In CupCat, I preffere the Effect "Luminance" with Filters:30 - Strength: 60 - Rotate: 0 Settings. It looks more realistic and with the Glow Effect, you only can set the Strength.

The bloom effect can also be achieved by adding "luminance" effect and "soft". They should show up if you search for it. Luminance works better because it only adds bloom to highlights and you have greater adjustment like size, and strength

Thanks for the great video! You can also get a similar effect using the glow node in the free version of DaVinci. Although it isn't as targeted as halation and has the additional effect of imparting a slight tone curve to your image, which could be good or bad depending on what you are going for. Another thing you can try doing is placing your halation or glow node before your rec.709 conversion LUT. It gives a better roll off in the highlights because it's working in a log color space (I'm assuming you are shooting in either HLG or some flavour of LOG).

for me I use light rays and play with the sliders to get the glow effect.
