Thank you. My recliner has a lever to elevate the footrest, then I need to push the back into a reclined position. The footrest is working fine, but pushing it back into a reclining position got harder and harder, and now it won't budge. If you have addressed this in another video will you give me the link? Thank you so much for these videos! It's so nice that people on RUclips help us fix things at home if we can. 👍🏼
@nova4005 - Some people struggle in this regard if the chair does not fit them properly. Over time the seat support will soften making it harder & harder to recline the back. If you can easily push or pull the back to recline it while standing alongside the chair with the footrest fully extended, it's likely a fit issue. If the back is as difficult to tilt or recline while standing beside the chair, have an experienced repair tech check it out to see what's going on.
We have a Lane Recliner we are having trouble with - the leg part won’t stay up. It keeps falling down. Any idea what part or area we should repair. It has been driving us crazy! THANK YOU
@KatherineCartwrightCrafts - If the footrest opens & closes smoothly, there may be a mechanism spring that has come off the unit that helps keep it extended. Also, look for loose mechanism parts. That includes parts that are fastened together, as well as where the mechanism mounts to the chair frame. And lastly, check the scissors that extend the footrest to see if they are bent or damaged in any way.
I just bought a manual La-Z-Boy rocker recliner. Can I make the leg rest higher when sitting upright. When I pull the lever, the leg rest is on a slight angle downwards. TY
@jlmw6311 - Yes, the footrest on newer La-z-boys doesn't extend as far as older models. If the chair has ratcheting recline, you can try ratcheting it back slightly. This will pitch the entire chair back a bit, moving the footrest higher & moving the back slightly backward as well. It's a compromise to the completely upright position, I know, but if you can find a sweet spot with the ratchet, it may get you closer to the position you want.
Would you please be kind enough to assist me with troubleshooting my Lazy Boy Electric recliner footrest problem? I deployed the footrest to go down, it went almost all the way down then i heard a pop noise,. When I tried to raise it up it went up a small amount popped again it just hangs loose now. The motor runs when button on side of chair is executed to lift foot rest. The motor operates all other chair functions just fine, lumbar, headrest back of chair. Thank you for time and consideration.
@bowdowntohimful - Losing function after you heard the noise suggests that something is likely damaged on the mechanism. You'll need to roll the chair over & do an inspection to determine what needs to be repaired. Or, have an experienced La-z-boy repair tech do that for you.
@HankR100 - That could be a number different things & also depends on the type of recliner you have. If you have a cable release setup -- where you have to close the footrest with your legs -- this can become problematic if there's a problem with the cable release or how it latches into the closed position on the mechanism, as one example.
I’ve owned 3 Lazy Boys. All have literally fallen apart. Screws, bolts etc… found on the floor. What chair would you recommend that truly holds up over time?
@cathykrynak8735 - I don't follow the new furniture market. So I don't have any specific companies that I recommend. However, I'm thinking about resurrecting an older video I have about the different levels of furniture quality and perhaps posting that sometime soon.
I would like to buy a new Mechanism for my love seat but all i know is it is cable operated. The unit has no id sticker. It does say made in China ??? Great video thank you.
@PaulCTownsend - Without a manufacturer & ID tag it's extremely difficult to find a replacement reclining mechanism. You can try contacting the retailer where you purchased the love seat, if you bought it new.
Great video.And very good advice on safely handling these mechanisms.Thanks for the education 👍
@brittweir8844 - You're welcome!
I really appreciate you covering the non-Lazy Boy chairs!

@@reclinerrepairguy4155 It won't recline when I'm standing and trying to recline the back, so it looks like I might need a repair person. Thank you!

I have a question about replacing the arm rest foam. Have you done this before?
@kristinakysar3275 - Yes.
@@reclinerrepairguy4155 what’s the best way to do so?

My recliner sticks when rocking. Why is this?
