Criminals only need your name, your number and a piece of personal info to try to trick you into paying a phony ransom.

It happened to me once a couple years ago, they told me they had my daughter, and a girl started crying on the phone asking me to save her. I don't even have a daughter so I started fake crying and telling her she would be ok and stuff, asking the kidnappers not to hurt her blah blah. I fucked around with them for about 15 minutes, but I just couldn't keep it going, I was exploding inside. So I started laughing loud af, they called me a couple things, I called them a couple things and then they hung up.
I was just happy to make some assholes waste their time.

That's actually a real common scam right now. They did it to my mother and I had to Google it because I didn't believe it lol. Then they called back after she hung up. I answered and a man said "grandma". "it's me your grandson" he kept acting like he couldn't really hear me and wouldn't answer my questions. Luckily her only grandson is 8 yrs old so it definitely didn't go far. This particular scam, saying they are in jail is really big right now and the IRS one.
