People were moshing and crowd surfing and it was incredible. I will never forget that performance. I am a 56 year old grandma now and i still rock out to Pantera. RIP Dimebag.

You are my favorite Cemetery Gates reaction. It reminds me of watching a teenage girl get smitten with her first big crush, who before that day wouldn't have looked twice at the person, and then the light bulb goes off. I was lucky enough to see these guys as a teen in the mid- to late 90s. Phil's voice is amazing. His speaking voice is so deep that you wouldn't think he was capable of hitting notes like that, but that is what makes him special.

I don't think I've ever heard anybody put it that way - the guitar is the other person screaming back to main character in the song's story. That is deep

3:57 This was one of Pantera’s superpowers that people don’t recognize often enough. The band was incredibly tight and their crisp sound added so much to what made them sound as good as they did. Other bands that try to replicate it end up sounding muddy like you said. Sometimes it’s bad mixing but usually it’s just a lack of the technical skill and cohesiveness that these fellas had.
One of the greatest bands I ever saw in concert. It didn't matter the size of the crowd, they crushed it and put out the same powerful music. Great reaction video as always.
I was stationed at Ft. Sill, OK USA between 1986-1989. I think Pantera is from Arlington Texas, which isn't that far away. I saw Pantera probably 2x a year during that time. They used to regularly play this tiny club in Lawton, OK (which was the city that Ft. Sill was attached to). I didn't even really like metal all that much back then, but they were so good, so tight, so cool to the audience. There were giant humans who'd pull anyone out who fell in the pit, it felt like a great house party. Those guys would talk to anyone who'd go out and smoke a cigarette with them.
As soon as I hit play I knew it was the video version; absolutely second on a full version of the song. The build-up to the drop into the groove is what makes "Groove Metal" a thing. And Pantera are the kings of groove metal!
Loved Pantera and Anselmo's voice since the beginning! Love that you love it! It's one of my favorite Pantera songs. The guitar riff is epic and timeless.
Every person in this band is a piece of magic that makes this incredible band so iconic. All the band members have other music projects that I highly recommend you check out! 🤩
The ending voice-guitar duo reminds me of act of crying. Phil’s voice is the exhalation phase and Darrel’s squealing rift is the inhalation. Such emotion!
I was watching Headbangers Ballroom when Ricky Rachman introduced this new band from Texas (I'm from Texas). They quickly replaced Metallica and Megadeth as my favorite metal band!
I love your technical analytical separation of sound and terminology. Some of which I've never heard before. Your reaction to Pantera was the way I reacted to hearing, or listening, to them for the first time. It was truly biblical, or spiritual. I didn't become a metal head/head banger until much later in my life. So I really missed out on the evolution of metal. I certainly have a greater appreciation of how talented and gifted these artists were/are today than I would have in the 80s and 90s. Rock on !!🤘
Greatest band that ever lived, and i’ll die on this hill. I love these types of videos and seeing the appreciation from people who might not normally listen to this style of music.
GAH! The guitar solo in this song is soooooooo good. Starts out all melodic and lyrical then just shifts into shred mode. Still one of my favorite songs.
Cowboys era Phil is the greatest metal vocalist of all time. Mix that with the greatest metal guitarist of all time, the unflappable freight train that is Vinnie / Rex rhythm...we will never see this again in our lives. RIP Vinnie, RIP Dime, RIP Pantera.
Hi Bethany, Love your channel and your breakdown of the music. Just fantastic. You made a comment about how you shouldn't be surprised by the great vocals, musicianship of the band etc. I commend you for giving it all a go, because most people just say..."oh it's metal, it's just a bunch of screaming..." but as you are experiencing there is a tremendous amount of talent out there in this genre. Lot's more to discover. keep up the great work.
I discovered this song accidentally on itunes at 14 or so on itunes radio as I was getting into metal. in the years following, i would meet all the members of pantera thru tours, friends in radio and music industry. i met dime 3 weeks before he was shot. met vinnie and chad years later, and rex and phil on two different tours. rest in peace to the abbots. this song hit so hard when i first heard it
I assume that for everyone like me, who heard this song before, it took a lot of willpower not to skip to the end. The first time I heard the duelling banjos bit between Phil’s voice and Dimebag’s pinched harmonics my mind was blown. Always fun to see a first time reaction to that.
Phil has thrown down more vocal styles and sounds through the decades than any other metal singer, by far. From all of Pantera's discography, Down, En Minor, Superjoint Ritual and Scour, he's covered a huge range of sonic territory.
Dimebag Darrell was awesome, it was sad to hear when he was killed, and just the fact that he was shot and killed on stage during a concert with his band Damageplan, along with their head of security, a fan and an employee at the venue they were playing at, by a deranged fan of Damageplan is insane. RIP Dimebag
This was an emotional rollercoaster. Super excited to see you react to one of Pantera's best songs. And immediately deflated when the video skips the first 1/3 of the song with the gorgeous intro. But the faces you made during Dimebag's solo and Phil's vocals at the end were worth it. Please tell me you sought out the album version afterwards.
