Some might call it a lack of planning, some might call it living in the moment, but whatever it is, it makes for a great adventure and a good watch. Ride safe, Freddie.
What i like best about your channel is the reality of it it isn't all 5 star hotels and 20k trips you talk about cheap hotels.messing up and having to pin the ears back to get to your next destination and just slamming a coffee and a sandwich before hitting the road again.but these a things all us average joes have been through and will go through as on our next one it is all part of the adventure and refreshing to watch
100%, these adventures are so relevant to most riders. I don’t mind videos of riders spending 3 weeks on a new Goldwing touring the Alps, but will never be in reach for many people. Keep up the top work Freddie, it’s doing the UK much needed justice
Absolutely stunning. I need to get over there. I don’t understand how you travel with so little gear in such dreadful weather. Btw, Monica knocked this one out of the park. Impeccable editing and music selection.
@FreddieDobbs and if it makes you feel better my record is i ended in the wrong town 40 klms away because i thought i knew for sure where i was going and i was just enjoying the winding roads to much to stop and look lol
I was born in Yorkshire, growing up my Dad would always say when people ask you were you’re from he would say I was born in Yorkshire. He was such a proud Yorkshireman, I ended up joint the Army way back in 1986 and served in the Prince of Wales own Regiment of Yorkshire. Such a special place in England. I now live in Canada but miss Yorkshire dearly.
„visibility 80m or so - I can see the beauty through all of the mist and the rain“ hahah love it. You never lose your enthusiasm. Keep it up. Greetings from Berlin
Great to see you passing within a couple of miles of my home. You must come again in summer. I’d be delighted to help with accommodation suggestions/ routes and even better provide a lunch stop. Look forward to the next episode
The amount of effort you put into showing us this beautiful area of England is very much appreciated, and I can't thank you enough. Somehow, the rainy weather enhanced the look of these gorgeous villages you visited. A Freddie Dobbs travel video never disappoints!
As a Yorkshireman I feel blessed as a motorcyclist that I live here and get to ride so many great roads that are basically on my doorstep. However fair play doing buttertubs in that weather.
Great fun to watch this Freddie - I’m sure we’ve all been caught in miserable weather when out on our bikes and it really has little to recommend it, so your relentless enthusiasm in the face of adversity is brilliant to watch…keep them coming!
Immense filming Freddie . Even when you were low on fuel you still set up your camera as you rode off down the road . Then obviously you had to come back . again to pick up the camera. Im loving this trip well done Freddie . 🏍️
This was amazing as usual! What I liked the most: The first accomodation. You almost ran out of gas despite riding a modern machine equipped with self-cancelling indicators, but not self-filling fuel tank. The places you stopped by were awesome. Riding in wet weather is a totally different experience. When you approached the rundown fuel pump and discovered one of your favourite cars in the workshop. In your final speech, the two copper plates on the wall aligned in such a way that you looked like Mickey Mouse. The tea set at the end.
I couldn’t believe there was an old Defender being worked on in that old petrol station- it was like a scene from an old film👌🏻 I also still didn’t find a fuel range indicator😳
My word Freddie. This has to be one of the best videos you have done. From the atmospheric scenery, camera settings and music it was enthralling. It seemed to capture something magical about solo-motorcycling. Well done. And as a Yorkshireman might say ‘It were bloody grand lad!’ 👍 Dave K (R100rs Motorsport) Chester UK
It's not lost on me how lucky I am living only 30mins from the Yorkshire Dales, plenty of superb roads with amazing views. Hope you can enjoy some clearer weather now
Yorkshire is an amazing county with so much diversity in scenery from the Dales, North Yorkshire Moors, Coastline, Vale of York, .... The weather in winter however can be pretty miserable.
Addicted to your channel Freddie, there is something about you that does what nothing can do and that is relax me and watch your journey's, I wish you would put a road description in the comments as I would love to give them roads a go. More of this type of riding is a must
Freddie. Loving this series with the TransAlp. Any chance you can grab maps and show us where you are going so you can take us with you? I’d love to see where you go in a map so I can be there with you in my mind as I watch. Same as Itchy Boots does. Cheers. Captain.
I've ridden motorcycles for 56 years. I wish they were like the places you've visited. All my years have been around where I live. Your shows are very entertaining, and I appreciate you bringing the sights and scenes to us. It allows us to dream that someday we can go there too. Being on a bike is so much more enjoyable. It's man and machine...sights, sounds, smells of flowers and the valleys and fresh cool air...
