This is a great video and explanation! I've noticed how much more penetrating my shots are when I release or even actively release the club. Such an important part of the swing. Thank you!
Had this problem for about 3 wks,2 yrs ago.mayb 20yds between 9 and 4 irons.Eventually traced it to sciatica keeping me from fully turning thru impact.Quitting for good was an option, loosening up b4 round saved it.cheers.
I am glad you enjoyed it Kenny. I am glad your sciatica has improved and you are able to keep playing. I have a client that suffers the same thing. It is caused by poor posture (for him). As soon as he feels it it triggers a posture improvement and he is all good again. Thanks for watching. Brian

Great video,I am a golfer who only hits a 5 iron a bit further than my 7 iron. This explains why, just once in a while, I hit a career best and the ball sails 30 yards further than expected, usually through the green. It also explains the "chicken wing" I have at finish. Thanks a lot for this tip..
Thank you. I don’t know much about drumming but I am sure you would need to grip the drumsticks securely but not tight to give you the freedom to move in various ways. The golf grip is very similar. You are on the right track. Thanks for watching. Brian
Thanks Brian, excellent advise and almost as if you could read my mind as I am doing exactly as you describe at the start of your video! This literally changed my ball flight 100%. I took lessons last winter and was told to have a strong grip and now my lead wrist. Helped my slice, but all my irons went about 110-120 tops. Just went to practice were I hit to a fence that’s about 100 yards away. Took out by five iron, which I can never hit. I rolled my wrists on the way back and through with a more neutral grip. It was probably thirty yards above that fence! No idea on the distance but it was by far the longest 5 iron I’ve ever it. Total game changer! You may have saved my game! Not exaggerating.
That is such a good result Chad. I am so pleased for you. I'm glad the video has helped you regain your enjoyment of the game . Thanks for letting me know. Brian

fitzygolfpro so went over the range and realized my setup was all wrong. Swinging and shifting weight like a baseball swing. Sternum was off centred of ball and my club at impact was open. Video taped myself in slow mo to validate my mistakes. My swing for 3,5,7 is pretty much the same approach and dynamic loft is the same regardless of what iron I used. Will review the videos you got. Yes, pay a visit in the summer. Lots of outdoors stuff to do and people are friendly.
Thanks for the update Ferd. Just keep working on releasing the club through impact and you will Be fine. The distances between clubs should increase. Brian
Hi Brian, after last weeks lesson on the same idea its slowly coming together. Just need to work on the forward motion now. The half swing pitching shots with different clubs have been working great. Thanks
Thanks Anthony. Great to hear things are progressing for you.You are on the right track. Those half swing pitches formulate the basis of a good golf swing. Thanks for watching and the update. Brian
I think there is a lot of merit in this Jesse. It is something I do with people when they lose a bit of strength in their hands or to reduce the amount slice spin on the ball. I am glad you enjoyed the video. Brian

Hahaha. This was my last lesson with Brian . And im now playing a lovely draw from gap wedge to 7 iron and I've added 10m per club some more. Still having issues with my 5iron and 6iron . Due another lesson Cheers brian!
Thanks Max. That is really good to hear. It really is quite a common flaw and it is possible to improve it. You are living proof. I look forward to catching up with you soon. Brian
I'm not sure I understand your question @dry509. The club face should try to be square to the path (the direction your club travels on) that you swing the club on ideally.
would this also explain why i can only hit my driver 200 yards with slice now? completely lost my golf swing after covid and can’t get it back… i’m hoping this will help me
Hi Sean. This would go a long way to answering that problem. Your club face is staying square to your target and not the path after impact. I explain it in the following video. I use an iron in this example but the concept is the same with a driver. ruclips.net/video/G6WGrCDtUyE/видео.html Let me know how it goes. Brian
A great tip here, I am going too say for the past few months I have so been trying to change my shot from a fade to a draw, I have been getting there from changing my swing path but also I have been taking away my club on the back swing and keeping it closed, what I have noticed since the change at the range like on 20 percent of my shots are a clean contact the other 80 percent feel horrible and vibrate through the club any tips for me please, sub added :)
I don't recommend people change their shot shape as most of this is set in our DNA and our motor patterns are set. Certainly learn to hit hooks so you can escape from trouble when you need it. My advice is stick to the fade. Having given over 35,000 golf lessons I have seen only a handful of people successfully change from hitting a fade to a draw. That is not great odds. If you choose to continue on your journey in search of your draw...... Look at things like ball position, low point control in your swing and your angle of attack. The following video might help. ruclips.net/video/sqBPxO4ou1g/видео.html
OK well this kinda makes logical sense, why are there so many vids out there telling everyone not to under any circumstance open or fan the club in the takeaway ? without doing that this move would be impossible would it not ? club surely has to open some for the rotation to happen.
I am glad you enjoyed the video and it helped you in your understanding of the problem. You ask a good question about why so many people make videos on not allowing the club face to rotate (on both sides of the swing), I can;t answer that and to be honest I don't watch any other RUclips coaching videos. I just stick to my lane and do what I do every day using my 29 years of coaching experience and helping over 30000 golfers over this time. Thanks for watching. Brian
That is more common than you think Vince. I would recommend you do things like brush your teeth left handed, hold the lead in your left hand if you walk a dog. Bounce a ball left handed etc. It's not to make your left hand stronger but to get you thinking more left handed. It won't see results instantly but it will over a few weeks. Brian
The flipping he's talking about is simply allowing the club release naturally through impact. Do the old thumbs up to thumbs up exercise and you'll see and feel it.
Thanks doc! Been having trouble hitting my irons all 120
Just work on releasing a bit earlier and you should see a difference between clubs.

