    Thank you. My recliner has a lever to elevate the footrest, then I need to push the back into a reclined position. The footrest is working fine, but pushing it back into a reclining position got harder and harder, and now it won't budge. If you have addressed this in another video will you give me the link?
    Thank you so much for these videos! It's so nice that people on RUclips help us fix things at home if we can. 👍🏼

      @nova4005 - Some people struggle in this regard if the chair does not fit them properly. Over time the seat support will soften making it harder & harder to recline the back. If you can easily push or pull the back to recline it while standing alongside the chair with the footrest fully extended, it's likely a fit issue. If the back is as difficult to tilt or recline while standing beside the chair, have an experienced repair tech check it out to see what's going on.

      @@reclinerrepairguy4155 It won't recline when I'm standing and trying to recline the back, so it looks like I might need a repair person. Thank you!

    I’ve owned 3 Lazy Boys. All have literally fallen apart. Screws, bolts etc… found on the floor. What chair would you recommend that truly holds up over time?

      @cathykrynak8735 - I don't follow the new furniture market. So I don't have any specific companies that I recommend. However, I'm thinking about resurrecting an older video I have about the different levels of furniture quality and perhaps posting that sometime soon.

    Im confused where the recliner actually locks in does it get caught by a nylon nut and the nut is bad?

    • @reclinerrepairguy4155
      @reclinerrepairguy4155  9 дней назад +1

      @Reesl352l - Most reclining mechanisms do not have an actual "catch" that keeps the mechanism closed.

    • @Reesl352l

      @@reclinerrepairguy4155 ohh well I am still confused about it because like you pull either a lever or latch ig and youd think the cabal would release the hold... so like im confused... could you elaborate? (cause if you pull the leg rest it doesnt just come out....) you would think it locks in place.

    • @reclinerrepairguy4155
      @reclinerrepairguy4155  7 дней назад +1

      @ - If you have a cable release mech, there are a few things to check. If the mechanism is not completely closed, there will be no cable tension. Open the footrest by hand & close it firmly to restore tension. If the mech is completely closed, but you have no cable tension, the handle & cable has failed or come loose & needs replaced. And finally, if the mech will not close completely to restore cable tension, the reclining mechanism may be bent or loose.

      @ It's my grandpa's chair and I wanted to help him we are both mechanically inclined and it seems he actually MIGHT have kind of knew what was wrong but I love knowledge and wanted to help. It's more likely the cable but the chair is like a decade old so it could be bent too. I inspected the inside of the recliner before and the coil is not a coil anymore cause coils are usually closed and tight this one is pulled apart so odds are its the coil. My grandpa included the cable might be stretched to. Thank you for the help! Appreciate it!

    I just bought a manual La-Z-Boy rocker recliner. Can I make the leg rest higher when sitting upright.
    When I pull the lever, the leg rest is on a slight angle downwards. TY

    • @reclinerrepairguy4155
      @reclinerrepairguy4155  Год назад

      @jlmw6311 - Yes, the footrest on newer La-z-boys doesn't extend as far as older models. If the chair has ratcheting recline, you can try ratcheting it back slightly. This will pitch the entire chair back a bit, moving the footrest higher & moving the back slightly backward as well. It's a compromise to the completely upright position, I know, but if you can find a sweet spot with the ratchet, it may get you closer to the position you want.

    What would keep the foot rest from staying down?

    • @reclinerrepairguy4155
      @reclinerrepairguy4155  11 месяцев назад +1

      @HankR100 - That could be a number different things & also depends on the type of recliner you have. If you have a cable release setup -- where you have to close the footrest with your legs -- this can become problematic if there's a problem with the cable release or how it latches into the closed position on the mechanism, as one example.

    We have a Lane Recliner we are having trouble with - the leg part won’t stay up. It keeps falling down. Any idea what part or area we should repair. It has been driving us crazy! THANK YOU

    • @reclinerrepairguy4155
      @reclinerrepairguy4155  3 месяца назад +1

      @KatherineCartwrightCrafts - If the footrest opens & closes smoothly, there may be a mechanism spring that has come off the unit that helps keep it extended. Also, look for loose mechanism parts. That includes parts that are fastened together, as well as where the mechanism mounts to the chair frame. And lastly, check the scissors that extend the footrest to see if they are bent or damaged in any way.

    Would you please be kind enough to assist me with troubleshooting my Lazy Boy Electric recliner footrest problem? I deployed the footrest to go down, it went almost all the way down then i heard a pop noise,. When I tried to raise it up it went up a small amount popped again it just hangs loose now. The motor runs when button on side of chair is executed to lift foot rest. The motor operates all other chair functions just fine, lumbar, headrest back of chair. Thank you for time and consideration.

    • @reclinerrepairguy4155
      @reclinerrepairguy4155  11 месяцев назад

      @bowdowntohimful - Losing function after you heard the noise suggests that something is likely damaged on the mechanism. You'll need to roll the chair over & do an inspection to determine what needs to be repaired. Or, have an experienced La-z-boy repair tech do that for you.

    My brand new lazy boy recliner foot rest position when extended seems too low to me. Is there a way to adjust the 3rd or most extended position higher relative to the seat? Thank you in advance.

    • @reclinerrepairguy4155
      @reclinerrepairguy4155  Месяц назад

      @yordgeness - I haven't checked out any new La-z-boy products in a few years, so I'm not the best person to ask. But the last time I did, many of their footrests (perhaps all of them) did not extend as far as older units, just as you describe. This is by design, so there is no adjustment to change this. However, if the chair has ratcheting recline -- that pitches the entire chair back -- you can try to compensate somewhat by maxing out that feature.
      It's always best to try before you buy, to make sure the furniture meets your expectations & needs.

      @PaulCTownsend - Without a manufacturer & ID tag it's extremely difficult to find a replacement reclining mechanism. You can try contacting the retailer where you purchased the love seat, if you bought it new.
