Thanks so much! You can set up your stereo effects using parallel. Have a bank or banks that are stereo (no join in parallel) then copy and paste that bank then edit for mono (join after loop 12 in parallel) 👍
Hey Dan! I’m getting excited for my G3 to arrive. Silly question, but do I assign a switch to get to my tuner? This is a little new to me because for years I would just have my main output from my loop switcher coming into my tuner so I wasn’t wasting a loop for the tuner itself. I had to step on the tuner itself to turn it on. It would be nice to have the tuner on the new board I’m putting together and just get to it with the G3 instead. 😊
Hey Kristen, we’re excited for you to get it as well. Yes, you simply choose what footswitch you want to assign for your tuner, then select tuner from the menu. That’s it, now when you press that footswitch the built in tuner will activate. Another neat trick is to assign the built in tuner to a hidden preset, I have my first preset as a basic bypass tone. If I press that a second time it brings up s hidden preset which is where I have my tuner 🙏👍
@@TheGigRigDaniel Hi Dan. Got a question for you. I have the Jesse Davey Duellist, Hermida Audio Zendrive, Ceriatone Klon, Timmy and a King of Tone. Just wondering how you would stack these bad boys? I'm going in to Fender Super Reverb using a Strat, Tele and LP. I'm waiting on the Gigrig G3 so will be able to stack anyway possible but keen to hear others would use them and why? Thanks
I love it when he says “and there you go” and i’m still wondering how to make this thing turn on before losing my mind trying to make it do anything. ‘Mick does MIDI’ is like the intro to how boggled I get with anything I can’t just twiddle a knob to make it do something. I’m not even old! I know I need one but I just don’t get how it works.
Hi Dan, Can you please confirm that TRS hicon_jack_hi_j63sa04 are able to be used with G3 atom ? I didn’t find out TRS right angle from Evidence audio ?. Thanks 🙏 ☺️
Just to be clear, it also switches the preamp of any amplifier? Its super nice you can put the preamp of an amplifier in a loop, but I never hear people talk about the switching of the preamps in the amplifier. Is this because this is like stating the obvious? Just insecure about this part. So example, bank 1 is clean(channel one of the amp) with reverb and delay, bank two is crunch(channel two of the amp) with an overdrive pedal. Might be a pointless question but I never see this adressed in detail so 😊
Hey RP, G3 has 3 ways to switch the preamp depending on the amp. It has programmable remote switches so if your amp uses a standard two button footswitch you can simply swap the footswitch with G3’s remote switching. 2nd is MIDI incase your amp is MIDI programmable, and third is audio. If your amp has separate inputs for each channel , DC30 for example, you can switch the channels by simply choosing which G3 output to use 👍
You can change the order of effects right? With the "four-cable-method" could you have a preset run a delay into the FXLoop and another preset running it into preamp?
@12:20 how does the 'reorder' feature work with stereo loops? can they be moved prior to a mono loop and just sum to mono? consider the stereo reverb loops you made around @8:50 mark in loops 11 and 12
Once you have a stereo loop, it’s in parallel, so if you move a stereo loop from the end of the chain to the middle, you are changing the split point for the parallel line 👍
@Daniel TheGigRig OK, here's a question about the Tuner/Aux "loop". The manual mentions it can be used as an additional (13th) FX Loop, but there is no further info on how this works exactly. Any chance you could expand on this? What I have in my head here is too complicated to post here ;)
Just one question about the loop ordering. If I am using the 4 cable method would it be possible to change the position of the amps effects loop too? Example 1: Like Dan said I put the Preamp in Loop 4. For some songs I would like to have the Delay and Reverb in front of the preamp so I would change the position of the preamp in the loop order after loop 12? Example 2: If I want to play something in the style of Tom Morello, all pedals in the effects loop of the amp, I would change the loop order that the preamp is before Loop 1? I am just wondering if this would work.

