@rem Well I think that it truly depends on what you value in the game. I personally thought the locations in 3 were phenomenal at times. Especially when you explore the world of your own volition. Also, 2's issue was not with the silliness, it was with the timing. Having Mythra get mad and throw things at the boys for a mistake that she made immediately after being introduced made her instantly dislikable for a whole lot of people. I enjoyed 2, but the way they used humor was almost always a disservice.

I agree Xenoblade as a franchise is so damn special, you can tell the talent oozing from the creators. The music is GOD LIKE and that too me is so important for RPGs since it's an emotional journey you are going through. Interesting. I think 3 has the best combat by far. 2 got too repetitive after figuring out the combat and getting elemental bursts all the time. 3 has a lot of depth in the combat which the first two lack, however it also has by far the most broken combat. The Troubadour and Signifier are possibly the most broken thing in any Xenoblade game, even more than Poppi in 2 and Overdrive in X!

This game is definitely my favorite of the trio. It takes some of the best features of both games and somehow implements them into this one. The OST is also AMAZING! The mobius theme is so epic. There was also the flute guy during the game awards that used the XBC3 flute, which was awesome.

    • @GuardianAngelEatos
      @GuardianAngelEatos Год назад

The guy playing the flute at the game awards was amazing! Sadly 3 is last in the trilogy for me. It has a lot of great things and by far the best chain attack and combat, however there's a lot of issues. It had the potential to be the best, so it's a shame. It didn't help that the way Monolith Soft advertised 3 connecting 1 and 2 made it sound like something else than what they actually meant.

Played Xeno 3 from frame 1 and it hit so close to home with Noah's inital thought process of senseless killing just to survive and how life isn't supposed to be treated so lightly. Each character having their own arc and side arcs like Mio's best friend she lost. Or Jorgan and Lanz each connection had deft and felt worth something. My only complaint is it wish Sena was a little more expanded upon but her willingness to die for Mio to prove herself and how insignificant she felt that drove her to become stronger. I could go on and on about these character and even my most doubted character Taion has some of the best character growth I've seen.

My only two pet peeves with the game is that
1.- The FIELD themes don't have the same "oomph" to your ears like say, Gaur plain, Colony 9, Mor Ardain Fields or Leftheria Archipelago. The closest i can think are City theme and Erythia Sea. Battle music is imo the best in the series.
2.-It ironically felt way smaller compared to the maps of 1 and 2. Not to mention the characters are actually pretty fast on their feet so it also doesn't feel you're traversing a huge landscape sans again, Erythia Sea.

    • @GuardianAngelEatos

Well yeah it has a completely different vibe. The flute is the main instrument of the game, so naturally there is going to be more slow based peaceful music. @@JamesCarpeDiem I agree. I've been a Xenoblade fan since 2013 by the way, and I love it despite the differences! The soundtrack for 3 is my personal favorite actually. The field music for Mor Ardain seems to be a fan favorite, but I'm actually not a big fan of that one. I like it, but I don't love it like a lot of people seem to. I personally prefer more of the night music in 2. I love the night music for Argentum and Gormott! My absolute favorite night music in the series is for Satorl Marsh! Not the remake though. I actually prefer the originals for all of the Xenoblade 1 tracks. I don't know what it is. The remakes sound more crisp, but the original sounds better. I think the only one that I like more is the Nopon Village music with the added instrument. I am blanking out on the instrument.

Agree. That was one of my favorite aspects of the game. The enemies had a ton of HP but once you stacked orbs in a chain attack, you see how the HP gets chomped off. It was especially fun having a busted ass Poppi QTpie who'd easily drop a superboss. Topple Locking in 1 was fun but flying enemies could not be toppled. At least with 3, you can break/smash characters way easier than before.

The Xenoblade series is just a masterpiece as a whole. The worlds, characters, gameplay and OST, it's stellar. Xenoblade 2 also was my favorite for the longest time despite the gacha system. Xenoblade 3 though is definitly taking it to another level, it's the only JRPG I went for 100%, because all the side content just felt like main content and the game is so refined.
On another note, if you haven't yet, you should absolutly try Persona 5 Royal. I've recently beaten it twice with NG+ and for me it's on par with Xenoblade, 200+ hours and every bit was worth my time! Especially with the Royal expansion, which appearently is woven into the main story seemlessly, it's one of the best experiences I ever had with a game. The game is pure style, everything you see and hear (the OST is insanely good) is just fun and the games makes you care for the characters so much.

