This 'incident' involved the Dutch contestant making a "threatening" gesture to a camera held by a woman - who he didn't touch - who was harassing him after repeated and clear agreements - set in advance - of not wanting to be filmed on that occasion. The Netherlands is 1 of the original 7 and they kick us out over THIS?

If it's _Euro_ vision, how is Israel and Australia allowed to compete? Why not Syria, Iraq, Jordan or any African country come to that? My map of Europe doesn't include Israel and Australia, so what's going on?

Joost Klein only made "a threatening movement" towards a camera and did not hit anyone. This is what broadcaster AVROTROS said in a response to the disqualification of the Dutch Eurovision Song Contest entry. The broadcaster said it had proposed "various solutions" to organizer EBU, but the latter decided to disqualify Klein.
"An incident occurred after last Thursday's performance.
Against clear agreements, Joost was filmed when he had just gotten off stage and had to rush to the greenroom," writes the AVROTROS.
"At that moment, Joost repeatedly indicated that he did not want to be filmed. This was not responded to. This led to a threatening movement from Joost towards the camera. Joost did not touch the camera woman."
The incident was reported and the police launched an investigation. It was announced on Saturday that Klein will not be allowed to participate in Saturday evening's final. "AVROTROS finds the measure very heavy and disproportionate. We stand for good manners, let there be no misunderstanding about that, but in our view an exclusion measure is disproportionate to this incident," said the broadcaster, who said "very disappointed and upset", also for the millions of fans. "What Joost brought to the Netherlands and Europe should not have ended this way."
The police investigation in Malmö has now been completed. This is now with the Public Prosecution Service of Sweden, which is further investigating whether Klein will be prosecuted. The investigation will take a few weeks, a police spokesperson said.

Israel has this split personality WRT to the question of whether to boot it from the EuroVision. One side is very much aligned with the free-spirited character of the EuroVision, and the EU (or what it used to be and stand for before the Woke madness that was imported from the US in some countries). You have all those people that were murdered on Oct-7th while they were in a dance party. Israel, over the last years, has been able to consistently rank high in the EuroVision, mainly because it brings songs which are aligned with the tasted of the EuroVision audience, and that means that this side of the Israeli split pesonality shares common values with Europeans. The other side is... well... I don't want to analyze it here too much but it definitely doesn't share values with the EuroVision (much like most Islamists in Europe don't, BTW).
