Noticed that Tyson mentioned, "the gods of war" (yeah, plural). Usually, each mythology has one god of war; but on the Tyson scale, several gods of war are necessary. :)

Listen... YOUR VIDEOS ARE AMAZING... and... YOU ARE AMAZING!!! I honestly can't thank you enough for these videos you've made on the peekaboo style!!! I used to box competitively in the amateurs, and while I won all my fights, and managed to stop most of them... I ALWAYS STRUGGLED WITH EATING TOO MANY PUNCHES IN ORDER TO CLOSE THE DISTANCE!!! It was a BIG PROBLEM!!! As a short, stocky, quick, and powerful puncher I had to close the distance, and basically EVERYONE I fought was TALLER than me with LONGER ARMS... this meant eating way too many punches with my face while trying to get to a range that suited me. This was incredibly frustrating! I had ALWAYS been amazed with Mike Tyson's defensive responsibility he had while doing this, and I KNEW that this was a style that would work very well for me, and my body type, however, absolutely NOBODY was teaching this! Boxing coaches had NO IDEA how to do or teach peekaboo, no one understood it. I was so fascinated with the peekaboo style I actually purchased a $500 tutorial... THAT TAUGHT ME ALMOST NOTHING!!! I have learned TEN TIMES MORE from TWO of your videos then I learned in that expensive video course! You are an incredible teacher, you communicate really well, and teach the tricky footwork and movement that I was struggling to understand... the part that makes the peekaboo style work!!! Thank you so much!!! Incredible content, I rarely subscribe to anyone, but you are someone I HAVE to listen to! I wish you were my coach... I doubt I could afford you, but WoW... phenomenal videos!!! Thank you!!!

0:20 continue how mike used headmovent /footwork
    To syncronize moves after that
(Today how he used hop step /or side step after that)
1:10 if he move to rt /turn southpaw
If he move to lft /turn orthodox
    Off those hop step
    1:40 multi stance neutal stance/aggresive
    Hands on cheek bones/underneath eyes
    2:00 windshiel wiper/or weave headmovement
Being agreesive wiyh those moves moving forward
2:30 start with windshield 6 times
Every time I dip shoulder traj change
    While moving feet
3:04 after get to opponent and Iam in range now to land somthin (close range!!)
    3:10 make opponent think different
move to left (dip to left )
    Then hop step to rt
3:35 when doing hop step to rt
    I turn to southpaw
3:50 Hop step :both feet movin same timr
Not jump up in the air
4:05 whrn going to lft /lft foot moves infront of rt (weight on lft hip )
Push off lft hip and hop step /bring rt foot in front (southpaw)
4:25 and Iam getting outside that guy shoulder
And can hit him with rt hook
4:40 why I do hopstep and turn southpaw?
/ 1 is becz when I dip and step to lft rhen hop step guy getting confused ..
    (think rt side body
Then hop step to lft side attack now )
4:55 2 to get my rt back strong hand closer to land closer rt hook
(same principle when shift and switch )
To get outside guy lft shoulder
5:20 inches are everything in boxing
5:43 I can hop step and stay rt handed too
But I have to throw my rt hand from further distance
If I turn to southpaw I can throw rt hook and lft hook too
If I stay ortho I can't throw lft hook until I thrrw the rt hand
    6:30 just like shift /
I can bock rt hand or roll with or go down but Iam still in line of lft hook
7:10 I can block it and come back with rt hook
But Iam still in line of lft hook
7:15 Shift :torque power (weight )on rt hip
    Rt hand closer
So he is empty of shots
    Hit not get hit
    8:35 his line attack empty
Or he have to represtion himself to hit me with lft hook /whiches gonna take more time
    8:52 mike doin it
9:20 with hop step :I turn from being orthodox (or neutral)
    To southpaw
Or stay ortho (but get that heel to )
But I have to travel further with rt hand /
10:00 and I dont have lft hand in position until throw rt hand
10:05 But in southpaw I can throw rear lft hook /or straight lft hand
10:10 and if guy get away I can cut him right back being right hander /and take angle and throw lft hook
10:20 so either way I move I have hand closer to whatever angle the guy move
10:45 southpaw better than ortho to seal the angle better / and close that gap better
11:35 straight back hand turn /!!
10:05 straight back hand turn /!!
12:13 straight back hand turn /!!
12:15 get outside lft shoulder/ I have to travel morr distance as orthodox
12:35 and I have to turn if I want start with lft hook /and he have more room to turn and get away
(I cant catch him with lft hand like in southpaw position /and cant cut angle at him as fast at him if he tried to get away and take angle )
13:00 again to get feet closer..
If stay right handed then have to move to right ...
14:00 southpaw vs right hander: keep feet at outside of the opposite stance( lead foot )
All these Little angles /inches /little th8ngs make big difference
14:38 hop step to right (stay ortho ) / dip rt first
14:50 and I stay change to southpaw hopstepping to rt /or stay ortho
/like staying ortho or change to southpaw hopping to rt
15:05 but normaly southpaw hopstep to rt /ortho hopstep to lft
15:20 Ican hkpstep off of weave too
    15:35 hopstep rt or lft
I move head one way /hopstep the other way
16:10 hopstep going to rt rt foot infront
Hopstep going to lft lft foot infront
16:50 its hopstep /not side step.
    17:14 mike doin it
17:32 body mechanic: dip or weave lft /weight on lft hip give me power to hopstep to rt
Then weight change on opposite hip after hopstep /shoulder traj change on dip and weave/ and on hopstep after (if I go to body )if not ...normal shoulder traj lead higher than other shoulder
18:30 I chose want drop shoulder traj or no after hopstep /if I go to body I drop ..
18:50 first I start neutral stance /then change to heel toe after hopstep !!
19:02 not jumping in air /little hopstep
    19:20 hips turning too/clockwise /counter clockwise
19:45 same thing with weave /
    Weave : 2 differnt ways
Drop shoulder if going to body / or just to make it look going to body then go to head
Or Just drawing the letter U and weave
20:05 but same thing on weave then hopstep /hips turning too
    20:50 turn my waist
    21:35 repetion is key
(but I have to know the body mechanic of what I practicing ) dont train body wrong thing
22:00 greatness is in details /what I do with shoulder traj /what I do with hip turn /what I do with feet
22:20 mike doin it / Jab first or jab while moving and hopstepping to close his eyes