I just started chapter 4 in XC3, and I'm over 70 hours in and am nearly level 60. And every hour has felt like a worthwhile use of my game time. For anyone who might be worried about the amount of time, I'm a pretty serious RPG gamer who likes to go crazy and break the system and figure out how to explore where you aren't normally expected to explore at a lower level. You can probably reach chapter 4 at only 30-35 hr.
Anyways, I love the Xenoblade series, and as someone who has beaten both XC1 and 2 multiple times, this one might be my favorite already. I normally have 1-2 hr. of game time weekly, so I am very selective about what I spend my time on, and XC has always been worth it!

I recently finished xc2 after honestly disliking xc1. Luckily I enjoyed 2 more but I would still at best give it a 7/10.
My biggest criticisms with the series are that the story is very cliché and tropey which makes it predictable, the extra content aside from the main quest is mostly extremely boring and the rewards are never worth it. And personally I'm not a fan of the combat because you barely have to adapt once you find something that works. Every battle ends up playing exactly the same.
However I do like the lore/world (too bad it only gets relevant at the end of the games), music is godlike and I generally find the character design interesting.
I still have a switch coupon and I'm thinking of using it on xc3 in a couple of months because at this point I'm too invested anyway and I can see the potential of the series. From most reviewers I've heard that xc3 improves in all categories so it should be at least an 8/10 (not a fan of the character designs tho).

One big change that I like is that making your classes better is done primarily through GAMEPLAY and not via other bullshit. My memory isn’t incredible, but the one annoying thing I remembered about the post game in XC1 was that you needed to grind colony levels to level up your party (to the uppermost ranks) which was incredibly annoying. In XC2, the highest blade affinity levels were basically tired behind spamming food (which you would buy like 99 of and mash the A button on) which was also pretty boring. The class system of XC3 is hugely refreshing since it actually incentivizes you to play through ascension quests to unlock classes’ better abilities, and then allow you to use them when you play the characters that they’re set on. This is genius since I haven’t been locked into a single party setup in my current 60 hours in the game (in current in chapter 5). Even though the class setups can be effectively set (using your best attacking/defunding gear, your best general master skills/arts), the party will never be exactly the same since you have so many party members mastering classes at different rates which demands they be swapped out to maintain an “optimal” party.
One thing I don’t like is that the devs didn’t gate many of the areas so you can just start getting stupidly over leveled. For instance, I’m like level 60 by defeating unique monsters and doing side quests and I still have like 12 levels in reserve XP just after discovering the “sea” (and I haven’t even done much of that content yet either).

Persona 5 Royal is the best RPG to me, and one of my favourite games. Recently finished it on my Switch. It kept my attention all the way to the end which I've not had with a game in a long time. I loved aspects of XC, but it's too big. After recently finishing BOTW, almost 6 years later, P5R made me realise open world games aren't for me. P5R focuses on a few small locations and the characters in the story, with a dungeon each arc. You're also constantly doing things and it keeps you engaged. It's paced really well. Side quest content is more interesting and memorable in P5R too. With games like BOTW and XC, there's too much walking and general moving around to do stuff. BOTW is worse in that story content is relegated to collecting memories and going to a few distant locations. I'll agree with you regarding XC's quests.
I haven't played XC2 or 3. I took a break from XC when I recruited Riki. Haven't played since. Dunno when I'll get back to it. I really enjoyed the story, music and characters, but it drags when you have so much walking. Dunno what I'll do with XC2 or 3, but I'm glad 3 improves the side content.

For my money, monolith soft is the best AAA developer in the business right now. Nobody else in the industry puts it all together the way they do. Their writing is constantly excellent. There's so much diversity and talent in the soundtracks. Plus, those environments are in a class of their own. It's like I'm exploring a world from an 80s Sci fi movie that went way over budget. Just, nothing else comes close.