Yorkshire is gods own country. It's what it means to 'close your eyes and think of England'. Underneath the trickling raindrops and gloomy skies rests a vast, picturesque landscape that calls you home. Thanks for reminding me of why I love the place so, so much. Ride safe.
Driving on those roads in the fog and dark and following the verge is tricky when the verge disappears ( into a farmyard or opening) glad you made it back to the hotel for a heat up. The filming and editing is fantastic , I can see Honda getting a few Transalp sales from you sharing this trip.
The triangle of Lakes, Dales Pennines is an absolute Mecca for great roads, scenery and people which was one reason we bought there! The Ribblehead to Hawes was one of my favourite, mid week!
Great video Freddie, I rode a motorcycle every day for 34 years didn't own a car. Didn't learn to drive a car till I was 27 when I moved to the states...no public transport, drove the car for two weeks and then brought a transalp. I posted the other day I sold it for more than I paid. I don't ride in the winter any more they put down to much salt up here in the mtn's and I have some really nice bikes...Thruxton 1200R is my favorite it's British racing green there is only 100 in the states and I scored a 2019 for $300 over dealer cost.
Great to see you living in the moment Freddie, don't worry about the OMG moment with the fuel it happens to all is who tour regularly , it's all part of the adventure, as for riding in the Dales, it's always an awesome experience even in winter.
Freddie thank you for taking us through some of the most scenic English countryside! I discovered your channel because of your Royal Enfield reviews and I really hope you get to travel here to India and ride on some of our best roads! Love from India🇮🇳
Ohh Freddie, always leaving it to the last minute. Filming, editing & a touch of Monika’s magic turns any journey into an epic adventure! Ride safe & afterwards your final review of the Transalp will be rewarding!⭐️
Your solo road trips are my favourite part of channel. All your contents great but Barcelona, Africa and this are very inspiring and fun to watch. If everything went to plan it would t be an adventure!
That was absolutely incredible! The old stone and timber buildings and open roads. I never pictured England as having that much open area. Thank you for the ride and beautiful filming!
Where you were at Kettlewell, you were about 4 miles from the start of one of the very best roads up there - through Hawkswick towards Halton Gill and through to Stainforth. Admittedly it's better from the Stainforth end going dowhill rather than up, but it's bloody glorious and beats the Buttertubs by miles if you ask me.
That was epic! Well done for surviving in proper Yorkshire weather. If you check out the foggy Yorkshire Dales scenes in the classic film "American Werewolf in London" you will see that you may have had a narrow escape...😲
A great shame about the weather Freddie, you missed some of the finest scenery in the North of England with the blanket mist, especially on The Buttertubs Pass ( The story goes that as farmers rested at the top of the climb on a hot day - on route to the market in Hawes -they would lower the butter they had produced for sale into the potholes to keep it cool.) A great time to tour The Dales off season, to avoid the summer tourists. Thankfully the weather is not always like that.
So pleased I live less than 50 miles from the Dales, cannot wait to get my bike license. 44 years old in 2 weeks and finally decided to do it. Thank you for an excellent video
I love the Yorkshire Dales. Just a suggestion Freddy. They mostly speak English, and almost all use vehicles that need petrol or diesel. All you needed to do was ask where the nearest petrol station is.
I can relate to you Freddie ! I believe Life is all about happiness in small things. And its so wonderful to see that there are more like us out there who value simplicity ! ❤ More Power to You ! 🙏🏼
WRT fuel, and not knowing. The beauty with motorbikes is that in most cases, you can physically check the fuel tank to see how much is sloshing around in there, by just opening the filler cap, and have a little look, visually. Sometimes, the most obvious solution is the last considered. (I learned this the hard way, shamefully on more than one occasion) great series so far Fred! Love the the Yorkshire dale's!
Just incredible 😄One bit that made me laugh was you riding off into the distance, camera left behind filming B-roll, after you'd just explained how you had very little petrol 😆So still had to go back and fetch the camera you'd left set up 👍🏻Loving the trip. I may need to take the S3 up the Dales, I really must go. Cheers Freddie 🍻
I am living vicariously through you and your adventures, Freddie....Fog sucks on top of rain and wind, let alone when riding one of the most scenic but dangerous roads in the UK. Ride safe, keep fuelled up, and show us more. 😊
Thanks for your videos. You make it all so accessible to the viewer - meaning I can easily see myself riding those roads, eating where you eat, staying where you stay even though I'm halfway around the world in Texas. I like that the music is contemplative in nature and not intrusive, and that you let the camera "do the talking" showing the villages and country views without excessive talk. I would never go out to ride in those conditions, especially getting caught out after dark in the cold and wet, and I hope you will not do that going forward. Good safe riding, Freddie. I eagerly await the next Yorkshire video and hope for better weather.
