  • The Flat Head are back! After a two-year hiatus they have just dropped two new heavyweight selvedge work shirt flannels! These 100% cotton selvedge flannels are woven on shuttle looms and are double brushed for that added luxurious feel.
    My previous video came literally 3 days before The Flat Head dropped their new flannels so thought It would be best to give you a super early look at these.

    I got their new salmon pink western one and it’s pretty amazing. Brushed on the inside, feels about 9 oz. The sizing is crazy and it must have changed even more since you made this video. I normally take a 40 like you, but the 40 was a tad too snug so I had to size UP to a 42. If you haven’t seen the salmon pink check it out, it’s salmon and black check and it goes great with black, grey, green, and khaki trousers. Beautiful flannel and the color is definitely different and surprisingly versatile.

      Hey, did you get this from Self Edge?

    • @IlCaroSassone
      @IlCaroSassone 2 года назад +1

      @@HDalal18 Yes, from Self Edge. I got the 42 which is considered XL. The 40 would have been too tight. The Flat Head sizing is crazy because I’m usually a M. That said I take a L with the Iron Heart UHF. So, I’d DEFINITELY size up!

    Just stumbled upon your channel after going down the rabbit hole of Japanese flannel shirts, and this video was exactly what I was looking for! I live in Tokyo and even here TFH plaid shirts can be quite hard to obtain new, but there is a plentiful supply of second-hand ones. Luckily I was able to pick up a couple - including the blue one you have here - for a decent price.

      Welcome aboard! Thanks for the comment. Always love hearing from people over in Japan. You are a very lucky to live amongst it. TFH shirts are incredible. make sure you visit their store. What other Japanese flannels are you into?

      @@CameronO Thanks for the reply! These are actually the first “proper” flannel shirts I’ve bought so am not sure about other brands as yet. Autumn/winter is usually pretty short here, which is a shame as I miss wearing cold-weather clothing. Japan Blue Jeans tend to have gear at a good sweet spot between price and quality and their shop staff are always great to deal with, though the “short arms” thing is often an issue for me when it comes to shirts here. Saying that, after watching your vid on your t-shirt collection I’m v. interested in picking up some from UES. They looked great.

    thanks for the awesome vid!!! wonder if you have compared the flat head flannels to iron hearts yet. the UES ones that have dropped recently have really intricate patterns and look like they have been built to last! for me the flat head just seem to be a perfect brand

      Hi Edward, I never got to as the flat head ones I have are the old style or the ones they made before they had a hiatus. The green one in this video I recently sold as I just loved my original blue and black ones. These days though I pretty much wear IH or UES flannels mixed in with the old Flat Head. Id love to try the recent Flat Head ones though.

    they get heavier after a few washes. The become 3D-like. It's like they're compressed when first off the line.. not sure why/how..

    Hello! I'm trying to size for one of TFH western shirts. In fact, the one I'm looking at is at Rivet and Hide and you're modeling it, haha.
    Have you noticed any shrinking with these yet after 6 months? Do you air dry or tumble?

    • @CameronO
      @CameronO  3 года назад

      Hey Tim, they are so good. I wanted that one I wore in the photo. So I don't have any of the westerns but i have the work shirts i have do not shrink. I would not tumble dry either. I just dry mine flat, air dry. They are seriously durable and fine to wash and dry normally. Check sizing though. Good luck!

    kind of like the older design better, esp the brushing not going all the way. ;D Do you think the new batch are in any way inferior? Do you have your measurements compared to those online at rivet and hide? I am somewhat concerned about the sleeves length.

    • @CameronO
      @CameronO  3 года назад

      Hey Marko, the new batch seem ok. This is just my opinion when comparing the two, but the older ones feel a bit more well made, I've worn the older ones in harsh conditions across Iceland, on mountains the works and it's just been fantastic. New one seems a bit less weighty. Its super comfortable though. Since this video went out i noticed there is another new version the "Open Collar" shirt. I've not checked or compared these. If you can, try them on. The sleeve thing may just be me, but it's something that I don't notice too much these days.

      @@CameronO thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I am not in London to try them on... I sent mail to check the sizing as I might pull the trigger on. the red one. I am 6.1 so 42 will hopefully be alright. Also, I ve read somewhere, some other review, that older products used to be better, but likely in a "more interesting patterns" kind of way :D

      @@CameronO got the new one from the berlin store Dc4... great service btw. Rivet&Hide was sold out. Shirt is nice, not 250$ nice but hey... I think its like 9oz at most. Got recently the greg shirt from tenue de nimes tenuedenimes.com/collections/mens-new-arrivals/products/greg-indigo ... not brushed, but construction wise more or less the same. Also around 9 oz I would say...
      Next will prob be some of the Iron Heart 10-12oz , but I will prob first try it, it is hard to go by measurements alone. 42 worked for me, but shoulders are a just a bit too wide.

      The old old flat head shirts were amazing.. the new ones. Like this green one. I feel are not as good. IH now (and before) is just consistently amazing. I know they have had issues with the top buttons but tbh all brands have. My green FH flannel from this video I am selling as I do not wear it as much as some of my others like IH, UES etc. If i was to buy a flannel today, it would be IH and UES. (Caveat - i've not tried MANY other brands like Momotaro, 3sixteen, freenote etc.)
