying congratulations brother I heard you were on here. I found out he had just got started with the Allman Brothers band that year
