@@AlexMarkTravel Exactly. I do that. I also alternate between salt, pepper, chopped onions, garlic, cinnamon or sugar...depending on how I feel. On its own lard has no taste. I will also fry eggs and bacon or ham in melted lard, and finish it off with some good bread. I haven't seen a doctor since my childhood vaccinations ended.
@@samkitty5894 Good point with everything you said. In my childhood that was one of must eat foods for me as well. Nowadays I can't get homemade lard, and I don't trust the industrial one. All-time classic is the homemade bread, hot and then done with lard, a bit of salt, and paprika. 😋

The pizza in this clip iz Napoli style and not so easy to find everywhere in Rome because they preserve their own style but overall, any kind of food in either Rome or rest of Italy is outstanding. Good job filming it!

Watching this video makes me miss Italy. I lived in Gaeta for 3 yrs., there was this tiny hole in the wall pizza place in Gaeta that my family would go to often ( Umbertos) he had the best pizza. Great now my mouth is watering.

I am a non-Roman who has travelled to many parts of the world. I can confirm that even in Italy, Rome is very much second to Florence in terms of beauty and in terms of food it is behind both Tuscany and Campania. I won't even go into detail about how the best Italian food compares to the rest of the world...that really goes into personal taste. But in my own opinion...the food I have eaten in Spain - especially San Sebastian and Sevilla - are better than anything I have eaten in Italy. And dishes I have tried in Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam eclipse what Italy offers.
@randyschwaggins as someone who has lived both in Spain and Italy. Eating out, Spain has by far better food. At home, Italian food is the best. The problem of Italy is that everywhere in restaurants they make the same dished marketed as "Italian cuisine". Italians also don't like to eat at restaurants what they prepare at home. Spain on the other side has great dishes available in bars and restaurants and its also cheaper. Real Italian food changes drastically according to the province, it's a very vast cuisine, but you can't taste these dishes unless you're a guest of some Italian person
If you're in Rome, then you should dine at Alessio. This restaurant has a great menu, great food, and great service. My wife and I have dined there many times and have always had an excellent experience.

To my tastes the thin crust pizza is the way to go, though an American Chicago Deep dish pizza rocks too. Almost any Pasta dish works for me! Gelato isn't my thing anymore, if I'm super day one hot a day a slushie works for me.

I've been eating bread with layer of lard on top for 60 years now. It's my favorite lunch.

I tried authentic italian pizza a week ago and is soo much better than Dominos, Little Ceasars, etc. I can't wait to try on Italy!
Once you switch to real Italian pizzas, that's it. All the other variants, versions, called "pizzas", are just off the list anymore.
That is true! I had Neapolitan pizzas in Switzerland, and now I don’t want any other fake pizza. I’m American but wish I lived in Europe.