Hi Daniel, I'm just starting installing my G3 (with evidence plugs), and I'm not so gifted. How should I plug my stereo tremolo "Effectrode Delta-Trem", knowing it has one mono input and two stereo outputs? Thanks so much for that good product (order #14521). I love the Pedal Show🤩. All the best.
Is it possible to have mono effects in the loops after a stereo pedal? E.g. gain stages split into dry and wet (modulation) parallel paths feeding into a stereo delay with tremolo and reverb hitting the left output of stereo delay?
It’s the reordering applications that have me most interested in this. Does anybody know - for those pedals that have their own internal in/out loops, eg KoT, DOD Rubberneck… can you use the G3 to put pedals in those loops at some times, then back into the main signal chain at other times? If that makes sense?
Really worth every penny! Question: If my Preset 1 in Bank 1 has a Delay from the Strymon Timeline and I would like to copy the whole preset (means the G3 settings of Loops, Gains AND the Strymon Delay from this preset) to Preset 1 in Bank 2, is there a simple copy function or do I have to set all parameters (gains, which loops active, etc.) manually on the new preset? Thanks for your help.
Hi Dan, love TPS. I'm wondering if I could use the G3 with my Friedman Runt-20 combo amp or Blues Deluxe amp and my Fryette PS-2A? I haven't bought the G3 yet (G3 will be my Christmas present to myself) so any ideas about my request on the feasibility of the Combo - power amp - G3 togetherness? Furthermore, I don't use the loop on my Friedman as I prefer the loop on the Fryette; would I be able to utilise the loop on the G3 together with the loop on the power amp? Overdrives etc into the front of the amp via G3 and time based FX in the loop of the power amp. I'll stop now, as I don't know what I'm saying any more.
Hi! Yes, G3 will help you put all that together in any sequence you like. Power station loop is so good as it is effectively after the driving power stage if your amp. 🤓👍
If you have a mix of mono and strereo pedals, can you reorder them and have the stereo effects converted to mono if they are followed by a mono effect? For example I like to use my Strymon Mobius in Stereo at the end of my effects chain but sometimes I wish I could have it in mono Pre dirt pedals, could that be done with the G3 without re-wiring anything?
@@TheGigRigDaniel can this work with presets too? Meaning can one preset have the Mobius in stereo and another preset have it set to mono / pre dirt? Thanks!
Hi there. If you’ve got the board set up to integrate into an amp with an fx loop and yiu end up with back line that has no effects loop, you can simply place a patch cable between the send and return of the loop your using for the amps pre amp. Hope that helps 🤓🙏
Hi Stefan, it doesn’t automatically sum to mono because that doesn’t work in all situations. However, you can set up some banks to be in Monte and some banks to be in stereo and somewhat you like to mono using the mixers. Hope that helps.
What a great board! I have a question: if im running my moduler effects in stereo and in the effectsloop in both amps, is it possible to connect then both in the 4 cable method? Or is 8 cable method 🤔
Daniel - With this new device where does a volume pedal get connected? I use a volume pedal for swells and some volume control with my delays. The delays are normally run through the amp effects loop. So in my G2 I have it in one of the Loops and it is before my delays. I did like the dedicated Volume Insert in G2, but that goes away when using the Effects Loop configuration. Does that differ on G3? Thank you.
If you’re using your amps fx loop the signal would go from the G3 loop send, into the volume pedal, out of the volume pedal, into the amps input, amp fx send, to the G3 loop return 🙏
Hi Daniel, I just purchased the G3... my G2 from 2018 stopped functioning, tech said I need a new "rail" for the upper switches... he said he doesn't have them available at the moment and I needed to use the switcher in order to keep on working so I went for the G3... where does my "volume pedal" go? on the G2 there was a volume pedal insert section i plugged my Lehle into. I can't seem to figure out where to put it in the G3. let say i don't use my amps fx loop/return... i'm guessing i just hook it into one of the 12 fx loops?
