Ford Mustang GTD - $300k, 800bhp+ Porsche 911 GT3 RS Rival at Goodwood FOS

- During the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed I filmed the all new 2025 Ford Mustang GTD.
“Our idea behind this car was to take a race car and not change anything for the street,” says Ford boss Jim Farley. There’s a giant dry-sumped 5.2-litre supercharged V8 up front that revs to somewhere above 7,500rpm and puts out over 800bhp, making this the most powerful road-legal Mustang ever built. That engine is connected to a carbon fibre driveshaft and powers the rear wheels through a rear-mounted eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Pretty much every panel you can see except for the doors is made from carbon fibre.
There are humungous Brembo carbon ceramic brakes hiding under 20-inch forged magnesium wheels, and the active rear wing combines with hydraulically controlled flaps behind the front grille to manage downforce. There’s a giant rear diffuser too, plus a titanium exhaust system supplied by Akrapovic and sticky Michelin Cup 2 R tyres.
Oh, and there’s no boot because that’s taken up by the inboard rear suspension setup, the hydraulic suspension control system and the transaxle’s cooling system. Yeah, this is a properly serious Mustang…

the mustang gtd is built by multimatic motorsports in canada. multimatic built the ford gt from 2015 onwards, both road and race cars. they build all the versions of the mustang race cars, a mazda race car and they worked on the amg one along with several aston martins. they're well known in f1 racing too, their suspension systems are top notch. it has a ford badge but it's built by a race car company.

Cool car. Sadly most people can barely afford the daily drivers they have because of the ridiculous prices and interest rates.
I get filthier by the day at the realisation of never being able to own one of the already spoken for GTD Mustangs. I’m also strongly of the opinion that it would require tip-toeing when it’s raining.
Does this have a faster shifting version of the Tremec DCT found in the GT500?
Its a Transaxle so the dct is on rear axle for better weight distribution. Yes, Same company that makes the gt500 dct makes this one.

As a Mustang owner I love them but I will not be buying any new ones till they cut the curbed weight by 500 lbs a minimum.
The Ford 4 X 4 F150 with the Coyote and a factory supercharger puts out the same numbers as this Mustang and the truck you can do for around 50K ! I would rather have 6 pickup trucks instead of this one Mustang .
Usually it’s the Mustang owners bragging about underdog performance for the price. Now GT3 owners will get to make the same claims compared to this car.

Me too, I have a 15 GT3 and a 22 GT500 CFTP… the Mustang is soo much more fun to drive and it will RUN with my GT3. People need to realize that Stangs are not what they used to be, much better.. interior is a little cheap tho😂

It doesn't look like it's a good handling car at all and for 300k it's waaaayyyyy overpriced. I'm willing to bet this thing is going to be in the shop often. Every mustang I've owned ends up that way. Manufacturing quality is nowhere close to a Porsche. Just get a GT2 or GT3 will ya and stop messing around. Always buy best of breed not copy cats... all the arrow on the car looks like a 911, the wing on the back looks like the 911, why don't you just buy a 911? 😂🤪🤣. You'll be happier, it will cost less to maintain and it will last forever. There are more older 911's on the road than any other older car made.

I have a 15 GT3 and a 22 Gt500 CFTP.. the Shelby can you right past my GT3 at Sebring. However, it needs more upkeep, the Porsche is unbreakable..
You have to hand it to Ford building a turn key race car while Chevy and Dodge are busy turning out garbage EV's nobody wants and canceling production of the Camaro and Challenger. Good luck with that.
