Absolutely one of the best ELD how to videos out there! I learned a lot in 19 minutes!! I enjoy your videos because you are to the point and actually have done what you are preaching. Thanks man from a future HS Business Owner in Las Vegas.
Question: lets say you hit your 14 hour OD time. You need 10 hours to reset the clock. Are you allowed to drive the vehicle to lets say a restaurant, or place of entertainment? Or can the vehicle no longer be used?
ELDs need to be deregulated I don’t see how this saves lives considering other blue collar jobs that work 12 to 16 hours plus drive time 7 days per week don’t need them.
I have commercial plates on my truck. I'm not ready to go otr. No eld. Trailer not ready. I need use truck to go to another job. 35 miles each way. How do I log this or do I not log it.
Fantastic video. Much appreciated. In a team driving situation, if you don't have a sleeper berth can my team mate drive while I'm off duty? I understand I can only be in the front seat more than 2 hours off duty. It's just not feasible dimension wise for us to have a sleeper berth.
Great video man!! Question: In regards to extensive unloading and pick up time, washing the truck, repairing a tire, (not including fuel, pre trip, inspections) can I go off duty so I don’t eat up my 14 hours on duty. I’m thinking, if I go off duty for everything expect for fuel and pre trip, I don’t see how I would ever have to worry about the 14 hours shift time because I will always hit the 11 drive time first. Ex: if I drive from 5am to 11am (6 hrs), the shipper took 5 hours to upload me, so I only record 30 for my break and the other 4:30 as off duty, I started back driving at 4pm. Can I drive until 9pm to put me at 11hrs drive time for the day and not putting me over my 14 hrs of on duty time?
I have to correct you you do not have to give the DOT officer your phone he will give you a code to transfer the data to his laptop, you do not have to give up your Phone.
I dropped off and won’t have another load for a few days. I still have 8 hours left on my 70 hours. I went off duty and my app is still showing the 8 hours until my 34 hours off. Will that 8 hours run out like it should when I’m logged in as off duty ?

Question 🙋♂️: Can you retroactively edit a previous log entry? And if so, how does it show up in the system? And does it tell the DOT officer that you retroactively made an edit versus doing it in real time? Also, is it likely that you’ll get in trouble by DOT if they catch you go in a few minutes over? Let’s say for example you get to the shipper/receiver and they have you wait for hours and hours, it took so long for them to get ready that now you’re 14 hour shift is up. If the computer is automatically going to log you as driving when you drive that 100 yards to back in to the dock or to leave their property, that would technically be a violation. So if you do that and it shows up as a violation is that gonna be a problem? And also, is that one of the times you would suggest unplugging the ELD since there won’t really be a mileage discrepancy because I’ll only be a total of 1-2 miles?

If I drive to repair shop on duty drive. Do I keep it on duty till it's fixed?
Question: lets say you hit your 14 hour OD time. You need 10 hours to reset the clock. Are you allowed to drive the vehicle to lets say a restaurant, or place of entertainment? Or can the vehicle no longer be used?
Not really allowed but everyone does it
@@therealtruckingguy thank you for responding!
What app are you using? Geo tap?
Very well explained however am I the only one who cannot see upper portion in my youtube view so I can actually see what you are talking about?
Must be because i can see it fine

On that 30 minute break if you’re an old guy can you take a nap for an hour or two
Yes

Go take the plate and switch it till u are ready or u can get into a problem

Cant do team driving with
Out a sleeper set up don’t have to use it just have to have it
@The Trucking Guy 10 4. Was afraid of that. Happen to know the 395.1 b type of law cite where it spells out sleeper berth requirements
This was helpful

What if there is two drivers in the truck ?
Does anyone know how I can track how many miles I drive in a each state for IFTA reporting?
Your ELD will do it for you

U have to show some time for loading and unloading or u will get in trouble
If it takes 4 hours to load then log 15 mins loading and the rest off duty 👍🏻.
@@JohnnyRebKy 15 min load with off duty with what note 😂
I have to correct you you do not have to give the DOT officer your phone he will give you a code to transfer the data to his laptop, you do not have to give up your Phone.
How to do a pertrip
Does the hours of DH to the pick up count towards your total hours??
Yes
Are you saying, we can take break as many time we want ?
You can but within a 14-hour window time is being deducted from how much time you are taking away bullshittin around.

Are you accounting for the new HOS rule change
No i did not want to confuse people I’m going to do another video later on going in more detail
How do you use P C when you're not working
U just use it
So if I stay 150 miles from my starting point then I do not need an ELD? what if i go outside the 150 mile radius once a week?
I kinda want to know too. 🤔
Damn dude.. Info is great but slow down.
It’s like trying to keep up with an auctioneer
Thank you for this informative video!!!
Thanks
I still don't understand this damn thing
Any eld that don’t require a monthly payment
They all do unless you pay it in full for the year