Hi Alvaro, yes, we incorporated the volume loop into the normal loops n G3, there are 12 loops in G3 as opposed to 10 in G2. Because of the routing options in G3 you can do a lot with a volume pedal in one of the loops from changing position in the signal path to being on one side of a parallel split and using it as a mix control 👍
@@TheGigRigDaniel Thank you for the wonderful reply, I'm very impressed with all of the options and add ons of the G3. Still trying to wrap my head around it all. But my goodness you've created a New Universe for Guitar Players to Keep on Living the Dream. Huge Hugs and Gratitude, thank you for being you!
There’s a few ways you can set this up depending on if you want it active all the time or not. Think I’ll do a vid showing how to hook up a noise gate with G3 👍
Dan, about the external midi control, just confirming this allows program changes via midi CC to automate the pedal changes in a liveset? Was thinking to have it automatically switch via Akai MPC for example. Thanks!
If I'm doing the 4 cable method does it matter which loops I choose on G3 since we can reorder them? If I have a mono reverb in 11 and have my amp in 8 could i just reorder 11-8 then out? Thanks!
Hi Joe, you can use any loop you like but I do recommend putting things in the order if most use, to simply cut down on the times you need to reorder the loops
Hi there, in the 4CM there is no limitation and I can choose any Loop for connecting, not only Loop 5 right? Just checking and probably is a dumb question, but I just want to be sure :-) Cheers.
So if the default order is 12345678901112 we would want our default wiring/ assignment of pedals should follow the desired signal path? 1-compressor 2-distortions in the order you usually would stack them 6-12 delays chorus reverbs etc? Otherwise we would be (and could) be assigning pedal orders for each preset we create? Thanks
What cables are people using with these? I have used Mogami gold on my board but would love a cheaper alternative because I need about 8 more to attach all my pedals.
Only improvement I can think of is trs jacks for every loop, so that each one can be run in stereo, thus you won’t have to make compromises if you need 12 loops! Otherwise this is just fantastic as is!
Totally possible, just need to check on the four way split at the front. Needs to be fed from a low impedance source. We’re already doing a similar thing with the stereo trails so I’ll add this to the list 🤓👍
Can you still do a wet/dry/wet like I can with my G2? I do not see a volume insert connection, can you program one of the loops to function as one in conjunction with the humdinger?
Hi Dan, loving the gig rig it's really awesome work you're doing! I have a question about stereo pairs. I'm running 2 amps in stereo and I noticed if I try to run mono send/stereo return, out of a stereo pair channel I end up getting no sound out of whichever side has no send from the gigrig (even though I have a return coming back into it). Some pedals only have a mono in but have stereo out, is there a way to make this work on the gigrig? Cheers, Trent.
@@Sorbzski99 it's been a while but if I remember correctly... I "jumped it" - kept it as stereo send and plugged a cable to the in and out of the side I wasn't using.
Best way to get one of these to Vancouver bc Canada? Great job here everyone, amazing stuff
I love you, Dan.
Ah, awesome! Thanks Robert 🤓🙏
Hi Dan,
Can you please confirm that TRS hicon_jack_hi_j63sa04 are able to be used with G3 atom ?
@@TheGigRigDaniel awesome. Thanks for the reply! This is going to the top of my list 😊
hey thats amazing staff, can i know how much cost this in euro please??
You can change the order of effects right? With the "four-cable-method" could you have a preset run a delay into the FXLoop and another preset running it into preamp?
@12:20 how does the 'reorder' feature work with stereo loops? can they be moved prior to a mono loop and just sum to mono? consider the stereo reverb loops you made around @8:50 mark in loops 11 and 12
Once you have a stereo loop, it’s in parallel, so if you move a stereo loop from the end of the chain to the middle, you are changing the split point for the parallel line 👍
I have a few pedals I always leave ON. Can I just put all of them into one loop to save the rest of loops for more individual pedals? Cheers!
Hi Tony, absolutely 👍
@@TheGigRigDaniel thank you!!