The funny thing is, is that a lot of the bands/singers you’ve reviewed aren’t trained. They just sing like that. I recently watched your Metallica One review and all of your Triumph videos, whom I love very much. These guys were just awesome at being awesome.
Everybody in Pantera, were among the very best in the world, at each of their jobs. The craziest thing about them, is how Phil has outlived both Dime and Vinnie. Dime lived a wild and crazy life, but Phil, made Dime look like a Saint.
@@purplebull582you got me on that! Lol. How tough is a guy, who OD's and dies on a stage one night, then goes right back on stage again the very next night, to do a show again?! It would have been impressive, had he just walked out on stage, sat down in a chair and sang. To go out there, and put on a the kind of performance, that Phil always did back then, is on some next level of badassery, that probably doesnt even have a name yet! Seriously though, I think Phil was too tough for his own good. You cant do what he did every single night, and it not do physical and mental damage, over a period of time.
Got to see them twice in 96’ 🤘🏼 Here’s some other songs you should react to by Pantera! ~ Walk ~ This Love ~ The Sleep ~ Hollow ~ Domination “LIVE” ~ Mouth for War!!!! Pantera is like Alice In Chains where every album sounds completely different from the others.
You have great breakdowns in the music and vocals, And for us Pantera fans knowing what was coming at the end was just exciting to see your reaction that we don't get to feel anymore I'm jealous that you got to experience it all for the first time
Damn, you should hear Phil talk nowadays. He's the most honest brutal dude ever. Its a shame what happened to Dime, and you know it breaks Phil's heart. He's out there carrying the spirit to this day. Getcha pull.
I love this! What a great analysis. Pantera is my favorite, but Phil is a man of many bands! You probably wont like his vocals in some of them because he does so many styles. You should listen to his southern rock/metal band Down and his band En Minor. Maybe try Where I'm Going or Beneath the Tides by Down and Knock Me Cold by En Minor. So many great, great songs and vocals.
it's really fun to watch someone start to understand why we like metal. we listen to are our favorite songs/albums/bands over and over, and it seems there is always something new to discover.
What I love about Phil, is that is true vocals and his false vocal chords line up almost seamlessly. He can push and there's no line between the two. Like you said, he dived into that pharyngeal front placement, but, he STILL sounded like himself. ALL of his voices sound like him.
I just really enjoy this reaction because you did a plus and it's the musical appreciation you do in here. That's the real way to listening to any kind of good music, stop, rewind and listen again. I got suscribed. Thank you.
The anxiety of knowing what you are about to hear Phil belt out is torture 😂 This song was a show of his almost full range. Only a few of these, most others are just brutal groove metal assaults of ear pleasure 😊
It's amazing that you feel in love with Dimes playing. I wasn't expecting that. But his playing is insanely unique in his own right. So that was awesome.

You are awesome! Your reviews make me hear all of my favorite songs over again for the first time with your deep dives. Thank you! ❤
Loved Pantera and Anselmo's voice since the beginning! Love that you love it! It's one of my favorite Pantera songs. The guitar riff is epic and timeless.
Since the beginning? This wasn't his beginning. They had album before this one called Power Metal with Phil on vocals.
Well, I didn't say this was the beginning, I said I have loved them since the beginning
Bethany, you are becoming quite the metalhead! Love it!
Never apologize for replying PANTERA. 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Awesome reaction. Love how you let it play for a bit and then analyze. You're able to get the full effect that way
Every person in this band is a piece of magic that makes this incredible band so iconic. All the band members have other music projects that I highly recommend you check out! 🤩
Hell Yeah and Damage Plan. 🤘
Love all the side projects but Down NOLA is my pick for greatest metal album of all time. Find myself listening to it regularly to this day.
Your surprised facial expressions were a brilliant, enjoyable reaction all on their own. Great job!
The ending voice-guitar duo reminds me of act of crying. Phil’s voice is the exhalation phase and Darrel’s squealing rift is the inhalation. Such emotion!
I love reaction videos of how music i have loved my entire life blows their mind. Im 47 now and still love the music from my youth it never gets old.
Same
I was watching Headbangers Ballroom when Ricky Rachman introduced this new band from Texas (I'm from Texas).
The greatest guitarist to ever live, one of the greatest bands of all time. Been my #1 to for 18 years
Song still gives me chills
GAH! The guitar solo in this song is soooooooo good. Starts out all melodic and lyrical then just shifts into shred mode. Still one of my favorite songs.
It always brings tears to my eyes when I see someone discover the music I enjoyed soooo many years ago 🤘🏻🔥💥🙏🏻💯
Steve, I agree, I can't believe she hasn't listened to so many songs of our youth. I just found her channel. 🤘🎶🤘🎶
Dime is not even remotely close to being the best metal guitarist
@@FuckRUclipsAndGoogle LOL thanks...now I have to clean off the coffee I just spat at my screen laughing
@@davidristic3800 Most overrated guitarist since Jimi Hendrix.
