How the times have changed. Pat won’t shut up about how much he loves ff14.
He found his good people. The closest thing to getting it changed to a solo game is actually finding people you can trust. It's the eventual gift of talking about it publicly and going back regardless of your annoyance.

RIGHT?! Party fouls are the freaking worst! Guy asks for help in a challenge area, rolls need on everything that drops. Doesn't share the quest so I can get credit. I take an hour of my time to help him out and get lieterally nothing for it. Fuck people.

It sounds like Pat wants to play Xenoblade Chronicles X. Massive world, engaging story, lots of quests, and all single player, aside from optional multiplayer with 0 bearing on the actual game.
Or Witcher 3. Or FFXII. Or...

Easy solution to long que times is to play a Tank.

like, I just dont feel confident enough to play tank, so I play a more supportive role. and one time, a tank quit before a dungeon started.
me and the group I was with waited for over half an hour and NOTHING.
The sad state of the game is that no one wants to play tank, and so this is what always happens. Try out Marauder. You're going to be terrible at holding aggro until level 30, until you get a proper "tank stance". But once you hit level 50, you'll get your "dps stance" and be doing more damage than the dragoon next to you, while being able to take hits far easier than him.
My favorite thing about Pat talking about playing with the FC and fans of SBFP and Woolie keeps asking about how "randoms are bad but these people are somehow better?" And not understanding when Pat says yes.
Pat never says it but let's be real. When the FC was started and people joined it. They probably worked really really hard to be good at the game so as to not piss off Pat.

I see both sides on this, I like meeting other players in MMOS though. I tank mostly but I'm a patient person so I don't mind wipes and such.
I'm patient till the 15th whipe. after that I'm gonna either a. throw my monitor out the window or b. put every file of the game on a external state drive and throw that out the window
TheVaultNerd it's not wipes that are the problem. it's the people screeching at you to do your job while refusing to do theirs.
i like how 75% of this is just pat since none of them play ffxiv(except liam?)

You can solo the earlier dungeons now, I believe.
Before, it was because you can hit level cap and steamroll through it.
NOWADAYS, you can solo it with a party of NPCs, though I wish you had the option of having like you, a single other person in your party, and 2 NPCs, but that's good too.

Dude I dropped that shit hard please find these (Insert X Items) for me to progress. Do it come back tells me to talk to someone else 10 minutes away on the other side of the map. Love Star Wars but the MMO formula cause my fun to shrivel.
They do have full storymodes now, not just class specific ones. I mostly enjoyed it because it was a MMO with an actual focus on story, and some solid ones at that.

More like what Two Worlds promised and failed to deliver.
Maybe it's because I never had to play on American servers, but the only reason I ever disliked playing WoW with other people was when players were too focused on power-gaming and bruteforced past sections of dungeons while ignoring the atmosphere. Maybe it's because Europeans players are just better at MMOs? Looking at WoW, the top guilds are mostly European and Asian, with just one or two American guilds. I can't imagine that it would be very different for Final Fantasy XIV.
It's just that those players playing with you at the time probably already played those dungeons multiple times and they're there just for the rewards and stuff, it becomes a problem when someone in the party is new and wants to walk around and stuff, I was on both sides of that situation and that just made me give up as soon as I noticed that was a thing
I do think MMO's should have an offline mode.
Pat complains that the guildhests made to teach new people have people who are learning and don't know how to play yet lol.

FFXIV has that bad Quest design. You should never tie dungeons to the main storyline, and if you do, you should make it possible for people to solo them. Blade & Soul is fantastic for that, there you can either play most dungeons solo or in a party. Not because I don't want to team up with people. But because i don't want to wait 30-60 minutes in a queue to finish a mandatory quest. That is bullshit.
Look forward to Shadowbringers which fixes that with the Trust system.
