25 years later, this is one of the best breakdown I’ve ever seen of Tyson. A great tribute to Constantine D’Amato and how he was 50 years ahead of his time.
Roy Fokker wdym? Would this style not work in today’s boxing world?
IN MY TIME I WAS A KILLER, TODAY THESE BOYS ARE BUSINESS MEN.
Mike Tyson,
Cus was brilliant.
@@jManraM It would be more than vital, why, because not a single boxer has perfected the pick a boo style. It's not common and would definitely throw the opponent off guard.
Amen brother. it takes a special fighter to emulate the style, but none the less we witnessed it's effectiveness when conducted properly at an elite level.
Cus had a plan..found the right man then molded him into one the smartest and most vicious fighters that ever entered a boxing ring
If dude wouldnt have died tyson would have been really on another level
Cus had the all package as a trainer and a mentor. He had the big love for the art. He had the passion to produce the best. He had the knowledge, skill and will to transfer it to his disciples. He had the experience and the eye to identify a talent. To polish him and make him a diamond. He was also a great father figure.
Rob Axl hell yes
Facts! Mike is the epitome of the Peek-a-boo style itself.
Well, he found the right man more than once. He had all time greats before Tyson. 3 of them inducted to the HOF.
Tyson was no joke. 50 Wins and only 6 Losses in a 20 year career from a short 5'11ft Heavyweight beating the majority of his opponents who were well over 6ft Tall with much longer reach advantage over him is Incredible
Bryant Mungo wilder would lose to Tyson I’m afraid. Prime Tyson would slip bob and weave wilders big swings all day. Wilder also exposes his body and is off balance when he swings and Tyson would body shot him all day and get in close.
He's 5" 10
He’s 5’10...
Every culture knows it’s about the fight in the man not the size besides America...
@alexander usyk stop trolling
For a heavyweight, Tyson's head movement and foot speed were just amazing. Second only to Ali. Great analysis.
Tysons head was better and he used more combos

Tyson and Ali are two completely different fighters !!!!
@@Elevated-yid who u tellin that to cause everybody knows already
@@cmoneytheman mark sithole .. He said Tysons head movement and foot speed was second to Ali 😶 why did he even make the comparison? Ali would never beat Tyson anyway in my opinion...
Imagine 2 Mike tysons fighting each other, both shifting, bobbing and weaving. lol
It would be an endless fight

Anonymous ahahahaha fr huh crazyy
The closest that came to happening was tyson vs mathis. Buster mathis' middle name was constantine, after cus damato. His father trained with cus, then taught his son cus' style. When he died, joey fariello took over as busters trainer, another cus disciple. Watch that fight and it really is similar to what you said tyson vs tyson would be (except of course mathis didnt have the power). Theres even a few times when they make the same slip at the same time, like they were looking in the mirror.
Ah ha
This is the best breakdown of Mike Tyson peek a boo, now I can learn peek a boo, thank you.
Thank you. My son is 12. We started hitting the bag for the cardio. Then he showed me part 1. I’m afraid it’s turning into more than just a workout. 😳💯💪🏼. Thanks again. And big THANK YOU TO MIKE TYSON. You’re the best!
This is beautiful... deep appreciation for the details that aluminates the sweet science. Most people know nothing about boxing.

You are the best Coach.. Can't get enough of your videos...
Thank you so much 👊 please share the video so I can continue to bring great content!
The main part of the style was to get in a position were you could hit them a they couldn’t hit you this would allow you to throw everything into the punch with no fear of being counted
Right
Mike has great movement, that is one of the great aspects of his boxing greatness. I have come to appreciate that part of his boxing more and more.

