🇸🇾 Street Food in Damascus: • First Time in Syria!! ...
► Contact Rami from Syrian Guides: syrianguides.com/
DAMASCUS, SYRIA - Welcome to the ancient city of Damascus, and today we’re going on a food tour to walk around the souq, then we’ll eat a legendary ice cream - probably one of the craziest ice cream shops in the world, and then we’ll eat a huge homestyle Syrian meal!
Beit al-Mamlouka Hotel (maps.app.goo.gl/GH73rgDoEG6mx...) - To begin this Syrian food tour in Damascus, we’re starting with breakfast at our boutique hotel. Syrian breakfast is fantastic!
Abu Shaker (maps.app.goo.gl/6tyhBa6U9d5QJ...) - Abu Shaker is legendary in Damascus for serving huge smoothies and milkshakes. Price - 30,000 SYP ($2)
Al-Hamidiyeh Souq - To continue this Syrian food tour in Damascus, we walked through Al-Hamidiyeh Souq, a market full of action where people come to buy just about everything.
Bakdash Ice Cream (maps.app.goo.gl/6UXv8nHKfCXJg...) - This ice cream shop is without a doubt the most famous ice cream in Damascus and it’s even famous throughout the Middle East. They make a special type of ice cream that’s pounded in a freezer cylinder and topped with crushed pistachios.
Naranj Restaurant (maps.app.goo.gl/GfK2U38Bn1g1F...) - After some Syrian street food in the morning, we continued to Naranj Restaurant that serves some of the best homestyle Syrian food in Damascus. They prepared a massive mezze spread along with some of their signature dishes including kibbeh nayyeh, and lamb with bulgur.
Al Nawfara Café (maps.app.goo.gl/4ogfED1qaC6ed...) - Located on the edge of Umayyad Mosque is Al Nawfara Café, a 400 year old cafe where you can go to still listen to a storyteller!

Do you know that Syria in the early twentieth century and under the ottoman empire had the third of it's population as Christians😮 , and after European christian colonization carried out by french in Syria and in Lebanon and Britain in Palestine, which decomposed the ottoman empire, now christians in Syria reduced from 33% of population to just 5%
and in Lebanon from 66% as a majority to 33%
and Palestine from 10 % before Israeli occupation 1948 to less than 2% of the population.
Do you know before American occupation of Iraq 2003 the christians were 4 times their number now😮?
Christians were 25% of all Arab region population in the early 20th century and under the ottoman empire, now christians are just 5% of the Arab region population 😮.
That proves strongly the christians lived much better under Islam empires for 1300 years , and their matters deteriorated only after European christian colonization and american infringement in the region 😮

We all know these mosque continuing 1300 years ago. But there's no clear signs that there was thing like church or anything else.
It was some west historians who written that these, those etc designs are church design.
But reality is you can watch those architecture in even new mosques that clearly.

I made this comment in your first video but it's worth it to make it again. What makes Syrian food so special isn't just the talent of the chefs, the ancient recipes, the unique flavours and combinations, but also the fact that Syrian food is all from Syria. All the meat, fruit, and vegetables are local, they are not imported from Iraq, Turkey, or Europe, or wherever. This means the ingredients are super fresh, non-GMO, organic, and everything you eat came only an hours drive away at most. That's why Syrian food is the best!

Syrian cuisine may the best and most underrated food in the world. So much variety in its ingredients. Some of my favorite dishes: pumpkin cooked in a lamb tomato stock seasoned with dried mint. Wrapped grape leaves with whole cloves of garlic served with a ground lamb and tomato sauce. Lamb dumplings in a yogurt sauce served with fried cilantro, tomato, and garlic garnish. That’s not even getting into the incredible variety of desserts.

Now that I am 52 years old, I still take my wife and children to show them my house where I was born, but the last time we did not find it because the war destroyed it.

That proves strongly the christians lived much better under Islam empires for 1300 years , and their matters deteriorated only after European christian colonization and american infringement in the region 😮😢
