- Finally, we managed to get away for our first trip of 2024 in our Buddy.
We found a great overnight parkup but, although the scenery was...here's that word again...AMAZING. our recently purchased sleeping bags WERE NOT!

What a interesting find and stunning views .😍 Those scones look delicious 😋
Yes and totally by accident. The scones were indeed delicious 🙂🐕🚙
Congratulations on the arrival of your first great grandchild 🎉 Coldstones Cut looks amazing. Definitely on our to do list. Looking forward to seeing Grassington too 🙂👍
Thanks. She's so cute. Coldstones Cut was an accidental find and pleased we decided to take a look. 🙂🐕🚙
Living full time in a car with no heating I’ve just bought a vango night star 350, I’m not a fan of mummy style bags but it has made a difference on the coldest nights as I’m in Scotland exploring at the moment
Wishing you all the best. It's so much harder in winter. It was totally my fault. Bernie picked a vango, but I liked this one better. We've always had mummy bags. Much warmer. 🙂🐕🚙
Never good at night if you’re old. We have sleeping bags that we have had over 20 years and they are still the warmest ones we’ve got. Take care Gill
The old ones seem to be the best. 🙂🐕🚙
Dear Tina and Bernie, nice to see you on a new adventure!
We have two sets of sleeping bags, a light one for summer and a thicker one for cold temperatures with down inside ( I have mine since 45 years) and with both together ( one in the other) it has always been cosy and warm enough.
Thanks. Good to be back.
That's now our thinking. Our old winter bags have served us well in even colder temperatures. So we'll keep these and use the new ones for the shoulder months 🙂🐕🚙
Great episode and well done for enduring -4 - I think at that level your into different type of gear I suspect - do you have a heater in the van ? Can’t remember
Loving the sculpture and quarrying shots as much as it’s destructive there was a beauty to it
Hi guys. Thanks.
Our original sleeping bags have always protected us previously at temperatures down to -6.
We have a small oil filled radiator for use on EHU
nothing for longterm heating offgrid.
We do have an 800w Ecoflow, so can get quick blasts of heat with a plug fan heater, but it won't power the oil filled radiator overnight.
Once in the bags (well normally) were fine.
Getting up in the morning, however!!!🙃🐕🚙
Great guys. Get yourselves a 12v electric blanket or shawl . We have experienced freezing nights in tents. Too old now. You are both very brave. Ps Dogs make good sleeping partners when it's cold. 😂 Happy Adventures from old uns 👫👧🤠❤️
Thank you. To be honest in our old bags, we've stayed overnight in lower temperatures. Just these not up to it. Blue has been known to get right inside my bag. Don't know how he doesn't suffocate 😁🐕🚙
Great to see you both out and about. We are still awaiting our new bed and can't wait to get out again
Thanks. Looking forward to seeing the new setup 🙂🐕🚙
Nice to see you back 😊
Thanks. Just a short one 🙂🐕🚙
Nice episode. We are about your calendar ages too. Our bulky winter bags are rated -6 C, our a bit less bulky summer ones 0 C. The way they perform, depends a lot on how windy it is outside, even when in a closed car. When we expect cold, we would even start the night with one, or even two fleeces on top. Having a heavy, high proteine meal before sleeping, will help to stay warm too. An open sky will make you feel even more cold at night. Lucky you survived! 😊
Hi. Thank you and for the advice. Our old bags are very good, just old. Yes, there's a definite draft through the car vents when its windy and we didn't eat properly either.🙂🐕🚙
Lovely video.nice to see you,out and about again .Take it steady x
Thank you. Thanks for coming along 🙂🐕🚙
Crikey you are tough cookies, not managed to get out myself yet due to a twisted knee which makes scrambling around in my Berlingo a bit awkward at the moment (but it is slowly improving)hopefully ready for the sunshine(one lives in hope) I noticed you have wind deflectors on yours and wondered where and what price you paid,i have looked them up and the prices vary a lot. Really hope to meet up with you youngsters somrtime soon(i am a young 76)
Thanks it was difficult when Bernie had his knee replacement. Getting into a sleeping bag and like you say crawling around when you can't bend your knee.
Our wind defectors are Climair ones.www.climairuk.com/citroen-berlingo-mk2-2008-2018-including-xtr-multispace-and-peugeot-partner-2008-2018.html
And they work well at keeping down condensation.
