About the brakes, that is why I didn't want the Ceramic brakes because of squeaking! I was told a long time ago that unless you plan on doing a lot track driving, you don't want the

My carbons barely squeak at all. Basically silent.
@@dudwtfomg That’s fortunate for you. As you can see he’s in a state where it gets cold. I think it depends on where you live and how you drive it and how often you drive it. Anyway I hope you continue to enjoy yours.
@@norrissanders4962 I don't think the brakes in this video are ceramic, he just had them painted yellow (like some other details on the car).

Unwanted attention is always going to be an occurrence with any exotic car. I had a pretty blonde follow me home once whilst I was driving my Gallardo... I made sure my wife was outside to greet me, also when you're on the street everyone wants to race you, from the guy in the civic to the guy on the bike. Agree about parking, It's really annoying at times as you'll get someone with a car that kinda looks beat up or an SUV park next to you... The best part is they are never parked properly.
Most of that comes from envy.....

My steels never squeaked on my GTS. My carbons on my GTR also barely make any noise. Average temps around my area are between 45-65f basically all year round. Interesting how experiences can differ so drastically in the same cars.
Could also be from a brake job that's wasn't properly greased.
I can fully agree...espacialy the point with the mirrors. but it makes the car not one percent worst. i love it to drive it and even love it to sit in the garage while drinking a cool beer and looking at my GTs. Loving it !!!

To get the brakes from screeching, brake harder. The pads have not been properly broken in. I drive my GTC in -15C temps and there is no sound.

I have had both scenarios, the guys who give you thumbs up or take pictures or video of the car. Nice but scary because people get so close. Then you get the others who flip you off, of course because they don’t want anyone to have something nice. I ignore them too because otherwise I would be getting in a flight every time I go out. I never park anywhere, I just drive my GTC on the weekends on nice days. 😊
I absolutely love my AMG GT convertible and I have none of this complaints,
except I lower mine 1 “ so being careful with speed bumps is part of living with lower sports cars 🤷
This is wild, i have exactly the same 5 issues with my C7 Z06 (with a ZR1 body conversion) the most annoying one to me is the unwanted attention. People driving crazy or riding side by side just to give you a thumbs up or to try and talk to you while your driving.
Mine has little warning lights (no sound) on my dash cluster but….. watch out. Parking lot parking curbs (many) will crunch your low front nose. Not like a normal car. These GT’s are safer to back into curbed spaces. THAT is my only pain in the ass about this beautiful hot rod.
The only brake issue, they are only good for 10,000 miles and they cost $1,500 just for the pads. One front rotor cost $1,700 each. The dealer cost to replace the OEM pads, is $1,500 for front and rear pads, only. Got to be most, and the non-ceramic isn't just steel rotors. They have some other blends of metal and ceramic mixed into them.
Getting one soon, so when you cut make sure to blend the audio because you have a pop every transition
Bit of copper slip on the back of the pads stops them squealing
You need to put in new high quality brake pads and use a brake part lubricant that can withstand high temperatures. Easy fix and you get rid of those squeks.
What brake pads do you have ?standard exhaust?
KW makes a custom adjustable coil over lift kit that takes care of the low height of the front bumper lip. Most useful mod I've done to my GTC Roadster
Seems like you don’t have OEM brakes, because your calipers are yellow. AMG Ceramic OEM are not that shade of yellow, they are more orange. So this could be why your brakes squeak.
Also, the car is lowered. My OEM GTC doesn’t scrape, ride height is fine.
At the end of the day, its just a toy. An expensive toy. When it starts to annoys you , park it and jump in to your second car. I hope you have one....

Gas consumption? Try a Bentley W12 Flying Spur. You can watch the gas gauge go down while you drive actually.
Carbon ceramics are notorious for squeaking, not so much to do with the size. My steel ones never makes any noise. Temperature and humidity also is a big factor.
That brake squeal is not even that bad compared to race brakes! Nonetheless, it's not the pad comp, someone didn't add anti-squeal to the back of the pads. Even a saturn sl will squeal without it. In full OEM form, they do not squeal. Curious, what city are you in? I have a GTS in Seattle and people are very nice. Side mirrors I totally agree, I missed someone at a 4 way stop the other day. Ever drive an actually small, low car like a lowered miata or lotus? No one sees you ever! In the GTS I notice people seeing me.

Depends how fussy you are. I guarantee my Supra has all of these issues, but in a less comfortable, louder, lower, more violent environment and i still drive it daily and love every second. Im looking to upgrade to one of these pending availability.