Absolutely stunning place for riding. It's such a shame about the weather. I hope you return again and see it in all its glory. Amazing video as always.
Well done you for navigating your way across the Butternut Pass in the depths of winter after dark. Just the thought of that last leg scares me. You made me laugh at the idea of pulling up at the side of the road to wait it out to sunrise. I bet there’s a Darwin Award story in there somewhere too.
G'Day from Australia. Enjoy your rides and filming and all the work that goes into post production! Hope you get to travel to Australia one day! (Go the cooler months. Weather is horrible right now😢)
I am an ex-pat Yorkshireman living in Berkshire. I love the Dales, but your appreciation of the sights has made me look at the area with fresh eyes. Thanks for the video - in fact, thanks for all of them! One of my favourite channels 😀
Great video as always. I live around here (Harrogate) so lots of the roads were familiar. I thought when you got to Buttertubs the worst was over because if you’d carried on you get to lots of small villages with pubs, but it looks like you came all the way back over Fleet Moss to near Grassington! That’s brave in that weather!
Which all goes to show that the old biker’s maxim of filling up with gas at the end of each ride is a wise one. A lovely video Freddie and welcome to God’s country 😀😀
Thanks Freddie.. The Buttertubs Pass is beautiful, you should try it in the summer.. Its amazing.. I worry about the time you stop doing all of this.. It's seriously enjoyable..😉
Lovely video. Very brave riding up north in winter. Here is a tip for you. You should download the offline Google maps for the areas you travel to. Then you don't need a phone signal. Your phone has GPS which Google maps will use.
I’ve watched a couple of your road trip videos and there seems to be two common denominators, lack of preparation, and the quest for food! Both of which must increase your stress levels but for a viewer makes for some really entertaining videos! Love your attitude towards bikes and life itself, keep it up because what you do is really valuable.
Another wonderful video Freddie. I live in York and am lucky to have the Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors, and Howardian Hills on my doorstep. I frequently take my Aprilia Tuareg on these same roads. At 7:54 on the video, you are parked outside Yockenthwaite Farm in Langstrothdale, which is the filming location for Helen's farm 'Heston Grange' on All Creatures Great and Small. The road past the farm is one of my favorites in the Dales and I much prefer it to Buttertubs Pass. Don't get me wrong, Buttertubs is a great road but I think there are more picturesque roads in the Dales.
I wondered if anyone else was going to pick up on that! I'm from the States, and I recognized the " Alderson’s farm" location in Yockenthwaite instantly!
Keeping it real Freddie, love it. Reminds me of the time i tried to ride to work in snow and ice . Visor open as it would fog up within seconds, the snow built up around my face up to my eyelids , I knew then it was time to head back.
I find it fascinating that we think of £50-£70 Pub B&B as “great value”. We used to book a double room in a Pub for £15-20. Not that long ago either, well 20 years or so😊
One of your best videos yet! You two make a great team. The shots of the water, the golden rays of morning sunshine on the building, the music, the entire chill vibe. Just awesome. You two should vacation in America, rent a HD and tour route 66. Travel from the Florida Keys to California. Seriously.
Buttertub pass is a stones throw away from a beautiful town called Hawes. Also a smaller village Gayle nearby. Spent some nights there last summer on my road trip. I used my Land Rover on the trip. Peaceful and stunning part of our gorgeous country.
I gave you a thumbs up before I started watching the video, because I knew I was going to like it. I think I recognised the garage you stopped at that didn’t have petrol. Was it Ketttlewell? I think you must have gone through Buckden, where I like to stay when I’m in that area. Great video Freddie! Looking forward to the next one.
Very enjoyable, thank you for posting. It goes to show that you don't have to "tear ar*e about" to have a pleasurably gratifying ride, just enjoy the scenery, and arrive home in the same condition you left. Stay safe, regards.
Lovely video, sir. Just the perfect thing for a quiet, Sunday morning. Being an American, every time I see you pull off the road, to the right, I fear you’ll be struck by a passing vehicle. I have to quickly remind myself it’s the UK every time. You’d think by now I’d have seen enough British road videos to be used to it🤣
You're a trooper - mad respect for getting through that scary last part of the ride. It can be gruesome! Wonderful roads, very few cars, the promise/hint of amazing scenery just beyond the fog/mist and the lovely hospitality of the north! The low-fuel-in-the-middle-of-nowhere thing also hit close to home! Happened to me in Scotland in September in very sparsely populated area I didn't know, and drove around for over an hour in second gear trying to reach the only hope of petrol! Made it and what a joyous feeling that was! The joys, the emotional rollercoaster that is biking!