I dont get how this channel is so 'small' this an absolute 'mekka' for boxing fans, coaches and students I really love what u do and the work that's put in to every video. Gotta watch em all!! Haha
Thank you. Just started one year ago. Hopefully the channel will continue to grow. It helps when people share the videos. I really appreciate your continuous support 👊
This instructor is legit. Genius breakdown of tyson movements. Genius breakdown of jab technique and foundation movement patterns in other videos. Thank you!
I live in Allentown Pa. i have not looked at your website. But assume you do privates if i come to see you or video call sessions?
Yes! Call or text me
Mike Tyson's lateral movements early in his career is what really made him so devastating as described here in the video. He set his opponents up for some vicious shots with a combination of power, leverage and agility that would leave his opponents in awkward positions. Good stuff!
@smokeyvelvet42 yessir! Good point, most if not all of his opponents could match his power but not his speed and agility which made it easy for him to move laterally and slip inside of their comfort zone set him apart. After Cus' passed that unique ability was basically nonexistent and he became easier to hit against like you said guys with equal power.
@gary corr it's true, he studied the sport and in a few ways refined the "sweet science" to some degree. In his prime he was masterful to watch. He was so offensive dominate that we almost forgot what a artful defender he was, as displayed in the video he would immediately convert defensive postures into quick and yes powerful, precise strikes of devastating offense.
@Big Cheefa absolutely! I was saying to gary corr his ability to go from defensive postures and suddenly convert it to offense with speed, precision and power was devastating. There was no defense for that type of movement. Vasly Loma comes to mind with that type of defense to offense conversion.
and so is rhythm!

Yes. Anything of particular interest?
@@WorldClassBoxingChannel maybe how he used his jab or the position of his hands. Which would be interesting due to the fact that many people think peek a boo involves the gloves being pressed on the lower portion of the face with the knuckles facing the opponent. Thanks for making that video. Not a boxer myself, I watched every Tyson fight at the time and to see your explanation all these year's later was very interesting.
Same here I grew up watching Tyson's matches with my dad who is a boxing enthusiast. But back then my dad would simply attribute mike to bob%weave and brute force. This explanation is more clear and showed us more than just brute force in Mike's style.

You nailed Tyson's exact movements here. I always knew there was a type of pattern Tyson followed that enabled him to execute his opponents but never figured it out until you displayed it and it was by far a brilliant strategy of Tyson. Cus D'Amato the peek a boo Master trainer. He trained Floyd Patterson years before who is probably the first fighter who mastered it. It worked well for smaller quicker fighters. One of the most beautiful styles, but it took a lot of energy and reflexes to work well.

@@WorldClassBoxingChannel I have, Coach, and they were excellent, also.
Thanks coach for this awesome series....
Coach, after the Tyson breakdown series can you do video on explaining Tyson's hero Jack Dempsey...In his book there is many things straight jolts, falling step or trigger step,The dempsey roll and power line....he recommends punching with last three fingers...But many coaches teach with 2 fingers??
By the way, when your instructional video on Boxing will release???
Word...good shit....... I'm Training at Cus's gym right now in the Catskills with one of Cus old fighters......once you get the shifts down pat.....shit is beautiful to watch...
I wish I had just a quarter of talent mike had.
Great video!!

Love the footwork videos this little doozy is going right in my burpee routine. Cheers Tom
Can you imagine Wilder's windmill punches against a prime Tyson? Tyson would have punished him easy.
Like a wave crashing onto rocks...
THAT'S YA OPINION
@@jimfocus3128 Yes it is. Cant i have one?
@@stickii2131 your imaginations are amazing
@@jimfocus3128 My opinion is you must be crazy if you think Wilder would have a chance against a prime Tyson. Too much head movement, angles, punch variety and ferociousness!
excellent demonstration!

Don't forget to mention it helps when you fight tomatoes. Tomatoes don't have much for footwork and counters. :)
Ah Oh. Not a Tyson fan? It's a shame we didn't see more of him at his prime, which was short lived for sure. After the Spinks fight we could see his skills rapidly declining. If Mike fought later in his career with the same techniques (as we demonstrated) that brought him to becoming a World Champion early on, many would think differently. Much to be debated here.
@@WorldClassBoxingChannel I don't disagree one bit with you. Had Cus D'amato lived another 10 years....how different it would have been.

Thank u that’s real good information. I’m trying to learn every movement.
Still funny how wilder said he would’ve beat Tyson in his primes 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Wilder would lose and blame the walk out costume and would say Tyson's gloves were tampered with. I lost all respect for Wilder after fury smoked him. King of excuses.
What a legend CuS was to figure all this out, he was way ahead of his time!
Mike looked as if he wanted every punch 2 KILL!!!!
yea and they say George was more dangerous
