    Thanks for posting this. My recliner was low on one side. By understanding the construction I was able to remove some bunched up foam and replace it with a firmer type. MUCH BETTER!

    This is exactly what I need! My Lazy Boy recliner's seat foam is disintegrating - I see little bits of foam on the carpet below it. Now at least I know what to look for. Thank you so much!

    Thanks very much for your great videos!!! There ain't now way I'm spending another $1600 for a new Lazboy recliner because of a worn out seat pad that is no longer available as a part from the factory. I'm looking for a 3rd party to do the work. The recliner has been serviced mechanically twice and well worth the labor charge and parts are covered by the lifetime warranty. I know I can get 10 more years out of this great recliner. My service guy told me he was surprised at the great condition of my 2008 model. I'm not a plopper or dropper...that's just disrespectful to a great piece of furniture. Still, they do need some TLC every few years.

    Thank you for the video! I also wanted to share another option for you instead of replacing a cushion, you can actually steam the foam back to its original size if it's standard foam! I don't believe you can do it with your memory foam beds because I haven't tried it! But I have tried it on my furniture cushions and it works amazingly!

    good info because I bought the uptown collection from Garden White furniture 2yrs ago and they replace my accent recliner so now here I have the second recliner and it is doing the exact sinking on the arm rear side. So now that my Garden White warranty has expire the extended warranty do not cover cushion sinking (very unhappy) so I am trying to fight with this company about replacing my chair. so this video explain to me what is going on with my recliner thank you so much. I did not know or thought about cushion on recliner chair but I know I will look for springs and high density cushion next time around.

    Just bought a pair of big luxuriously comfy Lazy Boy chairs....thank God for your instructive videos! I have been learning so much from you. Tightened up the adjustment screws so they
    can't go back so easy.....need now to adjust so my feet are on the floor when I sit.....but the question I have today, concerns the rocking ability of one of them, when I first sat in it, it felt like, yes, you could rock part way, like half way.....then I read how some people don't want to rock and how they can "block" it from rocking....so I decided to tip the chair up to see if I could tell if it had been altered, after tipping the other, the one that rocks correctly, up also to compare....to my untrained eye, they appeared the same...so I did not do anything that I am aware of that changed anything, BUT - after I turned them upright again and got in the one that kind of rocks part way, it was rocking normally - I was HAPPY! NOT for long, after sitting in it and moving back and forth some it went quickly back to being a partial rocker. PLEASE tell me if you might know what the problem is and HOW can I fix this? Hope/pray this is possible, and.....THANKS!

      If you purchased them new, you have full warranty coverage (parts & labor) for 1 year. Report the problem to the seller for warranty service.
      If you bought them used, hire an experienced La-z-boy tech to check out the rocking issue.

    What can I possibly do about being a heavier person and causing that "line" on the underside of the recliner that cuts near the frame? I've lost 90 pounds but that damage is done to the furnature already (only a year old)

    • @reclinerrepairguy4155
      @reclinerrepairguy4155  6 месяцев назад

      @Cynfuldelight - If it's a clean cut, you could try removing the seat foam & glueing the cut(s) with foam adhesive. And if you go to all that trouble, you could also put down an extra layer of protection between the seat rails & the underside of the foam. I use burlap. You could also use a piece of deck pad that extends over the top of the seat springs & fastens to the top of the side frame rails as well. These 2 options provide another layer of protection to the underside of the foam.
      Or, you could just replace the foam while you're at it. Depending on the density (quality) of the original foam, it may not last very long anyway.

    We have recliner sofas and both recliner seats have dropped on the side towards the centre seat. This makes you lean when sitting. Very hard on the back. Is there a repair for this? Thank you. Your videos are very helpful.

    • @reclinerrepairguy4155
      @reclinerrepairguy4155  3 года назад

      @Gramma Richardson - You should have someone check it out to make sure that there are no structural problems (damaged frames, etc.). If not, the problem is likely that your seat foam needs replaced. Contact your dealer for repair service. Or find a local repair tech --> reclinerrepairguy.com/Locate

    I've got the side cut like you mention around the 3:00 mark. Is there an easy DIY layman fix for that? One side is still attached fine so when you sit it sort of sags on the cut side. Otherwise it's in fine shape.