@Daniel TheGigRig OK, here's a question about the Tuner/Aux "loop". The manual mentions it can be used as an additional (13th) FX Loop, but there is no further info on how this works exactly. Any chance you could expand on this? What I have in my head here is too complicated to post here ;)
Hi, sure thing, it’s a TRS loop, send is in the tip, return on the ring, so a TRS to two mini cables and you’re good to go 👍
@@TheGigRigDaniel Perfect, thank you!
Sure would 👍
Got one on order, so excited to use it... sucks so hard that its not going to be until April :-(
Appreciate that these things take time to build... but still. :-(
Cheers Chris, we’ll be doing everything possible to get it to you ASAP. Thanks so much for your patience
@@TheGigRigDaniel thanks! Appreciate that these things take time. Just impatient to get my hands on your magic box of tone! I’ve probably watched about 100 hours of TPS over the past month trying to design my ultimate board. Currently got

CH1
Bad Stone
Electric Mistress deluxe

... I want something else, something odd, maybe a Hog2... haven’t decided yet!
It’s been a tough few months (for everyone), but searching for new noises on my rig has become a coping strategy for my lockdown mental health... and I’ve always got TPS on in the background. Thanks for everything you do!
Thanks so much Chris, yep, I hear you, it’s been a tough tough year. Stroke of midnight on nye I’ll be out the front of my house, facing the North Star and shouting “Jumanji!!!” at the top of my voice 😂 here’s to an awesome 2021 👍
100%@@TheGigRigDaniel / things can only get better. Thanks for everything you do. And please pass on my thanks to your team. There answers all my bonkers questions since ordering the beast and been super helpful. Great company, superb products, wonderful people.
Hi Joe, I have an internal loop on my KoT, it means I can swap the order of the sides and even use them in parallel 👍
@@TheGigRigDaniel Wow… that’s amazing Dan. Talk about a game changer!
Really worth every penny!
Question:
If my Preset 1 in Bank 1 has a Delay from the Strymon Timeline and I would like to copy the whole preset (means the G3 settings of Loops, Gains AND the Strymon Delay from this preset) to Preset 1 in Bank 2, is there a simple copy function or do I have to set all parameters (gains, which loops active, etc.) manually on the new preset?
Sure, you can change the order, then sum the möbius outputs 👍
@@TheGigRigDaniel can this work with presets too? Meaning can one preset have the Mobius in stereo and another preset have it set to mono / pre dirt? Thanks!
Schmidt array board! Just like mine!
Awesome!
How does this work if you have backing and the amp doesn’t have an effects loop? Do you have to reprogram your board ?
Hi there. If you’ve got the board set up to integrate into an amp with an fx loop and yiu end up with back line that has no effects loop, you can simply place a patch cable between the send and return of the loop your using for the amps pre amp. Hope that helps 🤓🙏
You didn’t mention power. What do I need to get it connected to my generator? I know it needs 650ma. Is there a high current adapter just for this?
So if you set up some pedals in stereo, but sometimes play in mono with just 1 output selected, does it all come back to mono?
Hi Stefan, it doesn’t automatically sum to mono because that doesn’t work in all situations. However, you can set up some banks to be in Monte and some banks to be in stereo and somewhat you like to mono using the mixers. Hope that helps.
What a great board! I have a question: if im running my moduler effects in stereo and in the effectsloop in both amps, is it possible to connect then both in the 4 cable method? Or is 8 cable method 🤔
Yeah, that would be the 8 cable method, totally doable
@@TheGigRigDaniel how would i go about that?
@@TheGigRigDaniel Should I be doing that with G2 as well. At present my Volume is in #7 followed by the delays in #8,#9,#10.
How do you run two amps at the same time with 4 cable method?
So how do I use my fortin Zulu+ with the g3??
There’s a few ways you can set this up depending on if you want it active all the time or not. Think I’ll do a vid showing how to hook up a noise gate with G3 👍
@@TheGigRigDaniel please do! Thank you!
