    I really cannot wrap my head around your genius mind, dear coach Firas!
    Also: Why does this only have so few views? It could change the MMA game for all grapplers.

    Firas Zahabi is always impressing me with his detailed explanations & technical breakdowns. He makes it extremely easy to understand. If anyone reading this comment has the opportunity to train with him; do not hesitate or pass it up. He is a great teacher. I have been blessed enough to do so one weekend & am looking forward to the next chance! He is a perfect example of why you need to innovate your own game oppose to imitating someone else's. Osu!

    i have been watching mma bjj tutorials for a long time and never knew that firas has such an awesome channel. i can find everything in this channel and all techniques are so nicely explained. I tried this unbelievable nice web guard recently and really have to say that the normal guardpull is just becoming extinct in my life. I am also able to switch it to a triangle after hitting the floor with my partner, especially when your opponent can smell the armbar and defends it. thank you firas, you are officially my new online mma bjj master. Osss!!!

    Hi Guys,
    Inspired by Eddies "Third option" concept of guard pulling in MMA I put together a breakdown video that covers a whole ton of guard pulls and from where they happened.
    The main fighters I look at are Shinya Aoki, Demina Maia, Kron Gracie, Paul Sass, Andre Galvao, Masakazu Imanari & Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira.
    Check it out here: ruclips.net/video/qJYVvVMiQKY/видео.html
    Enjoy!

    mind blown. really love the key factor of getting hips to the side. maybe if they taught this everywhere from the beginning for guard pulling ibjjf wouldn't have to ban it for white belts.

    Are you worried about injuring your partner's knees? If so, how do you avoid it?
    My biggest hang-up about guard pulling is fear of inadvertently injuring my partner.

  • @spearofsolomon

    Hi coach, thanks for all your insightful, technical instruction.
    While I watched this video, I wondered how you feel about the possibility of landing on your head while pulling guard like this, either by accident or because the other guy times it. Is that something you're careful to avoid?

  • @richardleonhard3971

    Do you think this would be a good tool for Fabrizio Werdum against Cain tonight? I really think this would increase his chances a lot, especially if he goes for a sweep. Of course, his guard is good but his advantage would be bigger with Cain on his back. Btw, have we ever seen Cain's bottom ground game?

    Thank you for this, this is one of the most interesting concepts im going to experiment with. I have yet to read/watch ur stuff but i have been curious about wrist locks in mma. Is the glove really so reinforced or is there potential for it, not just on the ground, but even in clinch. Thx

    For MMA: How about your opponent timing your jump and slamming you? Maybe simultaneously sprawl to get rid of your hook around the leg? (not bashing, just thinking counters)

    • @Ponder_lust
      @Ponder_lust 9 лет назад

      +cwayne4 Im no Firas, but I can imagine the scenario possible but not very likely to happen. As with all techniques, non is fool proof. It takes a huge commitment from your opponent to sprawl hard enough to damage you on the mat. If you are facing someone who is hell bent on sprawling hard everytime you get an overhook, just fake a guard pull, and when he sprawls do a front headlock and snap him down hard and take his back.

    • @CoachZahabi
      @CoachZahabi  9 лет назад +8

      IBJJF rules are killing Jiu-Jitsu. I hope Submission Only style keeps getting more popular.

      Pepa Rododendron It´s only illegal for whitebelts.

    If i pull guard i usually pull half guard, most of the time people let me get exactly where i want to (underhooks, lockdown) because they feel confident in top half guard. I really like electric chair sweeps to get side control or set up leg locks, the momentum from pulling half guard makes the "whip up" motion pretty easy.
    When you pull web guard how do you deal with getting slammed/spiked on your neck? Seems like your neck would be vulnerable but i have never tried this so i have no idea.
    These vids are great, easily the best martial arts tutorials i've seen i always learn something i can apply to my own training. Im sure you get requests all the time, but i would love a video like the one you did on the inside right hand on the left hook to the body, im tired of getting countered

    • @CoachZahabi
      @CoachZahabi  9 лет назад +2

      I'm putting it on the list! Great suggestion. Drill the web guard as described and u won't get slammed. By hooking the leg he can't slam new

    Do you think that BJJ is changing not just in the no gi aspect but also in the sense of being able to do it without grips? Kind of like how many sanda throws can be done with boxing gloves? I noticed most of what you were doing wasn't reliant on hand grips. Also, can this move be practiced from the knees first then gradually progressed up to the feet? Also do you think the gi should be abandoned or should BJJ guys still train with it?

  • @Anthony126517RKO

    I recently did the web guard. It's a very effective guard pull. I'm gonna study this video but i had a question about it. While doing this guard pull i wasn't hooking the outside of the leg. I hooked the inside of the leg and did pendulum sweep after i jumped the back. I rolled right into mount any tips on when i should hook the outside leg after jumping to the back.

    • @CoachZahabi
      @CoachZahabi  9 лет назад

      ***** Great to hear!!! part 2 should be out next Monday or Tuesday so keep an eye out for that. I always try and hook the outside leg cause I find it to be more powerful, I on ly hook the inside leg when the sprawl, this will still work because by sprawling the leg they create a free fall that powers the pendulum, hence the name power pendulum.

    Hey Coach, I have tried this several times with a training partner and I keep banging my upper neck and head as I go down! Also, my partner knows it's coming and he goes with the downward pull half the time and I end up in a weak position. Isn't there a better way to do this?

  • @cl0ckch0ke
    @cl0ckch0ke 9 лет назад +1

    When the opponent moves his leg back and opens a hole underneath him, what is the key to prevent landing on your head or getting the wind knocked out of you if he drops you (accidentally or on purpose) as soon as you jump?

    • @CoachZahabi
      @CoachZahabi  9 лет назад +1

      cl0ckch0ke Be sure to drill this closed guard sweep first on the ground. It is the exact same maneuver but without all the acrobatics. ruclips.net/video/X6FZ77jkBo0/видео.html
      When I jump web guard I am catching my opponent head which acts as a break. I a also grabbing his leg which doesn't allow him to slam me. In part two of this series I will make this even more clear.

    Coach i done it with success 3 times in Nogi sparring .once i landed directly in the armbar one time in triangle and the third time in a kneebar then switched in to toe hold but the fourth time i dont know what happend maybe i was tired but my partner noticed it and slamed me in to ground i was able to hold guard but could not finish a submission my question is should i pull it out when my opponent is dry and concentrated on basics or later in the Fight? actually i mean on competition Not in sparring

    • @CoachZahabi
      @CoachZahabi  9 лет назад +2

      Alejandro Mercutio Excellent! 3 out of 4 is good but don't forget this is just one move you ned to set it up with other attacks. The 4th time you attempted the Web Guard your partner probably saw it coming a mile away. Go to something else.... Double leg, snap down, knee tap, ankle pic etc.. take what your partner gives you. Web Guard is just one possibility.

    • @Cebrail-FB
      @Cebrail-FB 9 лет назад

      I do set it up you know, i guess i was to stucked in to the success from the first three times you know i never done this move before. maybe thats why. i should fake a harai goshi or something but thx it was awesome to pull something new out and surprise my partner definetly a new weapon in my Arsenal thx for that ChampMaker!