Hi...is the brake issue/noise on ceramics or regular GTS brakes? From your caliper color, seems you have ceramics.
Yes he has ceramic and whoever did the brakes job probably used cheap pads and that’s why they squeak.
These are not ceramics from AMG. These are after-market brakes

One question do you know if the GTC/GTR Pro headlights the bee looking headlights fits on a GTS?
No problem!
I’m sure the headlights fit, but the problem with that would be the software. You’ll probably spend way more on installation and calibration than whatever the headlight is worth.
I tried to do something similar on my old C43 and upgrade the headlights but they quoted me around $15,000 (yes, it’s a lot) for coding it and stuff. Not worth it at all
@@Amgenetics I live in the Netherlands and i asked a garage its costing 150,- +- for the coding but i have to get he headlights myself which are around 2-3k maybe.
@@Amgenetics and don’t get scammed 15k is a lot they probably use the tricks since they know its an expensive car and they use that money to buy different things for their garage.
I read to end the squeaking just ride hard, and do a hard break, this will warm up the breaks quickly, and stop the squeaking when you’re doing normal drives
Try taking off the brake pads & putting copper grease behind them

Hey Thanks. My neighbor has an AMG GT and I saw one today and thought about maybe acquiring one. It was a toss up between the AMG GT and the 911 Targa. Your 6 annoyances made me realize it's not the car for me. Thank you.

Don't you notice these things before you buy the car? They don't seem hard to notice besides the brakes
I really want one, but im coming from a Supra, so its basically the same in everything except fuel consumption.
You may have a buildup of brake dust in the rotors, sounds simple I know, but a weekly wash of your wheels might solve the problem. Steel rotors
(vented) on many 2011 Corvette Grand Sports are also annoyed by this and, sadly, there's nothing you can do accept keep good wheel maintenance.
You must be new to sport cars, because the public will stare relentlessly while trying to get your attention; it never stops - get used to it! 🥹

All of these "points" miss one MAJOR caveat -- they ONLY apply to driving in ugly cities with ugly roads!

Not sure if the title is just misleading, but I can’t imagine fuel economy and attention actually being a surprise. Twin turbo V8 “supercar” and you’re surprised it doesn’t get 40 mpg and people look at it? Gas mileage on these are quite a bit better than the prior M156 6.2 V8s. Actually quite impressed with the mpg on my 4.0TT SQ7 vs my 6.2 C63.
The brake screech problem can easily be resolved by spraying a sulubrious amount off WD40. 👍

Hey yo nice video, I nearly bought one of those, it was sooo tempting, on a cold start they sound like exploding dynamite mixed with thunder, when I went to test drive a couple it was exciting, but I always wanted a 997GTS so I waited years to find the right one and when got it, I was so stoked, absolutely no regrets. So I totally get all your points its unfortunate, I get tailgaters all the time, everyone wants to race you in lame ar*e cars, people take pictures and are just creepy lol comments when you park a mile away from the shops yeh its mostly men too which is annoying hah. Scraping speed bumps everywhere....sounds like we have the same gripes maybe I should do a video too lol. I dont know about you but Im not super rich in fact im not rich at all I just work hard and found myself at a point when I can afford it so I went for it. My point is, everyone has their own dream cars (well, guys I know mostly do) and when we finally get one we're just happy and dont expect weirdo's to drool over your toy but they will, youll get the nutcase drivers that want to see a rare beast so they want to see who's driving it so they can thumbs up you or give you the look of hate coz their in an average car everyone else has when in fact if they really wanted one they could have one too but I find people make excuses and talk themselves out of it from fear or something else as lame. Enjoy your toy and all the bs and nice things that come with it😉

I don’t get the point. That is a RACE car not intended to be use as commuter daily car. That is why break sound, gas consumption is ridiculous, very low, poor mirror position etc. Etc.
Take your car to a race track and enjoy it and get a Honda for going to the grocery store

he messed with it. My glc63 never makes that noise. Mercedes has an anti-squeal paste for that. As for your mileage, your car is running at a higher rate than in comfort.

I drove a G82 and can confidently say it has nowhere near the amount of excitement as the GTS (at least for me). Still a great car though

Get ceramic rotors and pads. For the rest... I think you should just sell it and buy a 1982 190E. Then you wouldn't get any attention. It would solve all of the other issues you're complaining about as well. =) The gas, the attention, the noise. A total WIN WIN I would say.
