Hello, Most flannel shirts are either work shirts or look best when worn in rural areas. I'm looking for an "urban flannel shirt." What are the Japanese flannel brands with the following. I would like to find a flannel shirt that has all five of these qualities if possible. Perhaps too there are artisans that make custom flannel shirts: 1) Soft gauze 2) Slub flannel 3) Narrow spread collars 4) Either one flat pocket or no pocket 5) Stealthy, elegant, captivating plaids Thank you.
Another Japan brand with good flannels shirts, it’s UES. They have great reviews and nice designs. I bought this year also a shirt from Freenote cloth (us brand) and they are really awesome. But IH flannels are at the top even it’s high price range. Thanks for you review!
Hi!! your are right UES made good quality heavy flannels regretably none caught my eye. From Freenote cloth I got a pair of selvedge jeans (Avila fit) 14 oz very nice. From UK is not easy to buy from them because the tax make the product to expensive. Thank you for watching and comment
Peter Millar's Japanese flannels are super nice shirts too. I have 2 of them and other than having to hand wash which feels a bit extra, I love everything about these flannels.
Id looked at getting a The Flat Head flannel in the past, but noticed they just dont go up to my size( 48chest) i ended up getting 2 UES heavyweight flannels.
Size numbers are so confusing. In my world a size 44 (chest) is a large, a 46-48 is an XL and a 50-52 is XXL. A 46R USA suit in EU is called size 56. Someone make it all make sense. Ugh.
Buying a heavy flannel in a western cut never made any sense to me. Westerns are made tight in the waist as they are supposed to be tucked in. Who tucks a heavy flannel..?
Well, I tucked in the western flannel when is necessary for the outfit and is Ok to me, all depend how you want to wear it, some people like wear untucked and is OK too, I think is very personal decision and there is no wrong way in my IMHO.
Traditional western shirts are tapered in the waist and does effect fit. It's what designers call "athletic fit" today. Broad shoulders and little waist. Flathead seems to do traditional patterns without regard to modern bodies. Work shirt is squared off where chest and waist nearly match. I wonder what the Iron Heart Western shirt waist measures compared to the others. Seems Iron Heart is more of a work shirt since you didn't mention it beyond saying it's slim fit. I'd suspect Iron Heart takes into account modern body types and adjusts for that in their cuts.
You are absolutely right, but I think the sizing is more orientated to the Japanese market; I tried the larger available size, 44-XXL, and it didn´t work for me. Regarding IH sizing, the waist in the shirt I got (XL) is 22.3 inches, while The Flat Head is 21.5. That difference changes the fitting; while the shoulders and chest are ok, the waist is too slim in the TFH shirt. Iron Heart, in the beginning, has the same problem with the sizing, and they update the pattern, and now it is almost perfect for our body types. Still, the sleeves in the new batches are a bit long. Thank you for watching and commenting!!!

The Japanese size is adapted to Japanese people. That why the number in the size tag do not correspond to the actual measurements of the garments