Been years since I've been back up to Yorkshire. The old garage I'm sure was in Kettlewell, the two brothers, who used to own it were , if i remember correctly, motorcycle racers. They used to allow me to camp, in what was a little carpark opposite that they owned. Absolutely stunning area.
Nice film Freddie, you inspired me to buy a Continental GT650, thanks for coming up to Yorkshire, riding in my back yard, come back when the forecast is good. It’s stunning riding country. All the best lad 👏🏻👍
Welcome to Yorkshire Freddie, loving this series, you need to see Buttertubs in clear weather the views are beyond stunning, although it can get very busy in summer.
Kudos to you Freddie you never stop making me chuckle to myself when it comes to planning (am talking about nearly running out of fuel!) you remind me of ME lol! At least you always put your hand up & admit to things & that’s what makes your videos so interesting! Thanks for showing us the wonderful villages they look so great even in the rain & yes buttermere is a beautiful area last up there about 10yrs ago thanks to your video am planning on a bike trip back up there I HEAR THE CALL!
I was on that magnificent road from Buckden to Hawes yesterday Freddie. Stopped next to the farm you did. I kept stopping en route. Didn't get anywhere fast. That's the Dales for you. The views are amazing. Great vid. 👍🏻
Great video Freddie, it’s nice up north aint it? I used to live down south and moved up to North Yorkshire to work as a paramedic, I have a lovely farmhouse Airbnb between the dales and the moors. I never take it for granted how lucky I am to be able to ride my Tiger 900 over those wonderful roads. Come up in the summer, it’s absolutely stunning. If you come up again then try the George inn at Hubberholme in wharfedale.
Apologies if it has already been mentioned, but my two Hondas (CBR500R & NC750S) have a flashing bar on the fuel indicator, to show when you have less than 3 litres of fuel left. I presume most Honda bikes are the same.
Hi Freddie, another great video, this time from my beloved Yorkshire Dales! The guy who runs the Kettlewell Garage is a great guy, did you get to speak with him? Riding along those roads in the dark and fog must have been really hairy, it was like that over New Year but luckily I was in a car! You must go back in the spring or summer though, to experience the true beauty of the place.
Was away with my dad and some mates this weekend in the Lakes and headed over to Buttertub on the way home thanks to your video this morning Freddie. Great reccomendation. Linked it in with the B6255 down past the Ribblehead viaduct, and then the forest of Bowland down to Clitheroe. Some brilliant roads around Yorkshire. Keep up the great videos!
Good video Freddie. Ya got to love the fact that you rode the most beautiful road on England in heavy rain and fog. But that’s what makes your channel so dam fun. I got to tell ya, the Transalp is just kinda awesome. I don’t know if it’s because it looks like an old classic bike from the 80’s, the ones that I remember as a kid. Or the cool gold rims. I am not an adv guy by any means. But if I was. A set of soft bags and a Transalp would be what I’d be getting .
The B6160 is a splendid road, Grassington to Newbiggin, and on your doorstop at the Tennant Arms. Worth a ride to the Street Head Inn [great food], and Aysgarth falls. The 'Bingley Wheeler' rode along that way not so long ago.
I know the feeling... reminded me of riding in southern Colorado, on the way to N.Mexico, when the sky opened up delivering hail the size of golf balls, and where i could not see the road, but judged it by the fences along side of it.. I was much younger then in 1992.. on a Transalp 600 in those days.. Loved that bike and still regret having had sold it. I rode through Yorkshire in 1969.. I am sure it is much different now.. Enjoyed your video Freddie..
I have been asked, now and then, over the years, why I ride a bike. It’s not that easy to portray it in a meaningful way, but this just about sums it up… if it could be put into words. God , I could do with some of that right now 😊
well done.....had concerns about the weather pulling in and the darkness but very relieved you made it !! take care .. look forward to the next update .
I had same fog out returning early morning after a few days green laning in dales and agree, most sketchy bike ride i have done in 35 years. Best green lanes though.
Freddie, always reset your trip meter to zero every time you fill up you'll get to know your bikes limit. As we know riding a bike is good for lowering blood pressure, de-stressing , therapy...watching your vlog is just as rewarding as actually riding..the Transalp suits you.
