Burned my lawn down and re-seeded with Barenbrug's RTF 14 days ago. At day 7 I had baby grass and now a week later it is looking even better. Barenbrug is the real deal, it's great stuff!!! Question: where I have washout from these Utah storms should I re-seed those spots, or wait until the fall to fix them?
Great stuff! I lost the nail on my big toe from 12 hours of dethatching my 80,000 sq ft yard last year. I did three passes at differing angles and used my pull behind lawn sweeper after the first and second runs. One benefit was leveling of some heaving over winter. Cannot believe how much color came almost instantly that day as my lawn seemed to take a large gasp for air as if it had been holding its breath. 😊 I give all this background info to ask what the name of the fossil fuel powered dethatcher was so I can start doing my research as to how it compares to the flail blade unit I was using last year. I could get lost dethatching every six weeks as well! 👊
probably not. the only thing that may change is the application rate. I highly recommend staying 3 to 6 feet out from trees and never spray a feeder root that has surfaced.
I am excited to see this. Our lawn is mostly dead and weeds. We're in Southeastern Idaho and it is a lot of desert up here. We don't have hardly any rain for 3 months every summer (it's less than an inch over 3 months combined...and we don't have a sprinkler system...). What if we have a ton of weeds? Should we treat all the weeds first? Should we just till the lawn and start from dirt? My husband subscribed to your channel but I want to figure this out. We've been in the house for 3 years and we need to start over with the lawn!
I have a playlist about this project and a link to the first video at the beginning of this video in the upper right hand corner. I used a product called eraze and I show you how to use it in the first video.
What came out better? You said this is from October last year? Im doing a full reno this fall and was going to put rpr, do you still recommend it with this new information?
I'm confused by the glyphosate and Tenacity mixing. Typically I've left the lawn tall, apply glyphosate, and then mow and bag and reapply after a week as i drop the height each time, and repeat up to five times if I see any green. At seed down, i dethatch and bag and do a final claanup mow. Apply seed with a slit seeder and starter. Then Tenacity without NIS at seed down and then a month later without NIS, and again a month later without NIS.
Here my thought process. Keeping in mind I’ve had the pleasure of speaking about this directly with the manufacturers. The point of two tenacity treatments and one at the beginning of the process is to use tenacity as a pre emergent and receive higher efficacy of the product. Since tenacity wasn’t formulated for long periods of time it’s necessary to do two treatments back to back. Without the lawn mowed short the glyphosate labels also recommend a higher dose. The glyphosate does not kill weed seeds or have any pre emergent properties. Glyphosate travels through the plant in about 72 hours. Pretty fast. The goal is to get the tenacity at highest efficacy for the seed process and on the soil. Which is why I did it this way. Manufacturer recommends to wait about 4 weeks post germination to use tenacity. I’ve had few instances where I’ve had to do this after a seeding when I follow my regime in this video. There’s several ways one can seed. This one works well for me. Hope that helps clarify. Have a great day
@@teammadcow the goal is to kill the grass with the glyphosate and start the first app of pre emergent so when the seed goes down two weeks later I can do my second app with a higher efficacy of pre emergent.
I bought a bag of Barenbrug RTF from Amazon and the bag looks beat up and the date on it is 09/16. Should I return it since it's old or you think it'll still germinate?
if this is from Oct, why we seeing this now?? the RPR looked awesome, i was definitely thinking of putting it for my front yard, but i had already had bought seed last year from Natures Seed. I put it down a month ago, trying to fill in bare spots, but overall looking very good. its not as dark as i would like, but it looks good. I know they say shouldnt do a renovation in Spring, but i not want to wait and have a front lawn with different types of grass and weeds until late August/early September.
I wanted to show the entire process and over the course of a couple of months. so instead of making everyone wait over the winter I did it this way. rye is a lot of fun. soaks in fertilizer and iron like a boss. if you want it darker hit it with a shot of iron.
I just finished my first round of Torocity, which supposed to be like Tenacity. Everyone says that weeds are supposed to turn white but not seeing that result. To make matters worse,we have moles in our yard. Any suggestions what to do next, thanks!
I would check your calibration and make sure it all went down correctly. Even better you have a round two coming up. I commonly don’t water for 12 hours after application
@@pestandlawnginja Yeah I'm using the Hart 20v backpack sprayer. The mixture was 1- teaspoon of the Torocity 4- teaspoon of the surfactant Mixed it up and sprayed the yard. I will try a second application.
I've been using the Ryobi backpack sprayer for 2 years and finally have figured out it's calibration - looks pretty similar to the Hart sprayer. A really slow walking speed, like half steps, is needed. The lower cost sprayers have slower pumps, so slow walking speed is needed. Also, make your own 1 gallon marker lines on the tank with a measuring cup and water. Manufacturer line markers are usually not correct, and my Ryobi was totally off unless it was filled to 4 gallons.
As for me spraying it. The majority of the concern is through inhalation and repeatedly getting soaked in it. Which I did neither due to the clothing, eye protection, rubber gloves and type of nozzle I chose to use 😀
