I think that several of your electrical lugs inside the switch aren't crimped properly. The wire strippers appear to have missed the metal tabs and just pierced into the plastic beyond them. Ideally you should be using a crimper that has two flatter concave faces to compress the tabs and the wire into a 'solid' block inside the crimp. (Basically any of the cheap ratcheting crimpers with replaceable jaws are better than using wire strippers, nicer ones will also leave an imprint of the gauge in the plastic so you know it's crimped well)

As someone who knows nothing about anything but watches a lot of restoration videos, this one seems pretty good to me. The bearings were all replaced, continuity was checked on the motor, paint and sandblasting was applied to the right places (external surfaces - with maybe a little unnecessary bondo treatment - but that's personal preference), the gears were repacked in grease and the functionality of the restored device was demonstrated to be effective. I guess I don't see a flaw - but I'm probably not the right person to judge. Either way it was a great restoration video to watch and I am qualified to say that much 🤣👍

Interesting. My only issue is the plastic repair. Since the rest of the plastic is as brittle as the broken piece you might as well order a new plastic face plate cover. That way you have uniform durability.

the downside of using grease is
if it’s not been moved or used inside a machine for too long
it might get rusty over the time or release water inside the machine
that’s why’s grease is better for machine parts that always move
    idk 🗿

    • @hbrestoration
      @hbrestoration  27 дней назад

That is why it is always necessary to keep it dry. If you use this type of lubrication, you need to regularly check it for maintenance and add lubricant.

Some feedback to improve the channel for your audience:
    - lubricate all rusty screws before unscrewing.
    - don’t hit metal on metal whenever it can be avoided, don’t damage the device.
    - more lighting.
    - wash your hands.
    - catch falling pieces in your hand or on a cloth.
    - smoother, more peaceful hand movements. Avoid jerking motions.
    - zoom in more occasionally.
    - soundproof your workspace better.
    - lay out and display all the pieces more.
    - clean you workspace more. Back wall looks dirty.

You lost me when you spray painted the cast aluminum parts, done properly those cast aluminum parts give a 10 fold look on the equipment.

I know it looks a bit like aluminum, it's not aluminum it's some kind of steel, the body i think is cast iron