Freddy, I live in a small village in Yorkshire called Slaithwaite aka Slawit and it looks very much like most of where you went on your little jaunt. It was good to see you had nice weather too. We like a bit of bracing rain up here in't North, it's good for the soul, apparently! 70 mph through 20 metres of fog probably wasn't one of your best moves, but hey ho, that's us bikers. Anyways, welcome to Gods own county, love................
Some might call it a lack of planning, some might call it living in the moment, but whatever it is, it makes for a great adventure and a good watch. Ride safe, Freddie.
Lost without Monica , we now know who plans the trips 😂

Beautifully shot and edited Freddie, as always. And great storytelling. Thanks for sharing your trip. ❤ Yorshire.
Really glad you enjoyed it, thanks Richy
Love the fact you don't go on sponsored organised trips. Hope you keep it like this.
Totally agree. Some get lost in the glory and loose the content forever. ✨️
It just goes to show, once you are out of the cities England is a really beautiful country.
Kettlewell, Grassington and the Tennants at Kilnsey Cragg and Buttertubs! Good choices!
As a Yorkshireman I feel blessed as a motorcyclist that I live here and get to ride so many great roads that are basically on my doorstep. However fair play doing buttertubs in that weather.
Ahh Freddie, your Videos always come at best possible moment to cheer us up. Thank you!

Immense filming Freddie . Even when you were low on fuel you still set up your camera as you rode off down the road . Then obviously you had to come back .
again to pick up the camera.
Im loving this trip well done Freddie . 🏍️
I love the little village with all the rustic shops. looked really cozy. ❤
Freddie on trips like this you need to download the offline maps or go old school with a sat nav.
Never worry about fuel, food or location ever again.

I can't un-see the Mickey Mouse thing now!

It would have made the video less exciting though.

The fog was a serious challenge even for Freddie! So well done❤
Not that long ago either, well 20 years or so😊
I remember Pub B&Bs being about 20 quid when me and my uni mates went to Speyside and that was only….oh bother, 15 years ago.
Yep, that’s a “cheap” tent pitch nowadays
very nice intro of the country side in icy cold and wet weather!!. its one of a kind adventure but only you have the guts to go out there like this!!
Delighted you enjoyed it, thanks Jawad🙌🏻
Spot on- it was Kettlewell👌🏻 All of the villages are stunning- stone built everything🖤
Very enjoyable, thank you for posting. It goes to show that you don't have to "tear ar*e about" to have a pleasurably gratifying ride, just enjoy the scenery, and arrive home in the same condition you left. Stay safe, regards.
Glad you like it. My back yard, my playground.🏁👍
I rode that route last summer, and did the same thing with fuel! It looks stunning in winter as well, enjoy.
Relaxing watch, lovely riding when the roads are so quiet, even though it may wet and overcast. I need to get out for a road trip, very inspiring.
Believe Dave Bickers use to keep a Greaves there so he could just turn up and ride the trails.
It is indeed the Kettlewell Garage. The sign is very faded, but if you pause the video when he's parked out front, it is legible.
Some great photography in this one Freddie! Monika is rubbing off on you.
Glad you made it back safe.
Enjoyed watching - fantastic destinations - seeing the history in the buildings - seemed like time travel. Presentation was spot on. Safe travels.
If you come up again then try the George inn at Hubberholme in wharfedale.
what kind and thoughtful viewers you appeal too Freddie ..your comment section is mostly always positive
Apologies if it has already been mentioned, but my two Hondas (CBR500R & NC750S) have a flashing bar on the fuel indicator, to show when you have less than 3 litres of fuel left. I presume most Honda bikes are the same.
Love the music as you’re riding to the buttertub pass.
Beautifully edited, Freddie knows how to edit his videos and also has a great taste in music. Truly enjoyed this video. Ride safe mate!
I always assumed Monica does the editing?
@@banzobeans , I don't think Monica travels with him in every trip.
If I may say so...Freddie, this is one of your best, love the way you make this documentary work !
Mesmerizing... couldn't be more proper than this. Perfect.❤
I'm amazed at the number of stone buildings! Lovely historical landscape!
WOW....nice old SRX! I almost bought one of them once.
Freddie, always reset your trip meter to zero every time you fill up you'll get to know your bikes limit.
As we know riding a bike is good for lowering blood pressure, de-stressing , therapy...watching your vlog is just as rewarding as actually riding..the Transalp suits you.
A quad lock is ok for a second device but as you just found out you cannot rely on a phone when touring a proper sat nav is essential
👍
You’re storing memories which will last a lifetime. Good work mate 😊
Love Slawit!!!