I am not sure why this is the case. It is one of the most common issues golf coaches face.
I am glad you enjoyed it.

Hahaha. This was my last lesson with Brian . And im now playing a lovely draw from gap wedge to 7 iron and I've added 10m per club some more.
Still having issues with my 5iron and 6iron .
Due another lesson
Cheers brian!
Thanks Max. That is really good to hear.
It really is quite a common flaw and it is possible to improve it.
You are living proof.
I look forward to catching up with you soon.
Brian
Excellent.
Thanks for watching. I am glad you enjoyed it.

@@fitzygolfpro So is the club face naturally vertical or parallel to the spine on the back swing and end of forward swing ideally?
I'm not sure I understand your question @dry509.
The club face should try to be square to the path (the direction your club travels on) that you swing the club on ideally.
@@fitzygolfpro Yes.. understood. Never mind. Got it.
would this also explain why i can only hit my driver 200 yards with slice now? completely lost my golf swing after covid and can’t get it back… i’m hoping this will help me
Hi Sean.
This would go a long way to answering that problem.
Your club face is staying square to your target and not the path after impact.
I explain it in the following video. I use an iron in this example but the concept is the same with a driver.

Let me know how it goes.

@@fitzygolfpro Thank you
Ok. I’ll try it. What the hell. What have I got to loose.
I would love to know how it goes Michael.
Please keep me posted.

For me it’s just my 6i (30*) & my 5i (27*) that are pretty much exactly the same. 5i just flies lower.
That’s about where it usually starts to bunch up.
You ask a good question about why so many people make videos on not allowing the club face to rotate (on both sides of the swing),
I can;t answer that and to be honest I don't watch any other RUclips coaching videos.
I just stick to my lane and do what I do every day using my 29 years of coaching experience and helping over 30000 golfers over this time.
Thanks for watching.

@@fitzygolfpro Thanks for your reply, so I'm not wrong in my thinking, the club has to open and close in the swing ?
You are 100% right in my opinion.
Brian
Thanks for the lesson, I think I'm a blocker.
My pleasure.
Just work on your release and you will notice a big difference.
Brian
I find it hard because I play golf left handed but I'm right handed,so I seem to back hand it because I've a stronger right hand
Brian
As soon as you explained why I almost slapped myself for being so dumb. It makes so much since now!
I am glad you found it helpful.
It is one of my most commonly asked questions from newer clients.
Brian
"unfortunately in Australia play cricket" hahhaha
It's true. I spend most of my time de cricketing golfers.
The flipping he's talking about is simply allowing the club release naturally through impact. Do the old thumbs up to thumbs up exercise and you'll see and feel it.
Or use a swingyde training aid.
Brian
My 5 iron goes further than my driver 😂
I’ve seen that many times before. It is sad.
@@fitzygolfpro in my case i find it very annoying hahah
Ill put this info to good use
I love you
Thankyou.