Xenoblade is one of my favourite franchises alongside Metroid and Super Smash Bros. My first game was the Definitive Edition of the first one and it was love at first sight, then I played Future Connected, then it was time of 2 and Torna and then 3 and Future Redeemed. Once Nintendo ports X I'll play that one as well.
My opinion is that FR is probably the best gameplay wise, as it improves the gameplay of 3 which was already very solid, but it still lacks some of the things I loved about the first two games. Story wise I still think 1 is the best alongside Torna; 3 would have been up there if they actually explained the story better at the end. Don't take me wrong, all the Xenoblade games have amazing stories and characters (aside maybe FC) but I really liked the way everything wrapped together nicely with the first entries while 3 left too much up in the air or up to the side quests, but I will still say the end of Chapter 5 is probably one of the best thing in the whole franchise.

On it's own, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a really good RPG. However, if you've played the previous two games it becomes way more than that. I've played many sequels to many games, but I don't think I've ever seen a game utilize the fact that it is a sequel so incredibly well and with such finesse, while at the same time never letting that be the defining thing about it. You can play the whole game without knowing anything about the previous two games and it will still ben able to stay strong on it's onw two feet. But if you did play the previous two games, and went into the third one without spoiling yourself on anything (aka not knowing it's actually a sequel to both games in the first place), you are going to have a one of a kind experience and the game itself will transform from being "just" great into something so incredible it's worth being called a masterpiece.

Surprisingly I didn't like XB1 that much, I thought it was a good game but it didn't impact me the same way that many others seemed to be impacted by it. I just beat Xenoblade 2 and despite it's flaws I absolutely loved it! I'd put XB2's main party in my top 10 and the combat system in my top 5. I need to beat the torna DLC first before I move on but when I inevitably start playing XB3 sometime this year I'm very curious to see how much it will resonate with me.

I hope xenoblade 3 have ng+ with new stuff added (extra slot accesories, gems, new class level, new skill and arts, etc).
Also wish they have another way to generate monster drop material (like 1 silver coin trade for 1 piece material). Because starting from lv7 gems you need A LOT of materials to grinds.

I'm still trying to gather what my favorite rpg on the switch is now, but while I was playing Xeno 3, I was thinking, "this might be the best game on the switch" all the way through the end. The only thing is, during long stretches of play, the lack of voices kind of made it feel a bit lonely. It maybe because I've been spoiled with the latest FE games with the way they handled voice acting. But that aside, it was a fantastic experience in which I hope to return to one day with dlc waves come.

Loved the game. The peak of the story was def chapter 5/6. Most of 6 was kinda weak until you get to a certain point ;)
I almost cried hearing my favorite XC1 ost when seeing a certain high entia.
My main complaint comes with the last 2 chapters just doing the villains dirty in terms of writing, they were probably shafted a bit because of the sudden/earlier deadline given by Nintendo. I also hate grinding for gold coins. I AFK farmed the ultimate boss and that literally added 60 hours of game time to my file and I didn’t even get all the lv 10 gems

Having played it 120 hours so far and completed the main story, my biggest complaint is that on hard difficulty the bosses take WAY too long. Assuming I had a decent setup and no major hiccups throughout the battle, it can still take up to 15 minutes. In Xeno 2, typically a single chain attack was enough to defeat a boss, even on the highest difficulty, but in Xeno 3 I once had to do 4 chain attacks on a boss. It could be that skill gap that you mentioned, but it's a little disappointing that for hard mode they really just massively increased enemy health, decreased talent art and chain attack guage charge, basically making everything take longer and makes the combat feel way slower. Also, poison is broken AF. Some of the early-mid game bosses,, and a few late game bosses absolutely abuse the poison debuff on your party, and you have very little options against it, especially without having a character who can give the regen buff or that can remove debuffs from the party. I played it on hard my first playthrough like you, and honestly I can't recommend it. I would play on normal for the best experience, but if you insist on playing on hard mode, there's no shame in decreasing the difficulty down to normal or easy when you fight a boss. But aside from my grievances with the hard difficulty, I would absolutely rank this game in my top 5, and above Xenoblade 2 in overall quality, although Xeno 2 is still a stellar game and would recommend it to anyone.

The characters were a big step up for me, and even though the story had some room for imorovement in certain areas, it as a whole managed to surpass even the original imo. I was sucked into thebgame so quickly, and it's easily my GOTY for 2022 and one of my top favorite games on Switch.