Dan, about the external midi control, just confirming this allows program changes via midi CC to automate the pedal changes in a liveset? Was thinking to have it automatically switch via Akai MPC for example. Thanks!
Hi, do you mean program changes via PC message? Yes it does 🤓👍
If I'm doing the 4 cable method does it matter which loops I choose on G3 since we can reorder them? If I have a mono reverb in 11 and have my amp in 8 could i just reorder 11-8 then out? Thanks!
Hi Joe, you can use any loop you like but I do recommend putting things in the order if most use, to simply cut down on the times you need to reorder the loops
@@TheGigRigDaniel killer. Thanks!!!!!
Hi there, in the 4CM there is no limitation and I can choose any Loop for connecting, not only Loop 5 right? Just checking and probably is a dumb question, but I just want to be sure :-) Cheers.
That’s correct, any loop, you can then change the position of that loop 👍
@@TheGigRigDaniel thank you!
When using 4cable method on one amp, can you still add the second amp to output 2?
Absolutely 👍 it will still have the signal from the preamp of the first amp so try going into the second amps fx loop return 👍
Thanks
I wasn’t planning on spending more money 😆
and the soft buttons for Remote switches do what, exactly?
Program the remote switches as part of a preset 👍
I'm looking for a swither that have two stereo input and out. Will this do it?
What cables are people using with these? I have used Mogami gold on my board but would love a cheaper alternative because I need about 8 more to attach all my pedals.
On this board I’m using Evidence Audio SiS 🤓👍
Only improvement I can think of is trs jacks for every loop, so that each one can be run in stereo, thus you won’t have to make compromises if you need 12 loops! Otherwise this is just fantastic as is!
Thanks mate, the Atom has TRS for every loop 🤓👍
will the square 400 plugs work with this???
For the Mercury M7, was the input into G3 done by a Y-TRS cable or mono in?
Great! Just one question. Can you run the stereo delay and stereo reverb in paralell??
Totally possible, just need to check on the four way split at the front. Needs to be fed from a low impedance source. We’re already doing a similar thing with the stereo trails so I’ll add this to the list 🤓👍
How do you remember whats in each preset?
Check out the new G3S 🤓👍
gonna get this... I'll keep my g2 tho ;-)
Somebody please remind me what the intro song that is from what tv show ?
Can you still do a wet/dry/wet like I can with my G2? I do not see a volume insert connection, can you program one of the loops to function as one in conjunction with the humdinger?
yes, add a HumDinger and you have wet/dry/wet
Hi Dan, loving the gig rig it's really awesome work you're doing!
I have a question about stereo pairs. I'm running 2 amps in stereo and I noticed if I try to run mono send/stereo return, out of a stereo pair channel I end up getting no sound out of whichever side has no send from the gigrig (even though I have a return coming back into it). Some pedals only have a mono in but have stereo out, is there a way to make this work on the gigrig?
Cheers, Trent.
Nevermind I fixed it!!
@@Sorbzski99 it's been a while but if I remember correctly...
I "jumped it" - kept it as stereo send and plugged a cable to the in and out of the side I wasn't using.
I think I also noticed that the gig rig was swapping left and right channels for some reason and I had to plug in to the opposite side.
There’s 2,772 presets available on G3, to be exact.
Question is, who would actually use all of those presets?
Steve Vai.
Anyone knows what pedal board case is he using in the video.
Hi, it’s a Schmidt Array 🤓👌
@daniel TheGigRig How do you wire the microcosm in stereo, what kind of cable would I need?
Also if I have a couple pedals wired in stereo but then just run one amp do I have to unplug the stereo cables or change the pairings? You
So this is buffered. I'm ok with that, but what is the sample rate?
Hi! No, it’s not buffered unless you turn on the pre or post gain, then the input and/or the output are buffered. 680k in, 100 out
Dan if I normally run time-based affects through loop, can this still work for me?
this is black magic.
How many loops can you set in parallel?
You can set all of the loops on 2 parallel lines but working on adding more in a future software update 👍
