I enjoyed listening to this. Witcher 3 really is amazing. Theres so much love put into it its insane.
Also great example of how the developers are insane. The spirit under the tree. You do it normally you either kill a bunch of shit kids and kinda save shit baron, who actually is sort of cool despite the ptsd drinking abuse, or you cause baron to commit suicide after wifey becomes a hag. Two options affected by if you kill the witch spirit. BUT, if you stumble onto the spirit, you can save it, the kids, and the wife/baron. That shit is crazy and it makes sense.
Sploogmaster2 If you do it like that, then you don't find the note at the Novigrad orphanage indicating that the kids have been saved.
Also, it's implied that Black Beauty goes on to destroy the rest of Velen the same way she destroyed Downwarren, judging by the in-game book "She Who Knows".
More likely that it's just something CD Projekt overlooked.
You may want to read the books to find out that Yen was actually tortured while Gerald had amnesia ;(

The questline Pat's referencing isn't really a retcon. More like an alternative character interpretation. All that stuff still happened, it was just not nearly as meaningful (potentially).
No I do not buy for a second that either yennefer or Geralt would ever question their love! They both know they would love each other even without the wish

What do you mean Metal Gear has two disks? Star Ocean: Second Story? Fear Effect? Just Pat's incredulous comment about the Witcher's 3 story length cracked me up. Plus the return to familiar location like Pat said, is one of the reasons I love FFX, technically different story telling devices, FFX is In Media Res or starting a story that doesn't make sense yet, then somewhat going through flashbacks until you reach that point and Witcher 3, which returns to an old familiar site.
Yennefer and geralt happy at home and Ciri as empress bringing peace to the northern realms is the best ending in my opinion.

Yen is canon yes. If we were judging by all the lore then her all the way. But as a guy who started with W3, she came off as a bitch and had little to no waifu value. Triss however was always loving and understanding. Just the easier choice imo. (Even though the game is obviously tailored for the Yen choice. The fact that CD PR actually gives you the option is really nice all considering.)
You say that, but Triss did a scummy thing, taking advantage of Geralt, she being a supposed "dear friend" of Yennefer's. Triss is shady af. And believe me, she knew Yen was alive and well. Sorceresses are NOT to be trusted in the Witcher games. Plus there's a path where you get no waifu.

What was the retcon Pat was talking about again? Open to spoilers.
The Last Wish is about how Geralt and Yen got together. We never get to see the exact details in the ending of the story but the game lets you fill in the blanks in a way that puts what happens after into question.
Geralt makes a wish to a genie to save Yen''s life. The wish specifically involved them staying together.
Ah, now I remember. They had her undo the curse which was suppise to be a big deal in the books, just to test out if they really loved each other.

I know this is a really old video so probably not gonna get a response, but can someone tell me what the fuck is Pat talking about at 31:12 regarding sitting at the bonfire at the location of the final boss of witcher 1? I've beaten the game 3 times and have no idea what he's talking about, I've tried googling it and couldn't find anything
did the second run of the game ended up geting the bad ending ciri dying i feelt such despair i had to do third run and just look up everything again rofl xD...
Dude, I got bad ending twice. Had no idea what I was doing wrong. On my third playthrough, I Finished Hearts of stone first...

The problem with both Yen and Triss as romance options is that they are both objectively bad matches for Geralt. Both manipulate and lie to him constantly. I would’ve loved it if Shani was a legit romance option and not a quick hookup.

It wasn't in the game from the start, it is a really good feature and choice IMO but it's not a super obvious thing.

lawlietXcake132 i know a bunch of people who've played skyrim, very few who've beaten alduin, and none who won the civil war. i'd say the writing for the main story is not very good
Mason Graye agreed, worst part is that it feels like the main quest has no effect on the larger world, and you have no real choices durring the main plot either where as fallout 3, doesnt have as much change, but still you can make a physical impact on the world.

zayn2123 Triss is from the books and was a close friend of both Geralt and Yen. She COULD have helped Gerald with his memory and finding his wife/adopted daughter, but INSTEAD she took advantage of him to get laid.
Also you can find out that at one point in the books she sold out Ciri (adopted daughter and the person you are looking for most of the game) to a bunch of sorceresses, which is something Yen would NEVER do cause daughteru.
But..but... what about Shani?
