    Kill Crabgrass, Dallisgrass, Clover in 5 Easy Steps. Kill Bindweed, Morning Glory and more.
    Today we go over the Pest and Lawn Ginja's 5 Steps to killing crabgrass and other annual grass weeds.
    Step 1. Identify your grass type
    Step 2. Identify the weed
    Step 3. Pick the right herbicide for your grass type
    Step 4. Proper Handling and Mixing of the herbicide
    Step 5. How to properly apply the herbicide
    If you're looking for a good weed killer for grass or your lawn I have listed weed killer that will kill the weeds and not your grass.
    Kill Crabgrass, Dallisgrass, Clover in 5 Easy Steps. Oxalis, morning glory and Crabgrass Killer.
    Follow my 5 steps and you'll be well on your way to successfully killing crabgrass. Kill Crabgrass and Weeds in 5 Easy Steps. How to kill crabgrass in Bermuda, st. augustine, Kentucky Bluegrass and others.
    Kill Crabgrass, Dallisgrass, Clover in 5 Easy Steps. Oxalis, morning glory and Crabgrass Killer.
    The three herbicides we discuss today are Tenacity / Meso 4sc, Quinclorac 1.5L / Drive xlr8, and celcius wg. Each one of these herbicides targets crabgrass and other annual grass. They each have there pro's and cons. It's important to know that you can't spray all herbicides equally to all different species of grass. Some species are susceptible to the herbicides and you run the risk of killing your lawn.
    If you want to spot spray weeds like a pro and kill crabgrass and not your lawn watch and follow my 5 easy steps to killing crabgrass and other weeds in your lawn.

      It’s August 29th. I live in the Northeast should I try and kill my crabgrass now and overseed in October and then use as pre-emergents in mid-late march and over seed again in late may?

      From what I have watched from Ginja and others, and heard on radio:
      If you are in the "cool states", crabgrass is an annual and if you keep it from seeding , and neighbors seeds from blowing in, I would just let it die over the Winter and be sure to Pre-emerge the following Spring.
      If your in the "warm states", you are in OzzyMan "Destination F**k*d!"

    I am so thankful for all the Ginja videos posted out here, especially this one. I used a combination of Tenacity and Speedzone, along with some Hi-Yield Super Sticker just like in the video. Used it on my northern lawn (fescue and rye grass). Did wonders for clover, Oxalis, and dandelion. I am a newbie, and will share some additional tips:
    I would highly recommend some kind of marker dye to ensure you can keep track of where you are going and where you've been. Wear old pants/shoes if you use marker dye! Your pants/shoes will likely get the dye on them. Wash those pants separately in a laundry sink or even your bathtub or bathroom sink to get as much dye out as possible, ... then you can toss them in your regular laundry without dye transfer to your other clothes.
    Be patient and wait for a day that's not windy when you won't have rain for at least a few hours after applying. Even a slight breeze will ruin your coverage - I tried it with a slight breeze and gave up after only a few seconds. I don't think I've ever paid so much attention to the wind in the weather forecast! :) But I finally found the perfect morning for spraying with no wind, no dew on the leaves, and no rain that day.
    Lastly, it's really important to watch other Ginja videos, ... especially when it comes to learning about the difference between bunching tall fescue and crabgrass (are you frustrated with trying to kill your "crabgrass?", ... learn why!).
    The great thing is I have enough leftover product for next year - and they will keep for a year or two shelf life easily. And it's all done at a fraction of the cost of a lawn service!
    Thank you for the great videos Lawn Ginja!

    Hey Ginja, very informative video. What do you recommend for a yard that is about 2 acres in Size? recently purchased a new place in north virginia that has all sorts of crabgrass, clover, and all sorts of stuff. (working on getting to a kentucky bluegrass) Because of the size I'm thinking big box store granular versus a 2 gallon sprayer. I have a pull behind spreader already. Second question, how can I increase success of overseeding such a large area with zero automated sprinkler system? Good work and will buy through your links.

    • @PestandLawnGinja
      @PestandLawnGinja  4 года назад +2

      great questions. the granular is commonly more expensive. There are some awesome boom sprayers that attach to four wheelers that would allow you to spray instead of granulate. however you can find some mesotrione granular searching on the web and it will do a good job on the crabgrass and annual grasses.

    Great content. Not to many guys will talk about using multiple herbicides at the same time. They just talk about individual ones not which ones to combine. What about mixing your non ionic surfactant and seed oil together. Does that make it “hot” as some guys like to say. Thanks and keep it up

      Great question. The truth is I've only theorized about this and haven't done any testing. I've read articles like this one that claim there's no issue. Check his #2 section. techlinenews.com/herbicides/adjuvants2014
      I use a product called duo stick when we mix for our large tanks and it's an incredible product. but its an mso mixed with a organosilicone based surfactant. It breaks humates down faster than anything else I've tried. In about 30 to 45 seconds it'll break the 90% humic acid down into a slurry which is important to get it to mix with water.

    This was the most detailed explanation of Herbicide lawn care. The one thing I found the most helpful to me is that one gallon of water will cover 1000 sqft of area! The labels on these Herbicides only speak of how many ounces for 1000 square feet, and I have yet to see any label tell you that one gallon will cover 1000 sqft! Identifying the grass is important for sure, but the tables usually cover the types of grass and the weeds the herbicide is made to kill. The other thing is application, and using the blue dye is great to see how thick you are going down. Great video! Thanks for the help! We all know you have to grab a lard flat screw driver and get busy pulling weeds as well as killing them; because they don't just disappear now do they lol. It can get cumbersome for sure, but a nice lawn is better to look at than a bunch of weeds lol

    Ginja, thank you for the informative video!
    I have been trying to knocks out crabgrass for about two years using off the shelf stuff from my local national chain. After watching your video, I purchased 1.5 L of Quinlorac. Within 3 days of application, all of my bright green crabs have turned brown. I did not use a dye because I figured that whatever I miss would be evident within a few days and I would just go back to those spots. It worked. Six days in and the evidence is clear; more than a third of my lawn is brown. YEAH!
    Now the hard part... getting rid of all the dead crabs. In another week or two, I should be able to rake out the dead thatch and prep the soil for seed, just in time for fall planting. :)

    This is an excellent video. I have several of these products for my warm season grass specifically Celsius and Quinclorac. I actually have achieved great just using weed b gon from the big box store on many of the listed weeds. I would also suggest trying to stay ahead of weeds by applying a pre emergent twice a year at the label rates. It will be strange having a lot of weed control products that you actually don't need because on the rare occasion I see a weed I just pull it out. But great information in here Ginja. Thank you!

    • @PestandLawnGinja
      @PestandLawnGinja  4 года назад

      Hi Ethan! Those can be frustrating weeds for sure. I would focus on pre emergent apps twice a year at the high rate and alternate between dithiopyr and prodiamine. The rest is spraying them as you go. I still recommend using speedzone or t-zone for those weeds. I would spray weed killer every 6 to 8 weeks for the next 2 seasons.