Hope you get out and about very soon. 🙂🐕🚙
Hi,nice to see you out and about, not managed it myself yet,but hopefully before end of month, you are a real inspiration to get out their. Was wondering what make your drone is and would you buy it again! Hope to see you on my travels sometime😀
Hi. Thanks. It's nice to ge back out and about and we hope you're back out yourself very soon. The drone is a DJI Mini 2. Not had time or more importantly weather and confidence to really test ot out but its very highly recommended by many 🙂🐕🚙
Great video, thank you
Thank you 🙂🐕🚙
Love your videos ❤ and congrats on the new grandchild
Thank you. Luna is our first great grandchild. Officially old now we guess lol 😆 🐕🚙
@@the-other-windsors you put the young ones to shame with your escapades 🤣
@@andyttfn We'll keep on as long as physically possible. You need to live life to the best you can. Especially when you have more life behind than in front 🙃🐕🚙
I invested in Nature Hike CWZ400 sleeping bag great piece of kit! Never heard of Coldstones Cut , but looks a interesting place to visit 🙂🙂
Thanks. Invested in.. sounds expensive, but we'll look it up. No. We'd hadn't either. If we hadn't seen the wee brown sign. Guess we never would. 🙂🐕🚙
Great video as always, love your choice in music too! Be great if you could let me know who you use, thanks x
Thank you. Sorry rushed this one and forgot to add music credit. I'll correct that. We choose our music from an app called Artlist. That way we avoid any copyright claims.🙂🐕🚙
@@the-other-windsorsgreat thank you for the reply! Love your adventures very inspiring.
I can’t really have a sleeping bag as I need the loo a lot in the night . So I have fleeces and hot water bottles in the caravan. Husband has my old sleeping bag it’s great nearly 40 years old. He loves it.if we go to Stump Cross Caves there’s no point camping , we just go for the drive out.
WOW..40 years old!! That's some going!😲🐕🚙
Ooh braver than me, I’d need a heater 😂 may I ask about the black box on your roof? Do you show it in any of your vids where I can see how it’s attached etc? Many thanks for all your lovely adventures 😊
Hi. It was one of the cold ones but, we've been out in lower temperatures. Not pleasant this time with the new bags. Lesson learned lol. The black box is really a gun box. It's only 6 inches deep but enough to store. Chairs, table, tripod and wee just in case things. We haven't yet put a video up about it. It's fastened to the cross rails with steel u bolts. Thanks for reminding us to get that footage done and thanks for watching.
@@the-other-windsors will look forward to that as it looks the perfect size for what I’d need. I have a fan on the roof of my little camper so not enough room for a proper roof box. Thank you for your reply, happy travels ☺️
And to you too 😊🐕🚙
very brave goose down blankets used by the army are toasty in a bivvy bag on a mountain i was alot younger mind bit bulky but very efficient still use mine 30 years old maybe more built like a whippet i suffer in cold but i didnt using that blanket, army surplus maybe online today when i worked away i always kipped in van using that blanket i always slept well never suffered
Hi Sam. Thanks for the tip. Not heard of those. We will have a hunt around online. Only issue is, its another item to find a spot for in our wee van. Trust us, every corner has things stuffed into them! 🙃🐕🚙
its a sleeping bag just replace your current ones with them ,my peugeot partner has been broken down since november they cant fix it peugeot garage so my micro camper days are over im changing it when they actually mend it ? shame nice to drive economical but too much tech makes em a problem it shouldn't be that hard but obviously it is
So sorry to hear that. Its a real shame. 😢🐕🚙
its there attitude as well, not interested unforgivable, so im looking at alternate options 5 months and no sign of being sorted really is shocking @@the-other-windsors
Too much of that these days 😢🐕🚙
Oh! There he is! 😅
Talking of wildlife, perhaps you should have got an Otter sleeping bag?
Not heard of those. Will have to look them up 🤔🐕🚙
@@the-other-windsors, we were there the other week! Didn’t Bernie try and ride the bike? (‘Just for the weekend van life’) part of a three part series visiting Malham.
We have the joy of a diesel heater - game changer! Fits under the front passenger seat! But I’m not sure if it would fit with your swivelling seat?
@@jamesbrook16 Now getting his new knee over that bike...impossible me thinks lol.
Yes, we have heard that people fit them under the seat, but as you say, no space now with swivel seat. 😪🐕🚙
@@the-other-windsors, I must admit it’s more effort to ‘get a leg over’ these days!! I managed, but there was quite a bit of grunting in the process!
@jamesbrook16 🤣🤣🤣
Loved the video, but we find it hard to hear you clearly when you're talking in the van ( not sure if there's anything you can do about it) Congratulations on the arrival of Luna
Hi. It's my fault totally. I'd packed my bag with the microphones in the bench underneath Blue. So it wasn't easy to get to them once we all got in the car. That was the whole point if getting them in the first place. Put it down to those old brain cells and thanks Luna's a wee poppet 🙂🐕🚙
You can get electric blanket that runs off a phone brick 😊
Thanks for the suggestion. Honestly, with our old bags. No extra needed. 🙂🐕🚙
Where's blue? 😮
Was going to say..he is there lol 😆 🐕🚙
