If you dont know, please do not lie : A Major Restoration of Rome’s Trevi Fountain Is Underway-and Open for Viewing. Starting in November, the fountain’s lower basin is scheduled to undergo a €300,000 ($329,000) maintenance under the auspices of the Capitoline Superintendency, during which experts will work to eliminate over-encrusted calcium that has built up over time due to the city’s hard water. Workers will also get rid of rust from preexisting bolts holding the fountain together, while manicuring the grounds around it. During the five-week-long process., a temporary walkway will be constructed around the foundation, allowing visitors to still view the monument’s various aspects, notably the statue of Oceanus, the Greek god of the sea, and his horse drawn chariot.

Italian citizens are spending more than 1 milion of euros to keep this beauty as soon as possible open again to everybody who wants to see it.
The entrance fee is about to be introduced at the Trevi fountain. Google it my friend.
get better informed instead of spreading hate, perhaps (at the moment it is an idea not a law) for the Jubilee year 2025 alone for a certain area where coins are thrown into the fountain you will pay 1 euro or 2 euros and there will be no barriers, the ones you are showing they are extraordinary works and you should explain it instead of saying that they want to block tourists in a city that is a free open-air museum for everyone and also has to tolerate those who often insult it at the expenses of Italian citizens

Greed on full display
This barrier has been erected to protect the monument while it’s being cleaned. Nothing more than that so calm down.
I have been to Rome 16 times. Some times twice a year starting in 2008. Back then the Forum,Pantheon,Trevi were FREE. There was NO tourist tax. I love Rome, proposed to my wife in the Cistine Chapel. Trastevre was a quite neighborhood that only Romans knew of. Unfortunately it is over touristed but this Trevi charge is a simple money grap. Toursits are not damaging the fountain at all. They dont walk on it,climb over it
@@colinyoung4290 16 times??? That’s 12 too many! What an abuse! You are the problem! 😡👺
😢😢😢
To me that is a real shame what they are doing. They are destroying a local landmark by putting up that barrier. I guess it’s all about money. I’m really glad we saw it two years ago.
Well, if people had respected the site they wouldn’t have had to.
@@marionhaydon6579 I don’t understand what the people were doing that was so bad to warrant this barrier. When we were there the people were either standing or sitting on the steps taking pictures. That’s the same thing they’re going to allow the people to do but they’re going to charge them to do it. Sounds to me it’s more about money.
@@marthadavey3703 Drunk idiots jumping in the fountain were the last straw. The few ruin it for the many.
@@DaveHepburn-d9w That’s a real shame.
@@lazios I think your reply to me is very uncalled for. When we were in Rome all the locals were so nice and friendly. Not at all like you. I’m glad we never interacted with people like you. Take a chill pill why don’t you. 😂. And by the way most of what you said doesn’t even make sense.
Just ridiculous decision. I’m coming in 7 weeks and with all these fountains being staged .. I couldn’t be more sorry.
You’d think they would have waited to do this work after the Jubilee Year! I hope it’s a financial disaster for the city!
Do you think they’ll be running by the time you go? I’m going in a few weeks as well
@@cookboss4180 I doubt it!
Rome is a human tourist zoo.
It’s ridiculous charging for touristic sites. I wish no one pay to enter
Good😂🎉...I was there 2023 fortunately I got to see. On a serious not, it was about to happen with all the idiots disrespecting these sites. When l was there, couple of people were tossing food in the fountain...and l was not surprised they were 🇺🇲🇺🇲. Good for Rome lock up everything my respects 🎉
This is totally outrageous, now even the to see the Trevi Fountain you have to pay.But are they going to let the people take a dip in the fountain now that they have to pay?
This is pitiful. Absolutely pitiful. People come thousands of miles only to be baricaded out. So glad we went last year! What next? Very sad.😢
Are romans okay with this? It’s not putting a good light on the town.
Not worth throwing money in there
I’ve always loved your channel, but I’m kind of surprised that you’re spreading misinformation. Everyone’s aware that it’s a barrier to keep people away while they do their restoration work and it’s gonna be gone by the end of the year. Know the facts.
And why didn't you Google it my friend?
@@ppodoentbeast you are totally right
Non siate tristi, cari turisti stranieri vi sono sempre le dolomiti li potete ancora circolare liberamente in infradito e bermuda 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
bad idea...