I discovered this song accidentally on itunes at 14 or so on itunes radio as I was getting into metal. in the years following, i would meet all the members of pantera thru tours, friends in radio and music industry. i met dime 3 weeks before he was shot. met vinnie and chad years later, and rex and phil on two different tours. rest in peace to the abbots. this song hit so hard when i first heard it
you are awesome i love knowing these songs and watching ya face at certain points keep up the good work
It's hard to describe how much I truly enjoy watching first time Pantera reactions, especially for this song. It's truly magical.
I assume that for everyone like me, who heard this song before, it took a lot of willpower not to skip to the end. The first time I heard the duelling banjos bit between Phil’s voice and Dimebag’s pinched harmonics my mind was blown. Always fun to see a first time reaction to that.
Do you mean the trading off at the end of the song? If so, those are natural harmonics, just for future reference.
Love this channel!! You can see in her face sheer appreciation and joy! Great reaction 👍
She has great personality authentic she gets so excited and I love that
Phil has thrown down more vocal styles and sounds through the decades than any other metal singer, by far. From all of Pantera's discography, Down, En Minor, Superjoint Ritual and Scour, he's covered a huge range of sonic territory.
you are perfect
Fr
amen
Dimebag Darrell was awesome, it was sad to hear when he was killed, and just the fact that he was shot and killed on stage during a concert with his band Damageplan, along with their head of security, a fan and an employee at the venue they were playing at, by a deranged fan of Damageplan is insane. RIP Dimebag
I also love their cover of Planet Caravan, very versatile vocalist for sure.
One of the best covers ever.
This is Pantera's "pop" song and it is a full on banger. The best band I never got to see live, & my favorite. RIP Dime & Vinnie.
I absolutely love the way you analyze and describe music. Such great insight that helps me appreciate the music even more
Quite possibly one of the best songs ever ,reviewed by definitely the best reaction channel.
So glad to see you listening to and appreciating one of my favorite all time bands. \,,/ ❤
This song is a masterpiece on every level just one of the great songs by pantera one of the greatest metal bands of all time.
Instant subscribe - chills seeing Pantera through your eyes, ears and experience.
One of my favourite live bands! Loved your reaction and analysis, I hope you also take a look at "This Love" - sooo good!!
The funny thing is, is that a lot of the bands/singers you’ve reviewed aren’t trained. They just sing like that. I recently watched your Metallica One review and all of your Triumph videos, whom I love very much. These guys were just awesome at being awesome.
I agree it just comes natural to them
Everybody in Pantera, were among the very best in the world, at each of their jobs. The craziest thing about them, is how Phil has outlived both Dime and Vinnie. Dime lived a wild and crazy life, but Phil, made Dime look like a Saint.
Technically, Phil died first. They just revived him. I was at the very next show he did! He even made light of it! RIP Dimebag and Vinnie.
I love your videos so much. You are so insightful and it is a delight to re-experience this music with you anew.
Seeing them in the Bronco Bowl in Dallas was just surreal. The after party was incredible!!!
14:30 Here we go...
Makes me happy I was a teen in the 80's
You have a secret leather jacket in your closet I'm guessing 😂
Got to see them twice in 96’ 🤘🏼
Here’s some other songs you should react to by Pantera!
~ Walk
~ This Love
~ The Sleep
~ Hollow
~ Domination “LIVE”
~ Mouth for War!!!!
Pantera is like Alice In Chains where every album sounds completely different from the others.
Just gonna add Domination LIVE in Moscow ruclips.net/video/aDACorIaxNw/видео.html
Seeing the joy on your face on the last vocal high note brought a literal tear to my eye. Pantera is so beautifully complicated and intricate.
Cry about it.
The crazy thing is that they started out as an 80s glam metal band.
it's really fun to watch someone start to understand why we like metal. we listen to are our favorite songs/albums/bands over and over, and it seems there is always something new to discover.
I met them and they were so nice and humble…. Met Phil a bunch when I worked at the house of shock in nola…. Great guys rip dime and vinnie :(
RIP Darrell Abbott
It's been almost 20 years since we lost you and I think about you all the time
Pantera is EASILY top 5 all-time Metal bands! Do more from them them, but 90% of their catalog after this is definitely harder metal lol
“Fucking Hostile” 😂
Rip Dimebag and Vinnie Paul!
What I love about Phil, is that is true vocals and his false vocal chords line up almost seamlessly. He can push and there's no line between the two. Like you said, he dived into that pharyngeal front placement, but, he STILL sounded like himself. ALL of his voices sound like him.
The clear enthusiasm is sooo good.
The only down side to this music video is the cut out of the intro.
Yeah...
It's amazing that you feel in love with Dimes playing. I wasn't expecting that. But his playing is insanely unique in his own right. So that was awesome.
Im 19yrs old, driving down 99 on my way to Bakersfield with my cousin. The radio announced a concert that night in Fresno and played this song...we pulled off and watched the show up front. Thus started my lifelong respect for Pantera and Zach
You should have better chosen the extended version... 😂
