Nice work, but a tip about soldering to the cap: when you make this type of connection you should make a solid mechanical connection first, for instance run the wire through the eyes and bend it back around so it is mechanically secure, then solder. This helps with long term life of joints.
I do Marine repair and restore Muscle cars from one tech to another well done I love the freaking side covers kick ass dude love it @ My I make a suggestion when handling any start capacitors take a insulated screw driver and cross the terminals on the lead ins to discharge the cap before handling . They can store a lot of amps and discharge is you grab the leads. They can kill you if you get a big enough cap and zapped . Keep up the good work love it

@@pomegranatepip2482 If you search on line for Electronic repair especially on Capacitors they will always tell you to discharge the cap before working on the circuit . You are not damaging the cap all you are doing it discharging it . I am only talking about the bigger caps
OK! Who are you and what did you do with the guy who reworked the yellow grinder? New tools! A sandblaster! Where'd you get that fancy new tag? Cool color paint, but dont be afraid to put on more, more, more of it.
fabulous job. at the 27 minute mark, i started wondering.... where does someone find the time and energy to do a project like this? my next thought was.. where did i find the time to watch it? lol
Great video, good job, glad you didn't have to rewind the motor field windings, wonder what caused the big dent on the cast iron casing that you had to fill, would have thought that impact would have broken the cast iron frame, this grinder wanted to live on and by its condition was begging for a restoration, good job and i am a big supporter for restorations.
Side covers must be produced of metal. In case if stone breaks it can harm you, and that metal plates will save your life. Restoration is done. But for video, not for use.
Your left side wheel was put on the wrong way, the spin direction is wrong. The cardboard glued to the wheel shows which direction the spin is meant to be. I couldn't see the cardboard on the right wheel. Like car tyres theres a correct rolling direction, on grinding wheels its very important.
@@hbrestoration i have a grinder and i bought a capacitor for it because it was missing one but i don't think it's powerful enough. do you know how to calculate how powerful of one you need?
Very solid construction of this grinder. Easy to repair. They don't make them like that anymore today. It's a pity that the stone covers are made of fiberglass and resin. They seem not very durable. Generally, very good job.👍
Could be more satisfying for viewers and him to use wrenches. Also you can bang on the end of a wrench all you want, but bang on the end of a ratchet handle enough and teeth in the gears will be broken.
So...everything not economically viable is a waste of time? Have you ever challenged yourself to do something for the satisfaction and sense of achievement? You might consider attempting a project (but I doubt it).
hope you'll enjoy 😊
Fabricating the end covers was my favorite part. They look great!
thank youu ♥
Great job on all of it.. I never ever saw a grinder with so much build up.
Thank you❤️
Fantastic restoration of the old bench grinder 🎉🎉❤

Fantastic job sir and a real pleasure to watch you work. Thank you!

Beautiful job Sir.
Excellent!!! Great job fabricating the missing wheel covers !
^^ many thank
Well done - but resist the urge to grind on the side of the abrasive wheel. How do I know this ? 😱
I don't understand your question 😰
@@hbrestoration He's saying, dont use the side of the wheel. They are not designed for a side load and may shatter.

I don’t think a direct short between terminals is very good for the capacitor…..

Nice! Now all you have to do is create brackets and plexiglass shields😁

I think this Hitachi grinder would have been in worse rusty shape if they had actually EVER cleaned the machine one time.
Ya did you see that it still had lots of good paint under the rusted grinding grit? The best part of the show was him chipping off the slag!
👍Missing splinter guards...

Excelente trabajo realizado
thank you 🥰🥰🥰
Great job.....I like the way you fabricated the side plates. I only thimg missing is the eye safety shield. Great job.

Agreed! Nice solution to solving the end plate dilemma

How does something 51 years old get a 1/2 inch of crud build up? Was that rust?
It accumulates rust over time during prolonged use
