  • What happens when a Mexican filmmaker lands up in Madrid? Pure artistry and magical filmmaking results abundantly. His first film "Grazing the Sky" (A Ras del Cielo) is a superbly rich documentary that screened at over 40 film festivals globally was initially inspired by and a culmination of years filming the European troupe of Cirque du Soleil. "Grazing the Sky" follows acrobats from diverse corners of the globe vying for limited and coveted spots in an internationally acclaimed circus school in Italy. Then his next documentary, "My Kingdom Come" (A Nosotros Tu Reino) focused on Simón González, a Spaniard who was a 13-time kickboxing world champion rendered wheelchair-bound after an accident, but due to his unharnessed and unwavering spirit was more determined than ever to continue leaving his mark on the world. With no limitations to Horacio and his unique eye for filming and storytelling, he delves into the cultural wealth of his native land and creates his first narrative, FINLANDIA set in southern Mexico's Oaxaca state about the indigenous “muxes" that have been respected as the 3rd gender for more than 1,000 years in a bilingual film he created in Castilian and the characters' native tongue of Zapoteco. The film was well-received at its premiere in Latin America's most prestigious film festival, Festival Internacional de Cine Guadalajara 2021, followed by its sister screening at the FICG in LA and from LGBTQ festivals ranging from OUTshine Film Festival in Ft. Lauderdale, Puerto Rico Queer Film Festival to the Taiwan International Queer Film Festival. Then his next project, "Hasta el Alba" (Until Dawn) is a dance film on La Compañía Nacional de Danza de España (Nat'l Dance Company of Spain) of the iconic ballet, Giselle directed by Joaquin de la Luz formerly the NYC Ballet Artistic Director that premiered in Spain at the 66th SEMINCI (Semana Internacional de Cine de Valladolid ~ Weeklong Film Festival Valladolid). And never one to skip a beat nor take a breather, he is already developing his next narrative film set in his homeland of Mexico on an island in "Sobre Las Olas" (Over The Waves) ~ truly a filmmaker with a unique eye and destined to go even farther internationally. We are very proud to support and follow his career, as well as featuring him in this one-on-one interview with TíoLouie at PRIME LATINO MEDIA Salón as a treasured member of the PRIME LATINO MEDIA Collective of stellar, independent filmmakers. ¡Éxito!
