Coach Tom...another amazingly detailed how-to video dissecting the great Mike Tyson. Also, need to give you a shout out for the all the work you put into Jab and Left Hook Videos I purchased from your site last week. So much detail and worth every penny. I never knew there was so much going on with just my left hand. Thank you so much for all your hard work!!!
Man School Thank you very much for all the support! I will be coming out with an instructional on the different varieties and different ways to use and throw the jab from different angles and target the jab to different areas of the body for different reasons as well.
@@WorldClassBoxingChannel Coach Tom, I hit the notification bell to keep an eye out for that new video instruction and to be informed when a new video comes out on YT. Thanks again.
I always analyzed this technique and wasnt quite sure what was Mikes intention this footwork. Now you gave me like microdetailed insight. Its unbelievable how you can explain and show things! Big shot out from you big fan from Czech Republic.
Before moving onto the heavy bag or the Willie bag, and practice the 8 sets of punches taught by Cus D'amato, I always warm up first with Mike Tyson shadow boxing from previous videos and just constantly moving my head in this video. I highly recommend everyone to practice the previous three Mike Tyson shadowboxing videos , they help a lot in getting into the rhythm of the pee-ka-boo style It's really taxing on the body in longer periods, but it's darn effective. Coach Tom and Mike Tyson know what's up , keep them Tyson videos coming , thx a hell lot , coach
@@sauryashrestha2046 Its good for entering the pocket and once you're in the pocket but I agree you can't just solely depend on it as your standup for MMA .
I think a good explanation for what you are doing at 10:00 is that you are moving your body, but keeping your center of gravity in the same place in space. When I'm practicing switch ups, I imagine there is a point in space where my weight needs to be, and I'm just adjusting my body to a different angle while keeping that point in space basically the same. I don't lose balance, and I keep all my loaded power because I'm merely transferring that center of gravity to the other hip.
Your classes are amazing, specially when discribing Tyson´s movements. I got back on trainning after many years, just by watching them...thank you., from Brazil.

Awesome insight into the Tyson peek a boo. Style. As this is the boxing style I want to learn as I'm 5ft 7. And I'm training to do a boxing exhibition. Of 6 X 2 minutes rounds. And I'm 50 years of age in August
I'm excited! Very relevant for short guys like me who have to cut the distance all the time. I remember one former coach telling me to use the "Tyson system" and briefly demonstrating very few aspects such as creating angles and upper body moving. But not a word pertaining to the various stances and the proper footwork. So I've tried the "Tyson system" while keeping an orthodox stance. (It doesn't really work.) Come to think of it, Tyson is so fast I never realized he could switch from neutral to orthodox or southpaw. It's only after one coach dissects it that I'm like "Oh yeah, that's right. He's doing this and that..." Thanks a lot, Coach!
Another thing I'd love to note as well, when it comes to the windshield wiper slipping. On the slip bag Mike Tyson almost exaggerates the movement and only moves his upper body which helps develop that spring in his lower back so when he decides to slip with his whole body it's much more springy and flexible because of the amount of training the lower back had
Love the detail. When turning that angle, shifting weight from lead leg to the new lead leg, the head shifts two head slots as well. Other channels show it and their head goes from above the lead leg to neutral, instead of one more over to the new lead leg Tyson is my all time favorite athlete, not just boxer. Thank you for the video 🤙🏽
Thanks so much for this video. Really breaks it down nicely. So much easier than trying to work out what Tyson is doing at full speed from old training clips.
Another great video! Would be awesome if you would cover the neutral stance from different angle views. From the front view cam it's not quite clear. Maybe from a side view? Thanks!
Your video helps a lot in my practice! I saw you coach Roy Jones against Mike Tyson during the charity fight. Mike Tyson still has the moves and bombs. I've been practicing his style since 2019, and it's energy draining. Keep it up, coach! Salute!
Great instruction coach. What gets me is that you had to be really brave and very sure of yourself to adopt and carry out the ' peek-a-boo style of boxing. Yes, you could initiate it with a jab, but often you only had your smarts, bravery and courage to step towards another man with only your confidence in your ability not to get punched and hurt coming in. I think you hit the nail on the head in other videos saying it was reliance on having your footwork combined with your upper body movement drilled and in sync. This reminds me of the book All Quiet On The Western Front with the German soldiers under Corporal Himmelstoss being drilled like zombies to the point where they would perform their tasks without even thinking, because this would be the difference to them between life and death when they had to advance or attacked under enemy fire. It really was a case of do or die, and in the midst of battle these openings appear fleetingly and the constant drilling means they could be acted on almost without thinking. Sorry, it's a little long-winded but that book always reminds me of a boxer's life. Keep up the great work. Someplace, somewhere Mike is smiling.

Thanks for this 👍
0:30 how mike use headmovemt /footwort to cut distance on taller oppenent
0:45 what he do after cut angle? Certain angles /shift he would don / certtain side step
0:50 time in desci..
1:30 mike multi stance fighter /had ability to always switch from southpaw to rt handed (but I can switch from rt handed stance too )
2:00 hands : rìght underneath eyes / on cheek bones
2:20 using windshield wiper head movement /and making forward progress
Lft and right
3:15 moving to lft or rt / I can do two different things
Step with back foot forward to change stance :/or keep it front foot infront
( so to change stance orthodox or southpaw )
3:50 so When step to rt I am in southpaw position
/but I can step with lft foot forward to be ortho
4:15 and I can use two headmovements moving forward to be aggressive
Windshield wiper movement (like dip ) /or weaving (drawing the letter u )
I can do it mixing both together or with just single one movement
4:45 moving forward with just windhield wiper movement
4:55 I can do it both ways movin rt foot on lft step
Or movin lft foot forward on rt step
5:40 or I can do it with the weave motion too
5:55 or I can mix it up too
6:30 everything hip turn /on the windshield wiper and weave movement
7:02 mike doing it
7:08 side step
7:30 other things I can do is to shift after jab then dip /then shift switch to southpaw
And when jabbing turn to heel toe stance
Throwin rt hook/or 45(short hook)
8:15 opponent anticipate rt hand and weavd /then shift to southpaw and throw rt hook
9:04 mike doin it
9:25 other stuff/ is I can dip then shift and stay orthodox ( but in heel toe stance)
(so its like pivot more )
Throw rt hand /lft hook
9:50 dip: lft shoulder lower than rt shoulder (weight on lft hip )
Shift stay ortho: lft is higher again
(Drop rt shoulder back lft is higher /hips turn clockwise /bring weight back to rt hip )
10:25 and on shift (pivot )
/lft foot go forward /rt foot goes to lft
11:10 mike doing it
11:15 (do drill jab /without heel toe /stay squared)
Shift to southpaw differnce
12:30 when I shift and stay ortho (I turn to heel toe stance )
To throw power on these shots I think!!
12:40 when shift and change to southpaw /I can drop lead shoulder for body shot or short hook
Or I can stay up (keeping lft shpulder lower /not drop )
And throw normal hook
13:15 so thats two different options /turn southpaw (heel toe )
Stay ortho (heel toe)
(reason not heel toe at beginning /becz of multi stance to be able to shift and change position )
13:55 after shift I want stay heel toe/ not get my rt foot behind lft foot
15:05 mike doin it
