  • @AdeBamforth
    @AdeBamforth 3 года назад +2

    The logistics of cel animation always seemed a mystery to me. For instance, if you had a character in a running or walking cycle, then on top of that their head is lifting and dropping for emphasis in that way they used to in Hanna Barbera cartoons, and somehow the mouth shapes are always perfectly in place. In digital animation you only need to have each mouth shape once and drag it where you like, while in cel animation every head placement presumably needs its own set of mouth shapes... and then it all has to be logged on a sheet for the guy at the rostrum!

    • @herr_crustovsky
      @herr_crustovsky 3 года назад +4

      if you noticed, in limited animation such as at Hanna Barbera, the body (and head) don't actually have any up and down movement during walk cycles. That is precisely to solve issues like that. Secondly, they wouldn't animate random mouth shapes like today, they would animate the actual dialogue and words spoken. So, the head, or at least part of it, would need to be redrawn anyway.