Thank you so much for sharing this knowledge, I'm new to boxing and quite honestly I get it handed it to me every time I spar (I've only sparred three times) but I'm determined to get better and I WILL get better, I'm still mastering the fundamentals, less body more angle but this style has always appealed to me and I love to use it when I hit the heavy bad at my own house, I'll definitely play around with this next time I spar and let you guys know how it went, obviously I'm a newbie to boxing so it won't be pretty but I did kind of use the stance shift/hop and I caught the guy with a good uppercut

Amazing as always: Could you someday explain the mechanics of the movement by which he moves forward? Personally, I can do it, however, when I try to explain it to other people they have a hard time learning it; besides, Tyson did it at least in 2 different ways : keeping the right guard (left foot forward) and changing guard with each step (shifting, like walking, putting one step forward then the otherone); some foot movement drill to automate that would be great ! thanks again !

Another great one. Hey Coach I’m glad you mentioned “ boxing is a game of inches “. Real talk ,..I make comparisons with another sport, drum roll plz!
    Tennis!
    (My humble opinion)
That was one of the first things I learn when I started playing tennis. its a game of inches too. The more I push that ball away from you, the more I take time away from you, more likelihood you cannot response with a legitimate offensive shot of you’re own. You’re to busy chase balls, over reaching, off balance, jammed up or just making desperate shot attempts.
Tyson footwork/head movement/ shifts/ hop sets would do the same thing. Take time away from his opponents. Put them on the back foot immediately. Then the shift/or hop step to southpaw was nasty. Once inside he jammed up his opponents but Tyson was free to fire at will because of the neural movement.
    Great video Coach.

Cus was a genius with the style..-- when he discovered that Mike had power in both hands, he knew he came across the perfrect "machine" (Mike was young, compact, powerful, explosive, perfect temperament and had quick feet for his system. ) Although Floyd Patterson employed this style effectively -in my opinion Mike is the epitome of this fighting/boxing style... just like the Shoulder Roll, not everyone can pull this off.--talent and instincts come into play as well.

Coach I couldnt brush off this thought. I was watching some other videos about Mike Tyson. In that the coah mentioned that one of the things that made him dangerous was not just his technique but jus power as well. His style was suited and tailored to his power. Without power then his techniques are useless.
It got me thinking. Power is definitely a huge factor to his style but I wanted your thoughts as well on.
As always coach grest video and stay safe.

    • @clayfinley

Actually I think his style allowed him to generate that power, because of the shifting, he’s always loaded for a power shot. Power the product of good positioning and technique.

"It was almost like you were in a cage" - it's understandable why guys were so afraid of this guy 😂. Imagine such ferocity following you everywhere without a breather in the ring. Was Mike defeatable at his prime (pre-Don King) coach Tom?
