I buy alot of art supplies…and i USE ALL OF THEM…..i have no friends..so I go to work…and come home to my cat and art…and that makes me happy….i stppped buying alot of stuff years ago…like new clothes…i shop consignment now.
This is the third video that you have created resonate so much with my life. When my husband left last December I am making a conscious effort to stop buying these items as well. I am still learning how to survive on one income. At 53 I never lived by myself until now. I don't really consider myself alone with my dog and cat but feel isolated at times. I did not have to worry about money before the narcissist left, whole other story on that. Quite the eye opener.
During the peak subscription box fad I think I tried all of them. It was fun but I ended up with things I didn't need. As I've gotten older, I quit buying a lot of unnecessary items (like decorations and collectables) and started donating things I don't need. I've had to clean out the houses of two family members after they passed and I don't want my kids to have to deal with a lot of my things after I'm gone.
Hi Amy! New subscriber. You video “I have no friends” caught my eye. I too have no friends since moving to SC from IL 10 years ago. My best friends are 900 miles away , one where I grew up in Southern IL, and my college roommate who lives in Chicago area (where I lived and raised my 3 young men and was married for over 25 years)… I am actually ok with it. We talk on the phone , text, and keep up with each others lives. Most people , like myself, aren’t from SC (although my 2nd husband actually is), and have already established their lives and friends as I have. I enjoy many of the same things you do! Books, audiobooks , candles, eating Whole Foods, and living in a warmer climate. I am 61 yrs old and retired. Look forward to your future videos! Wishing you well with all of these hurricanes! 😊💕🏝️
Came here from watching your friend videos which I can 100% relate to - glad to know I'm not alone in this, as it sure has felt like it most of my life. As a lifetime library employee, I'd love to encourage you to start your reading journey at the library and save even more money! You can access digital books/audiobooks for free through your local library system, and if you still love paper, of course we have that too!
I felt the same way you did about walking away from the pumpkin casserole dish at Aldi and Target!😂 I moved in 2023 too and greatly downsized my seasonal decor and books. My weakness is still candles, blankets and home decor but I am trying to have less clutter.
Hi. I just found your channel and I really like your content. By the way that magenta color looks so pretty on you. I’m a new subscriber. God bless you.
I’m no longer going to buy expensive face moisturisers because honestly they don’t work. I only use 100% Tallow or Castor Oil on my face. And my face looks marvellous!
New subscriber! Down with a head cold and you popped up on my feed. I have really enjoyed the content especially the No friend video. I look forward to the future of your channel, you are off to a great start.
My weaknesses are kitchen items, books and inexpensive makeup. I almost never buy clothes or jewelry anymore, and have no interest in redecorating or traveling---had my fill of the aforementioned in my younger years. I avoid going into resale shops because they can become addictive, especially when they're within walking distance. The one by me recently closed up shop and I don't even miss it. Happy to just grocery shop and stop in at Dollar Tree. Certain other items are purchased online.
I found those same pumpkin casserole dishes at our local Aldi’s. I wanted all three colors. I love decorating for the holidays. I can’t get rid of that one off my list. Totally can ditch the K cups. Ditch the diet foods. Keeping my candles. 😅
Wow so glad for you to minimize and stop purchasing unnecessary items. Almost bought another kitchen gadget, l stopped myself and asked myself, do l really need this. 😂
I'm a minimalist too. I have never been able to tolerate clutter. I used to buy cute dish towels & hand towels. But, now I use my old ones over & over. I enjoyed your video & subscribed 😊
I really enjoyed watching your video. S’mores poptarts are one of my weaknesses. Every Fall I buy a lot of bath & body works candles. But- I have bought all white towels for my bathrooms. I agree white is definitely the way to go. 😁
They say you should invest in experiences, but I suffer from health issues and can't go places for fun so material things are important to me when they bring me joy. I will never stop buying books as they are my great love and escapism - and I buy multiples of my favourites. I'm a collector, but practice purging items that are no longer meaningful. Books are my only real splurge (no regrets).
Good video. But…. Amy! (I love Aldi, too, yes the Aisle of Shame🤣) get rid of the fire hazard candles and go back and grab that pumpkin serving piece! Btw, battery candles with the timer and real looking flickering wick are great.
As soon as I figured out that I preferred the anticipation of getting something more than actually physically having it 😂 because, yes... I have way too much stuff >>already
I love candles and buy a lot because I use them daily and actually run out constantly ... Send me you r candles. I also use audiobooks to fall asleep too a life saver. I really need to cut down on clutter too , I am a hoarder. Am living in the same place for 16 years...gathering stuff.OMg I loved subscription boxes, Korean Makeup and skincare and Japanese bokku boxes am reusing the actual box as so pretty.
My big expense is food. With a couple of alergies, avoiding food with those as additives has become more and more expensive over especially the last 10 years. And buying organic and getting a garden in every year and preserving the food grown is an expense.(The supplies needed to do so, etc). My collection is clothes, love to locate peices at resale or other ways, pennies on the dollar, but have pretty much stopped. Love what I have, and have just been purchasing utilitarian clothes to replace the ones that have been wearing out- clothes to garden in, etc. Been downsizing. Have been recently dealing with some loved ones things who have passed, but with recovering from and injury and an illness, its slow going on my own. Im a recent subscriber, your no friends vid caught my eye. Have gone through the exclusion here from a group, and a couple of individuals, I became close to, soon after relocating here to this rural area, and that was hard. I was fortunate to connect with a few other wonderful ppl, but they have passed. Its been tough since my family and they passed all within a few years of each other. I also have a couple of close freinds from my earlier life who live very far away around the country. You are fortunate to still have your family! Research says its harmful to our health to be alone. We are not wired to be alone...but circumstances beyond my control and here I am. I am doing the best that I can but very much miss having loving caring ppl in my daily life to share and experience life with, to meet up with and do fun things together, to celebrate good things with, and to support each other during tough times.
New sub here and I really enjoy your content. I am with you on the list although my beautiful daughter works in publishing and I am lucky enough to be on a list to receive fabulous new hardcovers almost monthly that she reviews! It's wonderful to get these books delivered to my door but they do take up some space. I'm happy to have them though!
I hear ya… And as you get older, you don’t have the energy to put everything out and tear it down again. Putting out an autumn leaf garland or wreath with some real pumpkins can be a minimal decor for fall, Halloween and Thanksgiving. It saves money and time.
I'm proud to say I visited both HomeGoods and TJ Maxx just to see what they had but didn't buy any Halloween decor...didn't buy anything for that matter. I have a $10 reward but am saving that for something I actually need and will use for cooking or my home. Over the past couple of years I did purchase a few cute lighted ghosts, lighted flicking pumpkin candles, and a few other fall decor things...and that's all I need and can fit in my apartment.
Wow!! Great subject 😊 I’ve seen a couple of other videos on this subject of longer buying.😅 I know what I need to stop buying, and have accomplished it. But I know I need to do more or be on the “stop buying trend” 😅 Thank you for this video.
I buy single coffee pods because once I open a bag of ground coffee it stops tasting nice after a couple of weeks, so I save money using individual pods.
Sounds like you have plenty of money to have indulged your passions so much. Be thankful for that. I have to do my hoarding the yard sale / thrift shop way and even the thrift shops have been getting pricy. Everybody is discarding books - except me.
Your honesty & willingness to be vulnerable is very refreshing to me. Thank you!
I buy alot of art supplies…and i USE ALL OF THEM…..i have no friends..so I go to work…and come home to my cat and art…and that makes me happy….i stppped buying alot of stuff years ago…like new clothes…i shop consignment now.
The only downside is the women's clothing prices at Goodwill are too high.
@@amybrownmidlife i bring the store my own clothes that i dont wear, then have store credit..i dont buy that much…a few items a year.

