Replacing our Farmhouse Guttering

A big job this week - Brook finished replacing our farmhouse guttering! It was a big job to do alone with only a ladder but it’s great to have got it done before winter. Hopefully the walls will stay much drier this year.
This is most definitely not a tutorial. I learnt a lot watching other RUclips channels, notably Carl Rogers’ video on guttering: • Farmhouse Restoration ...
He used a non-soldering method for zinc guttering which I decided to do too. For one, I’ve never done any soldering so doing it for the first time up a ladder seemed a bit ambitious. Secondly, when we one day replace the roof I’d like to be able to try and reuse the guttering. This method isn’t common in France but it’s a good DIY solution.

Welcome to Living in the Loire, we are a young family in rural France, renovating previously poorly converted barns. We aim to do most of the work ourselves, being as frugal and as eco as possible!

As well as the house we will be transforming the garden, bringing part of it back to its previous use as a potager. This is our dream and one of the main reasons of leaving the city to move to the countryside in France.
