  • Problems with taller opponents? The Tyson drill should be your bread and butter. In fact, you should be using head movement no matter what.
...And yes, I call it that in honor of Mike Tyson's movements. 👊
If you enjoyed this, I have a free version of my Fit & Fight Ready Course with a bunch of in-depth videos just like this. If you're interested getting fit to fight, make a free account on my website and check out the Free Trial Course by clicking the link. 👉 bit.ly/2NOaAtE

@@TjDillashaw1 He still is. And listen, I get you are a higher calibre fighter and all. And respect to you for what you had to do to get where you are today.
But you can't make a video on slipping like an all time legend while not even moving anything like him.
The slip starts at the waste and involves your whole mid section bending sideways as a 45 degree angle. This is to generate torque on your way back to centre when you throw your hooks.
Slipping far over also enable to stance switch to power up the hooks and uppercuts.
Like I said, all the respect to you. You seem like a pretty stand up guy in comparison to alot of other UFC goons, but this isn't a Tyson drill.

@@jeremiahjeremiah1319 good for power but in mma u dont slip your head too far should you run into a head kick, head movement is kept pretty minimal in mma, and dillashaw aint just a high caliber fighter, he is of the world caliber.

Technically, this defense is called the "Dempsey Roll," whom Tyson adopted this move from. Tyson, however perfected it so it appears to have come from him but historically it came from Dempsey. Dempsey was one of the boxer's that Tyson enjoyed studying, and Cus was such a boxing professor that you were going to get a myriad of boxers and their techniques to study to have in your arsenal.

No it's not. The dempsey roll is a double shift used to chase down an opponent stepping away. Throw a right, step through into southpaw, throw a left, step through again back to orthodox.

And then there are still those DELUSIONAL IDIOTS who firmly believe that Bruised Lee could beat a 'primetime' Iron Mike Tyson... I just wonder how on earth would Lee possibly even have the CHIN to survive all those BIG heavy punches (1200 to 1800 PSI per hit) like Ribalta did? 🤔

I've practiced martial arts for a while, but only ever by myself. I could get the movements down and do nice flows and technique, that is, until I started sparring. Immediately sparring showed every bad technique I had been using (in terms of footwork and balance). My punches are great, stiff, snappy. My feet and my balance however make those punches impossible to ever throw in a real situation. I just wanted to say this drill is amazing for not only feeling out the way to move forward in a balanced position, but it also forces your feet to maintain correct heel-toe alignment.
    Thanks.