    • @reclinerrepairguy4155
      @reclinerrepairguy4155  Год назад +1

      @Matthew Austin - No quick fix, but if the cushion is still good and provides plenty of support, you can remove the cushion & glue the cut with foam adhesive. If the cut is not clean, you can glue a slim piece (like a shim) of foam into the opening.
      And when you reattach the foam, staple a heavy / strong piece of fabric over the springs & onto the seat frame on all 4 sides first. This will give the underside of the foam a little more protection.

    Do you have any tips on how to lower the amount of your recliner? If it is a bit too high for you to use say I am a Lash Artist and who are my clients it is too high and I’m just wondering if there’s anyway I could possibly fix this, just by adjusting apart inside the recliner

    • @reclinerrepairguy4155
      @reclinerrepairguy4155  7 месяцев назад

      @theoilygoddessjourney-xo5094 - Normally the height of a recliner is fixed. However, some companies offer a taller base to raise the height of the chair. If your unit has something like that installed, you may be able to switch to a " "normal" height base to lower it slightly. Contact the manufacturer of the recliner (or one of their dealers) to learn more about the model you have.

    I have a lazy boy recliner needs new foam for seat....where do i buy it ?

  • @dreich1973

    Hi. I can't find anywhere on the web about an inner spring in between the foam on my recliner. My main springs look fine when I flip it over. In behind the protective layer I can feel what seems like a coil spring and when I get my fingers under and into the foam there is definitely more springs in the foam layers. Any videos on troubleshooting these? BTW, I bought these from Jeromes Furniture in So cal.

    • @reclinerrepairguy4155
      @reclinerrepairguy4155  3 года назад

      @D Reich - I've seen imported recliners with coil springs inside the seat foam, which may be what you're describing. This is a bad idea because recliner seat foam often gets damaged (cut) on the bottom of the foam where it contacts the top of the metal mechanism parts. This can cause the inner coil springs to eventually pop out through those cuts.

  • @johnspartan98
    @johnspartan98 Год назад +2

    Why not put plywood instead of those springs? I don't see the need for springs at all. Plywood, then your foam and other layers....done..... and no more springs to break.

    • @BestInBold
      @BestInBold Год назад

      Good point!. Im going to be placing plywood ontop of the springs with new foam.

    Is there a way to buy or have the seat foam replaced to the original type, say for a 25 yr old Lazy boy, that's NOT that horrible MEMORY FOAM???

    • @reclinerrepairguy4155
      @reclinerrepairguy4155  10 месяцев назад

      Yes. Find an experienced upholsterer to replace your seat foam. If they're not familiar with La-z-boy, show them this video on how to remove the seat for foam replacement -----> ruclips.net/video/zLG7HZpcz6s/видео.html
      And be sure to discuss foam densities & firmness beforehand, to make sure the comfort & longevity of the foam meets your expectations.

    Does this work with an Ethan Allen recliner?

    • @reclinerrepairguy4155
      @reclinerrepairguy4155  6 месяцев назад

      @maggieinstitches - The seat support principles provided in this video apply to many brands. There are a few exceptions, however. One is seats that are specially designed to use other support methods, not foam. If you chair uses a traditional foam-based support, these principles apply.

    My 7-year-old trampoline artist has been bouncing on my 2015 La-Z-Boy Duncan Reclina-way sofa #330746. The center seat cushion does *not* feel supportive. Also, the wood frame sides can be easily felt on either side of the center cushion.
    On inspection, there appears to be some extra space between the bottom of the seat cushion bottom and the center springs. This is more space than on the 2 recliner seats. The springs/clips are intact and the "spring wave" spacing appears even. The springs may be ok, or they could be uniformly worn out. Is there a way to tell?
    Notably, the thin black fabric on the underside of the center seat cushion is pulled through on both sides of the seat frame. There was a wedge of foam that was out of place, and one long rectangular piece that was also hanging down. I took these out. I think an identical long piece fell through was discarded earlier. Doh! I suspect that putting the wedge back would help the seat support, and the long pieces would protect sitters from feeling the side frame wood.
    What to do next? I am handy, and could repair if I knew what to do, or could detach the center seat completely and bring it in somewhere.

    • @reclinerrepairguy4155
      @reclinerrepairguy4155  3 года назад

      @Dr. Timothy R. Morris - The short answer is your seat foam is toast. The trampolining sliced off both sides of the foam, where they used to rest on the wood frame on each side. So you need new seat foam, and if you suspect the springs have been stretched (pretty likely), replace them as well.
      If you're not sure how to do the repair, hire an experienced repair tech. An upholsterer can do this job as well. Just remember, the repair can be undone by more trampolining! ;)
