28 with the same exact story with the same feelings 😅 there are worse problems to have! but i’ve always been envious of people who attract friends like a magnet. everybody loves & adores them. i don’t know how to be that person, and wish i knew what “girlhood” was before i get too “old” for it. but i keep praying and hoping!

I am 57 years old, and I have really never gotten along with women, I almost feel like I would identify as a man, because I get along with men a lot better. I find women to be catty and gossipy and judgmental, I live in a small neighborhood with an estranged husband and I was friends with the lady across the street and she abruptly stop talking to me because I have a disability. I’m not even kidding. She’s friends with the other neighbors and I just sit over here by myself disabled all day long, so at the end of the day I don’t even wanna begin to try to have a woman as a friend. They only call you when they need you and when something else comes up they’re gone. I just prefer My own company. I think women are less mature than men when it comes to these types of things

I have never had a "best friend" except for 4th grade. Her name was Miriam and she moved away and we lost contact. I still think about her often.

I once got really close with one woman and we became very good friends until she suddenly started to exclude me out of everything without ever saying a thing to me. It truly did show me how some people can be super nice to you at one moment and completely abandon you the next. I'm someone who seems to gather very strong personalities around me as friends but this instance taught me to stand up for myself more and not be such a people pleaser to others.

Being included in new groups doesn’t mean you have new friends-you have the POTENTIAL of new friends, but you may never find like-minded people in that new group. Those like-minded people MIGHT be friends but only if you’re in the same place in your lives.

I'm 38 and have the same issue. I've distanced myself from so many people because I realized I was just friends with them out of desperation, and they were not actually good people. Most did things that made me walk away. Now I find myself trying to figure out how to make new friends in a new city.

It always astonished me that 4th grade gang behavior never goes away. It’s not you and you deserve to have friends.

I was told by a bible study group that we would be closing up the group. This was a really bad time for me since I had just lost my job and really had no friends. The worst thing was I was suspicious that they were lying , which is really bad for a church group, but I drove by the meeting house the next week and all the usual cars were there. Pretty hard to get over.

I’ve had a best friend for 28 yrs she was at the birth of 2 of my daughters and we have had times where we didn’t talk for months but we always get past it. Now I can see I’m the one that has to be the instigator of 80% of what we do 🤦🏻‍♀️ which pisses me off. I have to say that she is my only friend at this stage of my life (61) and I’m fine with that I no longer stress if she doesn’t contact me for weeks I will contact her when I’m good and ready and not before 🤷🏻‍♀️ I stood beside her through her breast cancer I was at EVERY chemo session, when she had radiation treatment I would drop off to her mums (who lived closer) on the Monday and pick her on the Friday so as she could be home and with her husband on weekends. I also spent 10days at a motel in a bigger city where she had a double mastectomy. Recently I have stood beside her as her husband passed she stayed with me for the 10days before. I then spent a week with her as the funeral was arranged. I then fell at her place and broke my arm and I got the I’ll be there I’ll help you with everything. She helped me shower once and bathed my dog for me once. I then didn’t hear from her for 6-7 weeks until she needed a lift to the cancer hospital.

I’m so sorry you and your daughter have been hurt by these mean people. You seem like a nice person and therefore I have no doubt you will find your true friends in time. Lesson learned, Listen to that intuition! :)

the person you think is your friend at work, instantly becomes your enemy if there is a problem at work. I learned to be friendly with people I work with, but never trust any of them enough to be friends.

This "Queen Bee" you speak of, sounds very narcissistic. I'm 40, never married, no children. I struggle for the first time in my life to make quality friends since I moved to a new state 2 years ago. I see it as a wonderful opportunity to explore myself and that's what I''m doing.

So sad that I couldn't wait to grow up and be an adult so all the mean girls in school would be out of my life and I could have mature caring women in my life. Here I am at 54 ugh the toxity of women in my job is disheartening. Not only have they not matured. They are worse than school aged kids. I try not to talk with the people I work with unless absolutely necessary.

Luckily, I have never attended a church in my adult life..as I chose the Buddhist Path, as well as New Age groups, Drum Circles and also Native American PowWows, too. I have experienced being welcomed and made life-long friends in these variety of communities. Just meeting "church people" through my work--a large majority are judgmental, selfish, cold, disconnected and materialistic. How very Christ-like of them. Way to uphold Christ consciousness and invite others into the ways of the Lord. 😳⁉️🤔

This exact thing happened to me in 5th grade. I was excommunicated from my group and never recovered from it. To this day (in my 50's now) I have difficulty trusting friends and only have one I can confide in. The rest are all acquaintance friends that I can have fun with but I keep a certain distance from. Many times I wished it could be different but I realized it is at least partly my doing by not being able to open up to people. My husband is my best friend but it doesn't replace a female friendship. I think there are good people out there who wouldn't act like the group you described but they are hard to find 😢

My daughter is getting divorced. Her ex husband is a abuser and a narcissist. His Attorney paid two of my so called friends to spy on me, to get info about my daughter. These two former friends that I had for years, sold our friendship out for money.

You are just a wonderful person. I know how you feel as well! It sounds to me like you would be the BEST women's group leader!! You should find a church you like and see if they need a ladies group leader.

I am a woman so I can say this. There is absolutely nothing worse than an all female job site. And all female workforce is terrible. It is toxic. It is a miserable place to be.

I find that friends are really a thing you have as a young person. Once I got married and had children, my family became my best friends! There is no one I'd rather be with than my husband and 2 sons, one of whom is special needs. I don't really have time for friends. I have people I communicate with through texts or phone calls that I would call a friend, but in terms of best friends, those are my beloved husband and my 2 amazing sons. God loves you, Amy! You are special and loving. I recommend reaching out to Jesus. He can fill that loneliness you speak of. My heart goes out to you. You seem lovely. God bless you ❤️

Hi Amy, do you know about the psychological problem: Narcissism ? Try watching some videos about Narcissism from several different channels to see if it helps you spot them. If you identify one, RUN, DONT LOOK BACK, BLOCK THEM, NEVER REPLY, THEY WILL PROBABLY TRY TO HOOVER YOU BACK, BLOCK THEM AND PRETEND TO BE DEAF AND INVISIBLE. REALLY.

The same thing happen to me when my daughter was young. One day I took her to dance class and one of the moms in my new small group of friends ignored me. Finally I said Roe is something wrong with her back to me she put out her hand and said we’re done. Never got a reason but it felt like a knife in my heart. There have been a few different instances. . Today I’m lucky to say I have two close friends but there have been many in the passed that have really hurt me. If I bring it up to my husband he’ll say they were not worth it why do you still let it brother you? It just really hurts especially when you have no idea why. The older I get, sorry to say the more I dislike a lot of people. I am so thankful for my family and for the fact I do enjoy my own company. They weren't best friends thought were they? I mean a best friend when your younger is a friend from school, someone you grew up or someone you met since, but not from a group of women in a school club. I'm not sure why that would stop you having a best friend - as who your descibing and how you met them were through being put together, not drawn to each other. There is a difference. Don't mix up friends and acquaintances - they are different breeds. Even if they were your only aquaintances, they are still just that. Friends come along in different forms. And an acquaintances would never keep me from friends. And friends don't get into rubbish like that, it just doesnt happen.

I learned the hard way that trust is earned. Even then shite happens. You are not alone ❤

Jeez, we always said that in reference to Trump. When someone shows you who they are believe them the first time. Yet the country re-elected a felon. It seems that we have good intentions, but our emotions don't let us see beyond our noses.