Absolutely - I too don't want my kids to have to deal with a house full of stuff and then suffer from guilt when they throw it away.

Thanks for sharing. I do love my local library. A brand new library is opening next year near me and I'm very excited.
Excellent video!
I felt the same way you did about walking away from the pumpkin casserole dish at Aldi and Target!😂 I moved in 2023 too and greatly downsized my seasonal decor and books. My weakness is still candles, blankets and home decor but I am trying to have less clutter.
Soft, fuzzy throw blankets are my downfall. Thanks for watching

Inexpensive makeup is a weakness for me too.

I will have candles for many years to come from my already huge stash of candles. It's hard to not buy new ones.

Love when I discover a cool item that I forgot I had. Thanks for watching
Good ideas! I would get rid of the candle rule though...
Emmmaaaaaaaaaaaaa

I would love to ship all my candles to you
Paint those cheaper earrings' hooks with clear nail polish and that will stop them from causing discolorations or irritation to your earlibes💕
Great tip!
Great tips!
Glad it was helpful

I have not given up on finding friendship but it seems quite difficult to find.

You nailed it on the head - those items can fit in your apartment. Well done!
I love my reusable k-cups for all the reasons you shared! I recently started using the mini filters for easy clean-up, and i love those as well.😊

I still have a long way to go. I am still getting too many Amazon deliveries.
I buy single coffee pods because once I open a bag of ground coffee it stops tasting nice after a couple of weeks, so I save money using individual pods.
Costco has some good tasting Kirkland brand individual pods. What brand do you buy?
Hi Amy. I’m from Australia and I’m about your age. I can relate to lots that you talk about
Thanks for sharing. Take care
Sounds like you have a plan!! 💛
Looking forward to church friends part 2

Good to know
You are an interesting person
Thank you
Impressive! less is better always :)
Hey girl! : )
I try not to buy books, decorations, kitchen things very often. I love Audible too.
I wish I had discovered Audible earlier. I have no clue why I waited so long.
cheap things suck .. not just in shors thats pretty much everything in life. Otherwise people would be ok living poor
Sounds like you have plenty of money to have indulged your passions so much. Be thankful for that. I have to do my hoarding the yard sale / thrift shop way and even the thrift shops have been getting pricy. Everybody is discarding books - except me.
Yes, the thrift shops have gotten expensive.
